TTD records to be broken?

According to the crane manufacturing company the crane can reach 620 feet or 520 feet depending on attachments. Here is the link to the website:

http://www.manitowoccranegroup.com/Products/Model2250.asp

Read the text under the image of the crane!

Page 27 of this document shows the a crane setup maxed at 520 feet: http://www.manitowoccranegroup.com/downloads/2250ProdGuide.pdf

Page 65 of the same document shows a crane maxed at 620 feet. So I would guess the limit for height is higher two years after dragster.

278 coasters and still counting!

Cranes could be used for about 400 or so feet. Then if they really wanted to invest they could get 500ft. By either a lifting hellicopeter (could only haul 1 piece at a time and aviation fuel is costly) or do like they do with building have a crane that is attached to the structure and is continuously being hoisted up. This scenario would also be costly because of a one time use. Lets say they do get a taller coaster. I would be sad but i hope its not over 500. Cedar point got the 200, 300, and 400ft mark. I hope the streak continues. I am also willing to bet right now somewhere someone is planning a cedar point 500ft coaster. Right after millenium force was built they started thinking of how to go taller. And i bet there doing the same thing now.

Tallest...Fastest...Worldwide!.......Yawn.

Funky Jive... I really think this will top 500' so... they need to get to 600... and I think SF will be doing this in 07 if this coaster is a success ... so they need to build quick.... I really think SF will be taking over this streak in there flagship parks, where as CF only really has one.

Edited to put in response to "Tallest fastest worldwide... yawn"... I actually think this will have tallest inversion as well, but I am not certain on that fact yet. *** Edited 9/23/2004 12:43:10 AM UTC by SFcoasterguy***

Of course you aren't "certain" - The only people that are certain about ANYTHING on this ride are the few select individuals that work for Six Flags and in particular, Great Adventure.

I also belive this "thing" will have the tallest inversion. If it does have "the tallest inversion", then the coaster world sure has taken its sweet old time. I remember back when I just saw a few measley (but fat) supports at Cedar Point for Dragster, I immeidiatly thought "Tallest Inversion". I guess I was wrong there.

Thats the only way this coaster will be any different from Dragster; if there is no inversion way up there, then were just 100 feet higher, woo hoo... *** Edited 9/23/2004 2:05:06 AM UTC by rogue kielbasa***

"you're a naughty boy, and that's concentrated evil coming out the back of you"
TTD: 15

If it does have the tallest inversion, it will be on another element of the ride, not the main tower, if it was on the main tower, it would ruin the ride, because one of the things that TTD has going for it is the view... if they inverted the tophat... well... the view would be gone, and it would have to go through the tophat to fast...
Cedar Point is definately a trend-setting park.

Nothing points to it being 500' tall. I am really surprised that SF is going above 420'. But since they are, 450' would be much more realistic, if the rumored 140 mph speed is correct.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

No, I don't think so. I let them talk! Cedar Point will be tallest and fastest in the world. TTD still records in the world. I will laugh. If what Six Flags will happen and fix fix fix fix all times in next summer! If what Six Flags will injury. What happen Six Flags Magic Mountain Superman the Escape fix all times in since 1 or 2 yrs! If what happen Six Flags Great Adventure. Cedar Point were good fix TTD and quickly fix. Cedar Point will discuss what going on future roller coasters.

Cedar Point will be Tallest and Fastest or Tallest, Fastest and Longest in the world.

Six Flags still STINK in the world! Period!

George, how much practice have you had in the english language?
I think if this coaster is 450 feet CP should add 50 feet to TTD and beat there record.

Couldn't have said it any better!

Who said the rumored speed was 140? And ... physically, if the coaster were to go 147 MPH it would creep over the top of a 520' tower, with a 509' drop....

Adding 50' on TTD would be expensive, because they would need to add more launch track, so they would need to redo the station, move everything back, risk the structure's integrity, and would be down right STUPID! FACE IT! CP is going to be loosing there precious record, AND not get the first over 500' or 600, or even 700' If we even ever get that high! Look at all the evidence pointing to over 500'... Supports are two times thicker then TTD's Them calling it a "Historical announcement" "Come watch history in the making" "It eats ALL records" Rumors from people who know everything about this coaster overheard talking about what a coaster over 500' would be called...

And we all know that the biggest coaster automatically makes it the best coaster and having it automatically makes you the best park.

Outside of a great marketing angle, who cares?

I'd be much more excited if it turned out to be a "Real" coaster and not a L-TH-B ride. Yes I know Dragster is considered a full circuit coaster but the short ride time makes it feel like more like a thrill ride instead. I'd love to see something along the lines of MF but signifigantly larger.

Millennium Force Laps-168
**Vertigo Launches-21**
Dragster Launches-52

I wonder if the tires on this record breaking coaster will stay on??? Whoops wrong ride.

On a more serious note, I wonder what Sandor said to SF about the hydraulic launch system. I would think SF would say, "Ah, what are the changes made to ensure reliability".

I agree with you nachos. I'd rather have a couple minutes of thrill than a couple seconds.

what exactly does "L-TH-B" stand for?

I'm suprised CP hasn't said anything about the use of TTD's image on the announcement. If that's not TTD and is an "image" of SF's new coaster, it doesnt' look like it'll be anything more than what TTD is, just a big giant phallic structure in the middle of the park (although, TTD looke more like a coaster this year than last, since it was actually running)
