What is your best memory of Season 2002?

I guess old Richie boy would not be happy with the use of the phrase "animal" when referencing a park guest. In 1980 honest to god thats what we used to call em!

And true to form some moronic cretins think that just because they are inside of an amusement park they can think with the head that has only one eye and vomits.

How times have changed.

One of my favorite memories was going to the X with Logan, his friend Jeremy, and Chris. we went to the drag show and then after that we went to Steak N' Shake where I tried to order a Chili 5 way minus the chili. I got "a look"

a few others...

.. standing at ground zero for the 4th of July fireworks... constantly dodging burning bits and burning holes in my shirt and then explaining to wardrobe that they were actually damaged DURING work....

.. actually firing the IAAPA fireworks show (Thanks again to the crews at Zambelli Internationale for both times)..

Oh lord, sooooo many to choose from. But I figure someone from Foods better represent. So here's my top memories:

1. Big Bash: Tony only got upset 2 whole times!! And of course it was the smoothest operation ever, and who can forget the drunken idiot that smashed in the window at Frontier Inn.

2. Wednesday nights at Louie's with the Chuckwagon and Chance crews. Its your Last Chance!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. The Put-In-Bay trip, thanks Mikey, Jodi, and Aaron!!!!!

4. The night Johann came to 711, asked for me, had me freaked out that one of my kids did something stupid, then took me next door to 710, pointed to Jodi, and said, 'That girl over there loves you.'

5. The Area 3 supervisor's party in 711 that got busted, thanks 723, you could have called first.

6. Every Area 3 Supervisor meeting. Always memorable.

For me it has to be the fourth of July. The whole crew was somewhat upset with not being able to observe the fireworks. :( It was a sad moment. For some reason however the fireworks stopped for a lengthy period of time. We all thought it was over. NExt thing we know the Monster decides to go down mechanical and at that moment the fireworks started up again. Almost the whole crew got to watch the finale because the Monster went caput for a while. Good times.

Screamsters! What a fabulous time? We got to run around and scare people and get paid doing it! That was the best time ever. Except the very first day when it decided to down pour and I finally got to Jitney completely soaked from head to toe. Hmmm... Oh and when the scary drunk man decided to kiss me...Or when the children decided to kill the monster and stab me with those damn blinking light up swords...Or the freezing cold...Or the Friday nights when no one was there and we would all try to scare the same people over and over again... Oh well most of the time it was fun. Good times for sure!

Ok. So the Fourth of July was not a good memory. At least for me. I spent to WHOLE thing staring at the wind meter. It got to be pretty windy. I was constantly on the radio giving wind speed and what not. I think they just finally said forget it and did it all at once. We got busy in the office because pepel kept calling and coming in asking why we stopped the show. July 1, 2002 wasn't all that swift either. It was exciting not to have power yet then again it was nerve racking. Just wish the guests understood taht there was nothing that we could really do about it. Oh well.

Watching the entire front half of the park, at night, have a power outage. Being stuck at the top of the tower in the cabin of Space Spiral for a good 5 min. with about 12 guest . It was awsome...The guest kept clam, i was talking to them the entire time ensuring them what was going on and watching the other rides start back up again.

That power outage scared the crap out of me. I was at schwabinchen and the thing just died. Luckily we were able to get the ride down and the guests off.
luckily i was off that day

While this memory is a little more personal than others, I was unfortunate to attend my graduation ceremonies at my school and some coworkers and best friends decided to hold one for me which was kind of special.

I could of gotten the time off to go to the ceremonies but I decided to work since we were short staffed and all, which was all good.

Those people that helped me make that day really special (you know who you are...guests & friends/coworkers), are true friends and acquaintances.

About a week later, the diploma came right to me at the park and that was really special because for one day, I got to display to some people...an accomplishment that I hope many people get that work at Cedar Point for many years to come.

=)

Wow Doug, that is really cool what everybody did for your graduation :) I'm sorry that I didn't know about it - I know I worked with you for awhile when you were in Zone 4 (I'm pretty sure you are the same Doug I am thinking about!)

Well, if you're coming back next season I'll see you around, I hope you're doing well :)

"Am I still in Cedar Point?"

Yeah, I was a sweepee for about 1/2 of the season and you are probably right.
Like everyone said there are a lot of memories to chose from...so without much more delay:

1. Waking up for a fire drill only to have kippy screaming at me in a panic, then him asking G & I "can i wear this, or does it not match? Seriously, I can't go outside not matching!"

2. The psycho family of birds that lived on the left side of Maggies lift. Everytime that train stopped you prayed to God you didn't have to run up the hill.

3. Working with PTC and laughin hysterically as you dispatched each train. Also seeing how nimble people can be when they want to jump q lines....

4. Living with Kippy, Frank, G, Mike, and just about every other person who slept there....Kippy being all fo 100 lbs. wet who felt the need to always have the room in either extreme heat, or extreme cold (not good when its still early MAY)!

5. Meeting the coolest kids I'll ever know, and keeping in touch with them! (Princess, I'll always love you, RIP)

Yes Justin, Kippy waking me up for the fire drill asking me if he could wear this has to be my favorite memory of the season.

I also loved living with all of you..

i miss you justin

Just trying to chill with some of my friends and in the middle of a really good movie and there being a fire drill.
