What is your best memory of Season 2002?

My favorite memory has to be Kippy waking me up during a fire drill to ask me what he should wear! I could have killed him that night, but I got over it and it is so funny now
Wow, a favorite memory... there's so many. I would have to say that being the 'short kid' during training week was rather fun, and bonding with my Mantis crew-the short time I was there-is a very good memory. At the same time, raising hell in the park with my Wicked Twister crewmates would have to be a favorite as well. ------------------

Like everybody else, there are so many. Everybody that I met this year and knew from last year, those are my best memories. My job, it was wonderful, I'm pretty sure I had one of the best jobs in the park, it was great walking around and talking to everybody.

I used to come to Cedar Point just for the rides, but these past two years, I've realized it's the whole place and the people you are there with. I've ridden everything a gazillion times, but that place really does get better every year with all the people I get to hang with.

Well, because Lisa started this thread, it made me think of getting stuck on Wicked Twister during employee ride 'night' earlier this year. One of the most hilarious things I've ever seen.

Oh my where do I begin. Well I have to say anything Weber did (geese) created a favorite memory. Whenever he'd call me ride and told me that if I didn't do something he would cut me I couldn't help but grin. Or the drag show at the X where my friend and I made out the whole time because we didn't want to get hit on by members of the same sex. Or ride Schawb, over and over and over and over again when Wicked Twister broke down in May. And lastly, Sunday night when were all together and nothing in the world matter except that moment in time. And when it came time to say my goodbyes, I cried like a little girl but I have some terrific memories from that night that will live with me for years,

"Who throws a shoe?? Really!! You fight like a woman!!"

Millennium Force camp was great but my best memory was.... When Jo Datz told me to go get a pallet of Ice.I was like hey I only weigh 134 an shes like can you get it yourself im like Ive never gotten one before, So she sent this foreigner with me. An he didnt really understand english well. When we got the ice this pallet was huge an it was a very very busy saturday. We were pulling/pushing it when the foreigner forgot there was a downslope near the matterhorn and the stack of ice like 9 foot tall like 3,000 pounds came rolling well we got that stopped from running over people because he released the jack lol. After getting it across park near the entry behind red garter another foreigner wanted to help us push it up the slope behind the red garter. He was pushing his hardest not knowing we had to turn the pallet which is what i was doing before going up the slope and when i turned it he still was pushing and the ice fell all over the railroad tracks. Across from the mantis queue area. I ran too the millennium force camp and told the dm and my supervisors what happened, lets just say we never packed up that ice faster before then that day. Thank god no train was coming. Hey the guests had something to laugh about! lol It wasnt my fault those foreigners .

Tyler, I remember the Wicked Twister ride "night" (or should I say, Schwabinchen ride night), too! I assume the rope they used on later days was just a little bit stronger. ^_^ That was hilarious (and I never swung my feet in the station again... one close call is enough!!).

The best time at CP would be when Kippy and I got gay bashed every other train due to the fact that we were the two biggest drama queens on the Mantis.
Hey Mike and Kippy how could you forget about the bird on the lift? I know it was close to you heart, but more so your head! haha

Mantis 2002
Broken Down Blue Ride 2001

One of the most memorable times I had this season was the day that I did controls for like 6 hours. Naomi and I were the only 2 that could do controls one weekend so we just switched between the two of us. She was busy doing paperwork and other stuff and didn't feel like doing controls so I did them pretty much all day long. I was pretty bored after being in there for 2 hours I decided to start playing with things and unscrewing things. I wanted to take the tab below the release ready brakes button that says "release ready brakes" and turn it upside-down to confuse Naomi when she would do controls. While I was messing around I had to bump up the train that was in the ready brakes so I wouldn't setup. I pressed the button not realizing there wasn't anything below it to hold it up and it fell right through the control panel. I tried really hard to pull the button back up so I wouldn't setup but I couldn't get it up. So I just shoved my finger in the whole and held the button while the train was being bumped up. I tried for like a half an hour to get the button out but I couldn't get it. I just kept my hand overtop of the whole so nobody would see me. The worst part was when Karrah, Fike, and Webber came on the platform to talk to Naomi about something.

Webber stepped behind me in the control booth and asked me if he could drive. I was like, "uhhh do you really want to?" he said "yeah" and I just kind of gave him this puppy-like face that I wanted to do controls. Naomi was telling me to let him do them and I was like, "no, I wanna do them". Webber said it was alright and he left with Fike and Karrah. After they left I was so relieved that I pulled that one off. I ended up managing to stay in controls for the rest of the night until we closed. After we closed and the ride was powered down, I showed Naomi and she started choking me like Homer Simpson would do to Bart.

