What is your best memory of Season 2002?

While the season isn't officially over yet, for many of us we have already left (whether for school or something else...), and it IS slowly and steadily drawing to a close. I was wondering, what has been your favorite memory of working at CP during 2002?

Mantis Ride Night was pretty fun! I love my crew! Then again, our crew party, was...well, it was a long night!

MANTIS ROCKS 2002

Walking to Park Op with my crew behind me in a V was pretty cool. All of us quacking "MAG!" One time some of them even followed me into the office-now that was cool! HEHE My crew rocked and it was fun to play around like that :) I am so proud of my crew this year!

I could write a book about my crew this summer, we were just that good and too many situations, cups of beer being thrown on people in the raft off the observation deck was a good one, with scott going insane because of it...he wanted to literally jump the flume and chase after them....hmmm, the almost constant guy talk around the ride (thank god for cool girls) the fraternity atmosphere we developed, karaoke night at BW-3, The Penguin, the ambigously gay duo, "I need a martini", the pit and the baby duck genocide, list goes on...

well considering the season is not over yet and there are numerous fond memories one for me is this past saturday I was over at Monster and there was this guy in an orange shirt who tried to get on the final ride of the night but the ride op would not let him since he just walked through the exit. When told to get out of the ride the guy just starts going off lie "you are lucky there are children around or I would start swearing" and "boy this park has really gone downhill. And being a drunken moron that this guy was instead of just storming off through the exit gate he decides to go through the enterence and knocked over the garabge can in the way. It was really funny to see this guy.
Wow! Oh so much happened this season, too much to narrow down to just one favorite memory. The Snake crew this year was my most favorite crew that I've ever worked with and we did a lot of crazy stuff. I'll name a few here, starting with the crew roadtrip to Buca Di Beppos for dinner in Columbus, we really scared Webber on that one! Then there was the hotel party at Dusk 'Till Dawn...'nuff said. We also all had fun going out to breakfast and to the beach and just crusing around in Angela's tracker on the days when our ride had no water! Also, there were the many duck rescues we had to do. One of my favorite memories though, was when Angela, Conor, Brian (from Mantis) and myself spent three days in New York City, right after Labor Day. That was by far the most exciting trip I've ever taken anywhere. Thanks to everyone on my crew for an awesome year! Marklar!

Best Memories of 2002:

10. Taking the first ride on Magnum during training week.

9. Getting offered $100 for finding someone's bag....and not taking it (maybe that should be a worst memory).

8. Six Flags trip.

7. Being an Emeffer with Nancy.

6. Tumbeling on Magnum's platform/ grass area.

5. The infamous dance in the q with the crew... signing the autographs afterwards of all the girls.

4. Cleaning up Chilli-cheese fries in the Snake Chute... thanks Arnie.

3. Crew Party at Dusk till Dawn... not that I remember too much of it.

2. Switching over to Snake River mid-season.

1. Processing out early, still getting my bonus, and realizing that I will neve have to hold my thumb up in the air ever again.

Comming back to find that almost all of your crew has either quit or been fired. Atleast moved to different rides. That was just funny, sorry kids. BW-3s with TC, Riding in riches trunk with jimmy.......

My best memory of the season would have to be this past weekend when I got to work Camp Snoopy! I had a blast! I definitely could not work there all summer but it was so much fun going there for a weekend. I was, however, a little upset that it was so cold and I had to cover up my boy scout uniform with my blue suit. That was part of the reason I wanted to work there! Another great memory of the summer is our theory on the male and female sides of Gemini. Red is the male, cause he's dumb, and gets lost all the time. And blue side is the female, cause she has mood swings, and just doesn't even wanna run some days. I will never forget that one cold saturday when we had a mechanical problem on the blue side (big surprise) and had to stop an empty train on the lift. Knowing that it would rollback if we let it go, Fike pulled everyone from Stockade and they all came and rode our train back to the station. It was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen watching all those people walk across our transfer track and up the lift, in various ugly uniforms, while the crowd that had been waiting for an hour, yes an hour for the Gemini, were cheering and clapping. I still need to get my pictures of that day developed. :(

Although it was sad having our crew change so much, I really did enjoy most of the new people we got. I'm especially glad that David and Angela have come to our ride. They are both great leaders and weekends have been a blast.

