I only take it personally when someone twists the words around. If the argument was presented in a clear, non insulting manner, no problem. However, picking and choosing sentences will only provoke further discussion.
What I wouldn't give to see a blog update that shows Tony and/or Tyler discovering something 'out of the ordinary' at Demon Drops location.
That's what I'd like to see.
*sigh*

The cost thing is about the only thing you may be right on or have an argument that makes sense, but again, there is no concrete evidence to support your claim that the cost would break the bank. How about some links, materials cost etc... Neither of us have them, so I'll state again that you should let that one rest.
Or, we could compare what you're proposing to similar existing rides that have been built recently, that fit your criteria (70-80mph avg speed, steel construction; all costs adjusted for inflation):
Millennium Force (140s) - $31,000,000
Nitro (140s) - $24,000,000
Behemoth (190s) - $26,000,000
Intimidator (213s) - $23,000,000
Titan (210s) - $30,000,000
Diamondback (180s) - $22,000,000
Intimidator 305 (180s) - $25,000,000
Goliath (180s) - $37,000,000
Steel Dragon 2000 (240s) - $62,000,000
Thunder Dolphin (90s) - $43,000,000
Note that I'm choosing only rides with a max speed of at least 76mph. This is actually generous toward your argument, as a ride that averages 70-80mph generally has a top speed around 90-ish.
So, in looking at the above 10 examples, let's examine the cost, on average, based on ride duration - an admittedly crude comparison, but for the sake of this discussion, it's as relevant and accurate as we're going to get. Plus, as I mentioned, I'm being generous toward your argument in the rides I'm choosing with regard to speed.
We get an average cost of $198,332 per second of ride time. For your 300-second ride, the total cost would work out to over $59,000,000. How many rides costing that much have been built by seasonal parks? The average cost of the above 10 coasters is just over $32,000,000. Your proposal is a full 84% more expensive, which isn't surpring, given its comparative length.
None at the moment. What does that have to do with anything anyway?
Cost has everything to do with it. You cannot simply build a super-expensive ride and not have a plan to justify that cost. Well, you could, but you'd be in a LOT of trouble before long.

I still stand by my point that its not outlandish for Cedar Fair to drop a large amount of coin on a world class ride at any park. As I said, you almost have a valid argument with cost and of course it would be more expensive than past construction, but nothing to prove it would cost $XX million. Neither of us that.
@Kyle. A few years ago Tony & Tyler put a sign on the museum that said "New ride goes here" and I thought it was hilarious. Hopefully we get some teases like that again.
So, I've really taken this little coaster project of mine to heart... I made up a queue, signs, and a gift shop/photo booth using some vintage CP themes.
I'm going to post a video in the near future.
Thoughts?

Any chance you could post the no limits file, or the track package file? That is, when it's completed to your satisfaction?

^ Your very creative with your renderings there Valleyfair Enthusiast. Lets just pretend they are building that in 2011. I think they would contact you. :)
This thread gives me a headache. VFE, what company are you saying makes this? GCI, GG, Intamin?
Let's Get Weird.
Break Trims, I'll upload a track package once I get it tweaked as I wish... this may be a while yet, however.
TTD, I simply designed what I want to see there... But, I think it most closely resembles a GG. That said, my bet for what will actually go in is on GCII.
Edit: Here's the youtube video.

Valleyfair, that's sweet. Nicely done. I also like the classic colors.

Good design and well-produced video - well done!
One thing I've considered in the whole debate about getting a new woodie is that, from an informed perspective, yes, Cedar Point lacks a world class wooden coaster. From the perspective of the general public, however, they see BS and MS, and they also erroneously attribute Gemini and CCMR as wooden coasters. Furthermore, some of the best modern wooden coasters are at parks that are fairly small, and probably not visited by many of CP's base of customers.
So from that vantage, you have a lot of people who don't know what a wooden coaster can actually be, and who are under the impression that CP already has four wooden coasters. Looking at it that way, you would have to really sell a new woodie to the public, and show them why this is exciting. I think a small but wild GCII with tight and highly banked curves and tons of airtime pops would really do the trick, as the public would see an elasticity they had never seen in wood before.

Well, I would like to see the current stand up trains of Mantis taken off and out sit down trains added,This could be done! and/or a Flying Coaster Be added Something a little Bigger than Tatsu @SFMM and a little more crazier.I agree that Mean Streak Has Had it's time and now it's time for it to go! or as i think about it how about a good LIM launch coaster!
Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!

And what makes you think it could be done?
The ride was designed to use stand-up trains, why do you think the trains could just simply be swapped out?

One word. Sheikra. Hasn't the discussion already taken place that established that the profile and center of gravity for a floorless was so similar to a standup that they could be generally interchanged without having to re-engineer the whole ride? This doesn't take into account reconfiguring the station, of course.
Not that I'm advocating CP do this.

Ok, so I am more or less done with my coaster (although I'll probably add more detail to the boardwalk, pier and midway later). Anybody know where I can post a track package?

Great job!!
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

As far as generic file hosting sites go, I can't complain about mediafire.com. It has a nice folder-based setup, and unlike the others, doesn't have waiting periods or limited download slots or anything like that. It gives you a link for each file or folder that you can post publicly. I have a free account that can handle files of up to 200 MB, so it should suit your purposes for now.
