I know I'm way behind on this but when exactly did Millennium Force go down? Has it been down all week because of Mechanical difficulty?

I hope that they get Millennium Force open by Monday. A lot of people are looking foward to riding it soon. Let's hope this report is more accurate that some of those weather forecasts ;-).

The motor and gearbox are not the same thing.

A motor can come in different horsepower and RPM ratings with different "face" mounting styles. Thusly the "gearbox" or more appropriately the gear reducer must be sized accordingly. Both for size, moutning style, and proper gear reduction to get the final output RPM desired.

With something like MF the motor will be greatly reduced RPM wise to provide more power.

Don't get me wrong here, but to those people who say "Cedar Point is going to ruin my trip because of MF being down". To those people who say that or similar things to that. Really its only one ride, and it will be up again. Also, if you want to go when the ride is up, and it will be up again, change you plans around, or go again some other day. If you really want to ride it, and if you don't want to wait in lines, go at the end of the season, like Halloweekends or something. There are so many other rides at the park, that your trip won't get ruined.

Wow You know it's odd when Millennium Force goes down, but it's really odd when It's down more then 2 days at a time. I'm glad it's back and operating again.

Being broke for a week is a major breakdown. Glad it's back up! And glad I got to ride last Saturday morning!

It appears that they're doing a rescue. We saw the emergency evac. go up the lift around 12:20. Let's all say a silent prayer ;-)