My best memory? Returning to the park and sitting in Stockade illegally as a former employee with a veritable gaggle of non-employees around me. My supervisor from 2000-2001 entered Stockade, and keep in mind he didn't work at the park this past summer either probably because the sun was too much for his bald dome to handle, and asked me, "you know you aren't allowed to be back here, don't you?" I responded, "yes, and you aren't allowed back here either, what's your point skeezix?" Telling off my old supervisor and winning an argument with him DEFINITELY earns my vote as my best moment this past season.

...that and the ruckus I inadvertantly caused on Gemini when I returned. Bwa ha ha. More ruckus awaits! Bwa ha ha. My presence, generally little more than ethnic flapdoodle, seems to make people cavort wildly and giggle. Alert the paparazzi, roll out the red carpet because I am visiting one more time this year!

I could go on forever with some of the great times I had with my sister, but I'll limit myself to a few. The absolute best time was the Compressor Room Games. Of course Desiree Inc. was the best team. I also loved being the chewy caramel that went with the chocolate persuasion to create the best sandwich. The funniest was being Sandy's designated driver... "Hey guys, I lost my keys." The sadest was my departure, which led to getting my butt cracked quite a few times (I was sore for days), baby powder and oh yeah a shower of water (damn cooler) :-) Oh yeah did I mention the PTC burnings? lol....

Sitting in park-op (obviously) and having a ticked-off guest throw a stapler like a fast-ball at the wall behind my head. After I got over the initial shock and changed my pants, it occurred to me that it was kinda funny!

Ok I have a story for everyone, if you haven't heard about me in the elevator or if you have well here is the true story of what happened. I had a special access group of 3 young girls and their mother come to ride the Mantis and they need to use the elevator. I brought them up to the station and they rode the ride. I put them back in the elevator and shut the door. I put the key in the elevator and hit the down button but it didn't work. So i called maintence and explain the problem, and then called park op and told sarah what was going on. well then i thought i could use the panel in the elevator and take them down that way. so back into the elevator we go i shut the door and turn the key and hit the down button. Well that didn't work either. so i turn around and tryed to open the door but it was locked. i started banging on the glass to let people know that i was stuck. Sandy was in controls and said over spiels"John cross the train". Here comes John crossing the train like some drama queen that he is, saying "girl are you stuck" he was pulling on the door screaming. at this time the people in the elevator with me were asking me if we were stuck or not. i didn't know what to say so i keep asking them what they have rode today trying to get being stuck out of subject. John ran into the control booth to get the keys to unlock the door but i had them in my hand. Debra calls and tells john that she wants to talk to me, john tells her that im lock in the elevator. Finally after everyone on the platform is laughing at me cause i locked myself in the elevator i slide the single key of the elevator thru the crack at the top of the door and john let us out. for the rest of the weekend i had all these silver tags asking me "why the hell would you get into the elevator after you called it down mechincal". anyways it was pretty funny. It doesn't beat the Mantis Crew Party either. Also i want to let my Mantis crew to know that i love them all and MANTIS ROCKS

Jon --> I remember when that happened!! I walked into Park Op and heard Marcia and someone else (I think Jen) talking about it. I couldn't believe it until I saw the dent in the wall... Maybe not the "best" memory for you, but certainly one that will stand out! Thanks for um, sticking your head, er, neck out for the rest of us. *evil snicker*

"The greatest leaders don't take credit for their actions; they don't have to."

Best memory of the summer? Like choosing a favorite child.

It would probably have to be the final "celebrity" ride on Schwabinchen. (Thanks Bill) Followed up by the celebration at Uncle Louie's.

Or maybe the Friday night "park/fog awareness" ride on Raptor.

Snoopy Rocks opening & Snoopy Rocks closing.

Jon

Schwabinchen Spins: 1 (the real last one)

PS: Rob you are still coming soon to my signature line.

Ohh I don't think so Jon.. There is no proof of that as we can't remember who took the picture..

I have to agree with Jon. It's like picking a favorite child (although, my parents obviously did, and I didn't win)

So many.. the "celeberty" ride on La Grande Ta-Ta's (Thanks again Bill).. Meeting the empress of India.. That faithfull day on the Challange Park Golf Course when Bill looked over at me and said "They haven't called you yet??" .. and the run from there to TGI Friday's to celebrate with Adam (thanks Adam).. my first time climbing Mantis, my favorite ride to fix something.. or Raptor.. or Meanstreak.. or... you get the idea.. The look on some regular's and GTTP members faces when they saw me in uniform with a CP name tag on...

Too many memories.. to many new friends.. see you in next season my friends...