Hey All! Its Josh from the now infamous Ripcord Crew 2002. I have sooo many memories from this past summer its hard to narrow it down to the best. From the 4 AM Commons Fire Drills to the 20 minute lines to get into Commons because of the infamous words "Can You Open Your Bag For Me?" Part of me also wants to say that my best memory is that of the daily Krispy Kreme Donuts. I also won't soon forget the late night Ripcord/Racepark WiffleBall game that became an all out blood bath. Or the night that I accidently drove home with the winch key to operate the ride, and had to drive back to the park at 4 AM to put it back for Maintenence. As for the Ripcord itself, my favorite memory was a day when we were landing a guest who was flying when "water" started dripping all over us. When we landed the guest, we asked him if he had been at soak city, the beach, or on a water ride. He responded "No...why do you ask." And to this day we still dont know what was dripping on us.

Indeed I guess your belongings are searched without probable cause when going to your dorm room

Josh did you bathe in bleach after your shift? I am sure that bleach will kill any sort of virus that you may have come in contact with that idiot guest....

Josh M.'s avatar
Haha...no...at the point that happened, I still had about 6 hours left of my shift. But I cant guarantee that whats on the floors and walls of the showers in commons is much cleaner than what rained down on me that day....however I must give kudos to Rose and the other cleaning people who were always busy cleaning the bathrooms every morning!

It was most likely a bile byproduct! Nice thought eh?
Josh's example is why when I worked the Point we called park patrons "animals". I have yet to hear anyone use that term...Is there a "death penalty" for using that highly complimentry and accurate phrase in referrring to park customers?
Josh M.'s avatar
While I really dont know what was going on or dripping off of this guest. I wouldnt go to the point of calling them animals. I would have to say that the majority of guests are normal human beings, with standard logic skills. Its just a few who ask what ocean CP is on....

Best memories.....Best Memories....hmmm....oh so many for oh so little space! How about the time when it was raining and we were down (Oh course) and there was no one in the park and no supervisors around and no managment around, so what did we do.....Do you think we could push the train out of the station???? NO! I don't think we could.........We did.....oh the great times.........its not like we had never pushed it before, with maintaince and gold tags and all, but this time we did it alone and it was so funny, we were laughing so hard we could barely push it back into place........Or how about that week when we had thunderstorms like everynight and we started getting ummm...whats the word...Brave! and started using walkie talkies and the maintaince ppl got mad at us, and yelled at us :) OH THE GREAT TIMES!! or how about the time when we all got sent home b/c we were going to be down for the rest of the day!! So what did we do we played in the park and caused some major drama that evening. "Wicked Twister...clap...clap..clap..clap..clap!" Whats wrong with having a little ride pride?! How about the parties at BW's and the going away party at Louie's for some crew members?! (remember those rich, kimmy, amanda, stephanie, Jen, Seth!!) Or just Crew Parties at Rich's ;) (the last one i attended was fun :)) and Rich's famous....."Big Fish, Little Fish, Card Board Box!" wasn't that great. Oh and one more time pops in my head....I was at Unload 3 and Amanda was at Unload 2 and we were doing some "Bring It On" songs, we were singing and dancing and having a great time, our line was about an hour and a half. Well needless to say about 45 min. later I had a guest aske me if I would do another Dance for them...they had watched me dancing! it was so funny!.....Or how about my high clear at unload 2....yes thats right, the unload 3 person is suppose to give the high clear, but i was at unload 2 and heard the breaks release and w/o thinking my arm shot up and gave the high clear (luckily so did unload 3) and not only didn't i catch myself for about 10 sec. all of my crew did too and they are still making fun of me to this day!! well like i said, "So many memories, to little space!" I think i've put in a few good ones and i hope to hear some responses to them :) Thanks and luv ya bunches!!

Wicked Twister Crew 2002

I will never forget when we got a train stuck in the horse shoe on Gemini. Cracked me up.
A great Memory for me was me and Jenilee killing huge spiders in giant wheel control room ...we would have the light on and all the guests could see us and would be jumping up and down screaming we would even throw that hardes cup for change, at the spiders...Haley would laugh at us so much .But we couldent kill spiders without eachother it was like a motavational thing..hehe we were wacko i know..

also when i was in space spiral and it stoped halfway down ,so i called down to platform and i was flipping out .So then jason called me and told me not to panic in front of guests but i was like "shut up i hate heights" and after that he was like push the down button..heheh needless to say i was a little freaked...........lol
