Maybe Cedar Point will start building fun rides, and not just ones that break records, again.
Oh, I think they're a lot of fun, not just there to break records...
Look, it's just not going to happen. I know I'll look stupid come the 29th (and btw, who exactly was told about that date in the first place??), but come on. It's NOT going to break 500 ft., and probably not going to break 420. Six Flags doesn't seem like the type to put so much innovation into one ride that they manage to go HIGHER than TTD, and do it with 320 ft less track. And the footers imply that it will at least have one over-banked turn. That really stamps out any hope of a height record.

Does TTD have any infield footers?
Of course it does. The infield footers on TTD are for the transfer track and the station.

Oh, because apparently if a bird flew into your face at 120MPH you'd be fine... Come on. And what does 550 feet have to do with anything. If it goes that high, it will likely be just like TTD and be just barely making it over the hill. There are other ways of keeping the riders safe without enclosing the ride.

Most days down in one season.
Highest maintenance cost to manufacturer.
Biggest PR headache.
Longest freefall by an unsecured passenger.
And...
Most metal thrown in face of riders
I guess if they want to make it a record breaker, we better look at what records the combination of Intamin and SF would be best at breaking.

Hey Jugga,
Thanks for the laugh. Let's just hope they don't break those records.
Of course, I am surprised that Intamin would let any SF park have a coaster from them after the problems they have had withother Intamin coasters and guest safety. I am also surprised that SF didn't build this coaster out at Magic Mountain, if the info is to be believed it sounds like more of a type of coaster that you would see out there. Plus, by building it out there they would also break the record for the most coasters at one park. Which is a record we all know that Cedar Point likes to really talk about.

What i'm just saying is that I will scorn Six Flags for life if they screw up this coaster and how it's maintained.

I for one do not believe that it will go over 500 feet. When Cedar Point was building Dragster, they had two of only four cranes in the US tall enough to build the ride. From a previous thread (http://www.pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=8950) the cranes that Cedar Point used have a maximum height of 500 feet. If the new coaster were to go over 500 feet, they would either need different cranes that can go higher, or a different method of construction.
Thus, I don't expect it to go much over 450 feet, if that. I still woudn't be at all surprised if it were a bit shorter than Dragster.

No, its already confirmed it will beat two WORLD records, posable third! And, they aren't for most inversions in one ride, or longest track length, so you can guess what the other three I am talking about ... also ... notice I said WORLD records... How do you think buildings over 500' are made? They use extensions on the cranes, or even use choppers for the pieces. The only thing all the hype is pointing to is first over 500, them calling it a historical announcement, "Come watch history in the making!" A record breaker is hardly history.... A new height class is certainly history!
I wonder how much this monster cost. I also hope they worked out some sort of launch cable non-breaker as often thing. rrright....comprendes?
