Just wanted to know what some of your thoughts were of this that I just read. http://www.thrillride.com/hotnews/hotnews76.html

Wow. It sounds like the rumor was true then. I'd be amazed if they could get it to work consistently and make it over the top.

You know, if this is true, this just opens up another opportunity to announce something even bigger.

It's time for CP to break the 1,000 feet threshold ;)

No matter how big this coaster is, Dragster will still be the worlds tallest and fastest coaster in my eye's. But don't worry, I'm sure Cedar Point won't stand for having a smaller coaster. This just means that they're going have to build an even bigger coaster....... I hope.

Mark my words - this will be a disaster at Six Flags Great Adventure. They have enough trouble running the stuff they have, let alone a trouble prone Intamin rocket. They have a great coaster collection, but they run them like crap.

Needles to say, I'll be planning another trip out there anyway...

To me it seems that Six Flags is just asking for a disaster if they try to go higher than Dragster...just look at all the problems CP has had with it. It has yet to run reliably, and the same ride in Sif Flags' hands would have even more downtime.

I was already planning a first ever trip to Six Flags Great Adventure next season to ride Nitro(much love here for B&M Mega Coasters, I've been lucky enough to ride the other two in this country) so this is a bonus if it turns out to be true. As enthusiasts let's hope that Intamin learned a few things after Dragster and this new beast will run consistently.

I know that many people along with CP is not going to stand with this new coaster. Just like MF opening as tallest and fastest then having it token away by SD 2000. look for CP to be the first park to have the a 500ft coaster. And even faster speeds. 140 or 150mph. That would make CP very happy.

You guys act like Cedar Point will be completely devastated from this. Sure, they probably enjoy holding all of the records, but remember, this is Six Flags we are talking about. CP is still 100x better ;)

Lol, if this new coasters is taller and faster, I'll go to opening of it and wear my TTD t-shirt with stats on it.

Ok, let's not get carried away... when was this "media announcement" mentioned in that article? I've not heard of any announcement, and it even claims that Spetember 29th is the announcement day. No one knows when they'll release it, the site just says "soon" right? Judging by the length of the coaster, I don't see how it could possibly be taller than Top Thrill Dragster...but who knows, it could be, but not likely.

Plus, the codename is "Stealth," which doesn't seem to have anything to do with a jungle/tiger theme... *** Edited 9/20/2004 2:25:03 AM UTC by Erikjc***

Here are the multiple reasons why I think this whole thing is bogus:

1. The track length is 2480 feet, according to RCDB. TTD's is 2800 feet. The ride would obviously need around 3500 or more to break TTD's records.

2. Other rumors claim for this ride to have a little extra thrown in, like a bunny hop and/or an overbank. TTD doesn't even have all of that.

3. ThrillRide.com is VERY unreliable. They'll post about the wildest things.

I say SFGADV will get something taller than Storm Runner but smaller than Xcelerator. And DEFINITELY smaller than Dragster. But of course, anything can happen. The only people that know about this coaster are SFGADV and Intamin.

You can think whatever you want...

The word around the campfire is that the ride will be taller and faster. The great irony and humor in it all? The maintenance people that got canned from Geauga Lake apparently now work at SFGAdv. That's funny.

The thing I want to know is whether all those who defended CP over TTD's unreliabilty ("new ride", "new technology", "prototype", "wait til next year", "fan-boy excuse of your choice inserted here") will do the same for SF when this also doesn't work for the first 18 months ;) From some of these postings, it looks like the SF bashing has started even though the ride hasn't even been built.

As a long time TTD reliability basher myself, I have to concede that CP seem to have FINALLY worked the bugs out. Sunday 19th it ran like a dream - I got 16 rides, with one 20 minute breakdown for what seemed like a prox sensor issue. That's the first time I've been to the park where I got more TTD rides than anything else.

No one is even defending CP anymore. I doubt they will defend Six Flags.
