Looks like a sweet corkscrew to me.

I don't think Walt would post the two tiny pics I posted, but I guess I could send him the pics anyway. lol

BTW, I'm heading up there tomorrow, I'm taking my cam, of course, and my laptop. I can do live updates from the park, and provide pics if allowed to. If there was a way I could provide you y'all with 'live' video, I would. But I will have video up somewhere tomorrow. :)

All the renders appear wrong. Think half corkscrew (or half heartline roll) followed by a half loop. Coaster enters the element going West, twists upside down, goes into the half loop where it exits going East.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Shaggszgn,
Those are some nice camera shots! I wish they were bigger, but we get the idea. It reminds me of how the Raptor twists & turns...which I love!
Too bad it's obviously going to have overhead restraints, which I hate...specifically on the Mantis. That ride hurts.

Little Leslie,
If you were a Little Larry or Little Louie you wouldn't be complaining about the Over The Shoulder Restraints on Mantis - You'd be complaining about the Under The Man Land Restraints.

Why is everyone saying that it will have OTSR like its a fact....There is this multi-looping coaster a few hundred miles south without OTSR's. Come to think of it, there is another coaster there with a loop without OTSR's.
Inversions do not mean it will have OTSR.....maybee if it were 1988 still and arrow was building the thing but there have been vast improvments in technology since then. There are quit a few looping coasters out there without them.

MrInkSpot! Okay, now I'm laughing pretty hard! I'm sorry...I forgot to be more sensitive (no pun intended) to your twigs & giggleberries! Men have it bad on the Mantis....but I have it bad because I'm short and those overhead restraints tear me up!

lol, Yeah, my calfs usually hurt real bad too right before the MCBR. Rough ride for me (even though I'm 6'4")

^But, it's Intamin, and that's Intamin's current trend. I think the Storm Runner/Kingda Ka type of restraint, which is basically an improved lapbar with some relatively small OTSRs attached, is a great new addition to the world of safety devices compared to the alternatives (hard-ish, bulky OTSR).
Plus, It's Cedar Point, and safety is the #1 priority of, not only them, but the insurance company that is carrying them. Insurance companies usually like to lean toward the OTSRs on everything with a loop.
This is Intamin we'll talking about here, they've been putting OTSR's on non looping coasters lately, there will be OTSR's on this one, no doubt about it. To me it seems like Intamin isn't too 'proud' of there lap bar system.

Twigs and giggleberries?...That's a new one on me...
Not to be confused with Twisted Wicker 08 from 2002
For what it is worth, the port aventura coaster has a very unusual looking inversion. Much more of an in-line twist than this one, but interesting comparison in the sense that both these coasters seem to have elements and lay-outs (e.g., very low to the ground) that are unique.
Why? Their lapbar system works better than most traditional systems as it provides a custom fit. I like it a lot better than the traditional ratcheting system. I wish Intamin wouldn't let the incompetence of one ride-op ruin a good thing.
Secondly, Storm Runner was installed before the "incident" and KK is in the same park system. I can understand SF wanting OTSR's on KK so as not to have a repeat of Superman.

I can also understand CP bowing to the lawyers' and insurance companies' wishes. There's no doubt this will have OTSRs.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
