TTD records to be broken?

I'm suprised CP hasn't said anything about the use of TTD's image on the announcement. If that's not TTD and is an "image" of SF's new coaster, it doesnt' look like it'll be anything more than what TTD is, just a big giant phallic structure in the middle of the park (although, TTD looke more like a coaster this year than last, since it was actually running)

I don't think they used a picture of TTD. If you look closely, there are catwalks and the elevator part missing. Also, (this could just be the angle of the shot) but the train looks like it's ascending during what would be TTD's 270 degree twist.

Just my observations... ;)

I'm guessing 421, 125. Something those idiots at six flags would do...
"This eats all records" tells me that TTD's records of speed and height will be shattered. I highly doubt SFGA would go 421, 125. That would be absurd...
Yeah, 421, 125 MPH is defiantly absurd! I have a feeling they will be doing 521, 100 feet taller to shame the point, one extra foot to insult them lol.

What I've been told is that there is a 90* up, and 90* down, no 270, but I could be wrong on all points, I am not certain on anything until the 29th.

OK, maybe the crane(s) that CP used are capible of building a 500' coaster. I still doubt it will be 500ft.
I agree 500ft. I think thats strechin it. There is one point i have to make. If you have the will, the knowledge, and the big one ENOUGH MONEY, you can get a coaster as high as your heart disiers (sp). The main question is how much money is a park willing to invest. I bet it probably will beat the hight by maybe 35-45 feet. But I dont think we are at the time right now for 500. Mark my words 2008 you will see the first roller coaster in the world to reach 500ft.
I wonder if this will be running on opening day next year. I remember that Cedar Point had to push it to get Dragster to open in the beginning of the season and they already had the main tower pieces in place along with track. The launch and brakerun were also coming along good. At this point I haven't seen much progress with Great Adventure's main tower besides the footings being formed. If it's gonna be "so" tall they better get a move on if they want it to open early next year.

Not really. *** Edited 9/23/2004 11:53:05 PM UTC by 1870***

Mark my words 2005 you will see the first roller coaster in the world to reach 500'! They have already released how much they are spending in our park, 32 million I believe was the number, and that includes the money for tiger island, which is a 1,000 seat stadium, with a tiger show. They wouldn't hype the media that much for a measly 10' over TTD... And... tell you the truth... if this doesn't go over 500' I give up on SF because it would be corporate suicide!

I wouldn't really care if it was 10 million feet high. Okay, I would care but I'm just saying that the chances of me going out to SF GAdv is slim, so I'll never be able to ride it. Plus, not like it's some new kind of technology or something. Cedar Fair came out with new technology, making it really interesting. Six Flags just took the idea and made it a little bigger(maybe) or a lot bigger (definate maybe).

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I bet CP is already planning a bigger coaster than anything ever before. I'm sure CP will regain the title.

It's probably going to be that anyway. We already know how difficult it is to maintain and run a ride of this magnitude. Couple that with Six Flags' classic 3-7 minute dispatch intervals, and we have a 12 hour wait in a shadeless queue for a ride that will break down every 30 minutes and take an hour to fix. I certainly hope, for SFGA's sake, that Intamin has damn near perfected this launch system, or we WILL witness your "corporate suicide".

Plus, when you get to the height and speed of these coasters, I doubt riders will notice much, if any, difference between a 420' rocket coaster and a 450' or 500' rocket coaster. It all kind of blurs together and feels and looks the same.

This announcement will be interesting to see what they come up with, but the rides I really want to ride next year are Italian Job and Hydra.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'm sure CP will regain the title.

I don't care if they do. My opinion: MF is less "interesting" than Magnum, and Dragster less interesting still.

where do you go to see the announcement for sixflags new ride?
Pete, I do agree that it will FEEL the same... the thing that will make it a success is it's novelty "tallest fastest"

I also agree that just because it is tallest, and fastest... don't mean it is the best coaster.... though going 0-130+ is REAL fun!

No matter how big this coaster is, Dragster will still be the worlds tallest and fastest coaster in my eye's.

How does that work?

140 mph?!? Man, they're gonna have to start passing out goggles in the loading station. I thought 120 mph was a bit fast but I can't see stuff getting much faster without some sort of windshield (which would take the fun out of it). *** Edited 9/25/2004 7:14:54 AM UTC by RockDown2G***

Yeah, I would like to get an explination how that works as well?

If security measured are needed, I doubt they would put a windshield on it, I would think they would put something along the lines of a dome around launch/brake. Tell you the truth... a bird hits you at 120, or 140... your still in trouble either way... *** Edited 9/25/2004 12:04:12 PM UTC by SFcoasterguy***

I don't think people are going to take much more speed than 120 mph. I also think this obsession of the tallest and fastest is getting boring. I think if parks just make a good coaster that's fun and a little different people will come.
