What is everyones deal with Millenium Force??

I normally only get board when I'm building a fence or doing other carpentry. I don't really see why anyone would get board when they go to CP...

Maybe they put their hands up too high on Mine Ride?

My two cents is anyone who is bored with MF lives close enough to the point to be a spoiled little brat, like others have implied. I could only wish I was as spoiled as all you. Then again, maybe im happy for it. I cherish every single ride I take on anything at the point. Ive been to parks east and west and you all by far have the best park from DT to WT to MS to MF. I suppose if you had to travel 4 hours to Kings Island or Holiday World, almost 6 to CP you would have a different opinion. I am happy anyday to drive 6 hours to ride MF or anything else at the best park in the world. I think we have some spoiled brats. My two cents.

Amen to that. I live in Canada and visit C.P. two consecutive days per year only, and that's it.

Millennium Force is an AMAZING roller coaster and after you've been to Canada's wonderland (or if that's your home park, like me), you realize that having close access to Cedar Point is being spoiled.

Riding Dragster, the Force, and all the other coasters is something I look forward to all year round.

(Can't wait 'till Maverick by the way!)

I don't understand how you can call someone spoiled for not liking MF. I still like Raptor, I still like Magnum, I like Maverick, Gemini, Mean Streak, etc etc etc.. I still like Millennium Force too, I just think its overrated and boring after the first drop and first overbank.

The only coaster I don't really ride anymore at the point is Dragster.

^^ - I'll agree to that. Although I also don't ride Mine Ride anymore, but that's due to my legs just don't fit any more. And even though its a fun ride, the discomfort is not worth it.

I don't want to sound like I'm challenging anyone here, but here it goes. If you could have built a better layout of Millennium Force, how would you have built it? I mean come on?! Cedar Point spent over $25 Million Dollars to bring in Millennium Force and some of you guys hate it, and some of you guys love it. I'm not saying some of you should like it, but what I'm saying is give it some credit.

Who ever said we never gave it credit? I compromise, it was a great coaster when it came out.. but now that they spent $21 million on Maverick.. i'd much rather have them spent $25 million on a S:RoS type ride on the same layout.

Well, before this year, i would have disagree with any body saying some ride better than mf. but maverick became my new #1. drop mf to #2.

I would have built it like Magnum.

Only in Lansing somewhere. ;)

its funny how a new ride opens up and everyone jumps ship and talks how an older ride is losing its touch.

What are you talking about? People have always been saying Millennium Force is boring. It's just now more people realize how un-exciting a bunch of overbanked turns are.

And for the record, I would have a tough time making the decision between Millennium Force and Cedar Creek Mine Ride.

And I only get to ride it once or twice a year and I also find it boring. So, at least in my case, the point many people are trying to make is totally invalid.

Edit: I'm still glad that Millennium Force is at Cedar Point. I couldn't imagine the park without it. It has brought them a lot of success, money, and fans. It can be a good ride, but for me it always seems to be hit and miss. The "miss" rides are the ones I'm calling boring. *** Edited 8/5/2007 8:43:58 PM UTC by CP Tay Tay***

I wouldn't go so far as saying that people who live near CP are "spoiled brats", but I do see what he is saying. I think that if those of you who visit the park 3 or more times per year start to get a little bit bored with some of the rides, wether you notice it or not. If you had to drive (in my case) 5 hours to get to CP and you only got to make one trip per year and be at the park for ~1.5 days (Starlight and Full Day) per year, you probably would still enjoy MF and some of the other rides (DT, MS, etc.) more.

Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless

^^Let me rephrase that.
There have always been some enthusiasts who said it was boring. Since this site is mostly, if not totally enthusiasts you're going to hear more of it than you would of just normal park-goers talking about it. I admit that I thought those people were crazy when they said that, but I was not very critical of any rides at the time...and now I am.
I guess boring isn't quite the term I should use. Maybe overrated or not quite exciting.
But who are you to tell me, or anyone that something is wrong with them if they don't like it as much? If Millennium Force is the best in your book, that's great. I can deal with it even though it's not my favorite.

Now take Nitro-no massive 1st drop mind you, but I would take it (speed and TONS of substance) over MF any day. Impartial to B&Ms? Maybe ;)
I take that to be a yes :)

I love Nitro also.

Maybe it's just me...

but has anyone ridden The Force lately? IE... within the past week?

It really seems to be flying through the course, a lot faster than what it normally does. Instead of so-so floater air, you now get a decent amount on the 2 hills going to and from Millennium Island? It seems like you really whip over that last over bank too, and hit the retractable magnetic breaks hard, way faster than I have ever seen it.

I have ridden Millennium plenty of times before, but I have never seen it run as fast as I saw it this past Thursday.

You guys sicken me!! ;)

To be honest, I don’t care for Magnum just as much as you guys don’t care for Dragster. The only time you'll ever see me on Magnum is if it's a complete walk-on. And Millennium is starting to get less and less attention from me than I thought. I haven’t been on her the past 4 trips and it's certainly due to some of its thunder that has been stolen by Maverick. In addition to that, she seems to go down at least once or more times whenever I’m there. So that too plays a factor.

And if anyone's confused on my stand between Dragster and Maverick, it's Dragster all the way.:) She's just running fantastically this year, and the ERT and my 200th /11 rides in a row record cemented my positioned.

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

It's because it's hot out. The best time to ride is very hot (95+ F) but not so humid days. The wheel's bearings get near scorching hot and the air is less dense. Both lower running friction. Since there are no trim brakes on the ride, the wheels are setup to give the best operation between hot days and cold ones. Lower friction wheels will cause the ride to overspeed and shut down on hotter days while higher friction will make rollbacks more difficult to prevent on cold days.

From a operational standpoint, what they have done is great. The ride has a larger window of operation than most rides in the park. It does detract from the ride a bit though. Also, the layout past the first drop isn't designed to be intense either.

I don't know what substance you guys are talking about.. but ok.. :)

I found Nitro to be subpar.. too many turns, no airtime.. what a true B&M speed machine should be.. IE Apollo's Chariot.

But back to MF.. I haven't ridden it in about 2 weeks.. but I do remember it flying through the course on more then one occasion earlier this year.. in May/June for instance. Just because its warm doesn't mean it will automatically run 'faster'.
