^^They might be talking about John McCain. Kinda makes, "I'm going to go ride The Maverick," creepy and weird.
I'm just glad my company day is at KI the 2nd day of operation (that Sunday). It will be great to get those rides on Diamondback without lines, etc. and get to really see how it is in a few different seats. Then I have a summer trip planned to CP (haven't been there since Maverick was put in). Should be a good park year (hopefully will get to Kennywood as well).

It probably stems from THE Ohio State University ;). I do agree it makes my blood boil when I hear THE Mantis, THE Dominator, etc...
I agree... that Buckeye school to the south should have its certification as a higher educational institution revoked. Then those poor students could garner a true education from the great Wolverine school to the north!
GO BLUE!
Not that I want to get into this debate, but I would hardly call it a 'great' school.
I'm not sure what you mean by overshadow. I don't think attendance will be effected by maybe less than 1%. I have tried to get friends who are not coaster nuts to go to KI and they all would rather go to CP because it's closer. I'm in the Detroit area and everyone from around here mostly goes to CP and some recently to MA. DB looks fun and the wife and I will for sure be going to KI. But to most regular folks if it's not taller than Dragster or MF then they won't be impressed.
I live in Northern Kentucky, 25 minutes from Kings Island and 4 1/2 to 5 hours from the point. I visit The Point more than Kings Island, there just is no comparison and DB won't make the difference, It will be nice to have a ride that makes you feel like your at cedar point for a moment, till you get to the top of the coaster lookout and see I-71 for a view instead of Lake Erie, but more times than not I will just pass Kings Island on my way to the point, when I was a kid KI was a beautiful park, management over the years has imo destroyed the park, riding son of beast is like getting hit with a baseball bat upside the head, Flight of Fear rocks, the beast is nice and they have a couple other nice rides, but there is very little left as far as traditional rides (are they the only park in america without a ferris wheel?) and once you get passed the fountain and the Eiffel Tower, there is very little beauty, I love big coasters but mild rides are nice too, and it's either a wild ride or a kiddy ride, no in between - recent years have seen the removal of rides such as the flying scooters, the antique cars and the skylab (the KI equivalent of the whiches wheel) man do I miss that ride. the old time amusement park charm has been totally stripped from the park, the Cedar Point experience makes this park seem rather boring and drab, but hey it was great for me when CP bought the place and I could get in both parks with one season pass, it started me going to KI again. But finally KI will have a hyper coaster, how many does CP have, it's a no brainer which one to go to.
Yeah, might want to add a few periods in that mess.......good grief.
While Kings Island is no Cedar Point (as is for just about every park in the world) it definitely has it's own charm. I visited KI for the first time in my life back in August and I loved it. Sure I didn't think much of SOB and Vortex, but I enjoyed the park and I'm glad to see them getting another quality ride to add to their lineup.

I need a few trips to KI every summer, it has better wooden coasters then Cedar Point, a nicer water park (yay Proslide Tornado,) much better water rides, a Sally Dark Ride, Avatar, Firehawk, FoF, and Adventure Express. Not to mention their Halloween event has an entirely different feel and is a different experience then CP's. Its also a theme park, which in general I usually like more then Amusement Parks. Who cares that CP is better then KI, every once in a while you need some change.
I am happy to see KI get the Diamondback! I can't wait to ride it! I know that it will be a nice addition to the park! I don't think it will overshadow CP, but CP better work on adding new coasters if they want to hold on to its title!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
The name of a roller coaster is a proper name. Cedar Point is a proper name. A roller coaster is an object. An amusement park is an object. Do you say "I'm going to the Cedar Point for the weekend."?

Yeah but that's not a proper name, it's a nickname. Heck it isn't even a noun.

I highly doubt that Kings Island will steal Cedar Point from the spotlight in 2009. What I think this does for Kings Island is now they have a signature attraction besides THE BEAST. Heck Cedar Point still has Maverick which for some folks, they haven't rode it yet. I've talked to many people who said they have yet to ride it. Anyway though I'm really looking forward to riding Diamondback.
