People shouldn't be bashing Millennium, people should be wondering why the hell Magnum is giving me thoughts that it wants to turn evil like Mean Streak. I love riding it but i don't understand how it's getting to be so rough that it's uncomfortable.
Thank you, I feel the same way dude. Hey maybe we should ask the people that have rode Millennium Force, what is a better ride? Cedar Creek Mine Ride or Millennium Force? I guarantee everyone will say Millennium Force. There are more yawns on that coaster. I don't see why everyone says it's just about the drop on Millennium Force. In my opinion its not all about the drop!!! The second hill after the drop has the feeling of flying and the two airtime hills are awesome too. I'm sure down the road Millennium Force will be just as bumpy as Magnum, but I'll still love it. Millennium Force is still my #1.
To put it simply, the ride is horrible.
For the most part, once I started to ride rides with actual SUBSTANCE.. Maverick, Griffon, El Toro.. my Top 10 pretty much.. MF became massivly pointless.
Besides the first drop, which general opinion is good, the ride dulls out into one long dull TTD break run.
MF isn't even in my Top 20 anymore.. and once I go to the midwest next year, it will drop even lower.
But, as a few have said, its all up to how you feel about it. It used to be my #1.. but then I became an enthusiast. Each person has different preferences.

^^This post is spot on!!
Look, MF's drop is one of the highest in the world, and definitely very, very cool!! *However* as TTD4Life so astutely pointed out, rides like Maverick and ET (and many others) are just so complete throughout....
And as far as MF's alleged "air"?! Again, if you ride Voyage, Maverick, or even Magnum, you truly know what *real air* is!!
Also, who's to say MF even goes 93 mph anymore?? You think these rides don't ever slow down over time some? Son of Beast couldn't hit it's once posted 78.3 mph (or whatever) if greased with baby oil! And besides don't most modern coasters get up to near 70 mph anyway?? How much faster is "93 mph" compared to that, and is that even a selling point anymore?!

^Millennium Force is still hitting 90+ everytime. It needs that to complete the circuit. If it didn't, we wouldn't have a ride now would we? :)

I personally think Magnum is better than Millenium Force just because of air time and the roughness of the ride. Millenium though is also great in its own way by the fact of its drop and smoothness.
Even when It first opened i wasnt all that excited about it. 4 overbanks and a few hills. WHOOPDI DO!
There is really nothing to it. Maverick has alot of different elements but MF only has 2. (Hills and overbanks) The more i talk about it on here the more I dont like so Im stopping now.

Guess what? I have been on Voyage, Maverick, Magnum, & many other great "airtime" coasters and I still think that MF has the best airtime of any coaster. Period.
The only other coasters that even come close for good airtime in my book are a little woodie at SFKK called Thunder Run and the Voyage (maybe Blue Streak on a good run). As you can see, I don't think any other steel coasters have "great" airtime. Yes Magnum has airtime, but it is usually uncomfortable and not very enjoyable.
Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless
I love MF, its my #2 in the park after Mav, or tied for #1 with Mav and Dragster (i love them all) . It has speed, height, an awesome turn at the end, and very good airtime. I think it is much better than Magnum. I dont get what the big deal about Magnum is. Its a good coaster, but bumpy and rough, and slow at times. MF is way better!
I agree with many of you..MF is not as great as it once was.
It hasn't changed, it's your opinion of it that has changed, though.
IMO, what has really happened here is a simple state of habituation. Many of you have ridden MF (and every other coaster at CP for that matter) so often that what makes a coaster like MF incredible is now lost.
The ride has not changed at all. Most people are lucky to get on MF maybe once a year, if that. Furthermore, an "enthusiast" should know better than to state their opinions of coasters as a fact.
It's wonderful that many of you are getting the opportunity to ride coasters elsewhere. I myself have recently been lucky enough to have the opportunity to start riding other parks' coasters.
But guess what?
If all those other parks were your "home" park, and you rode Nitro, El Toro, Voyage, etc...as much as you have ridden CP's coasters, there's a good chance you'd be saying the same thing about them on some other park's unofficial website.

Promoter of fog.
^Maybe....
But, the funny thing about that, I know people who are fanboys of SFNE, SFGAdv, BGE, Alton.. ect and don't like MF... yet still love their home rides much much more (S:RoS, El Toro, Griffon.. ect).
Its all a matter of personal opinion really.
You either hate MF or love it. Fanboy or not.
Hell, my fanboy friends who've ridden some great rides elsewhere hate MF.. yet some who've ridden rides which, IMO, are lightyears better, still have MF as one of their favs.
(of course.. those fanboys who like it only ride it maybe once or twice every few years... haha)

its funny how a new ride opens up and everyone jumps ship and talks how an older ride is losing its touch.
What are you talking about? People have always been saying Millennium Force is boring. It's just now more people realize how un-exciting a bunch of overbanked turns are.
And for the record, I would have a tough time making the decision between Millennium Force and Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
And I only get to ride it once or twice a year and I also find it boring. So, at least in my case, the point many people are trying to make is totally invalid.
Edit: I'm still glad that Millennium Force is at Cedar Point. I couldn't imagine the park without it. It has brought them a lot of success, money, and fans. It can be a good ride, but for me it always seems to be hit and miss. The "miss" rides are the ones I'm calling boring. *** Edited 8/5/2007 8:43:58 PM UTC by CP Tay Tay***
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
I find it funny that people are treating MF like an old girlfriend. "She was great at first but we've been together for so long we just don't have that spark anymore." In the meantime Magnum is the ex you still fool around with and Maverick is the new girl that you just met and begining to fall in love.
The sad part is i've met people odd enough at the park that this may actually be the case.

Thats because..
1. Magnum was your first love in high school.. but you both went seperate ways until you met up again after Millennium Force stole all your money.. shes aged a bit, but still retains those sexy qualities to still be a MILF.
2. Maverick is that fresh out of college beauty, ready to please everyone.. and she does.. every time you take a ride.
Millennium Force is just the cheating ex-wife who you fell for fast, forgot to sign the prenups, and then ruined your life because she got old, crappy, and didn't prove to be a great ride anymore.

I think the issue is that many coaster enthusiasts (at least the vocal ones) think that a ride is boaring if it doesn't toss them around every which way until you can't tell wich way is up. Millennium Force was designed to be something different, that the park doesn't already have. It was desined to be fast, with large sweeping elements. This isn't the type of ride many enthusiasts are looking for. The ride was desinged primarily to appeal to the general pubilc, and I think it does that well.
Personally, I think Millennium Force is a great ride, but not my all time favorite ride. I try to get at least one lap every time I visit. It may not appeal to all people, but to each their own.
I would say MF isn't as smooth as it used to be. But it's still a great coaster.
"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006
I'm pretty sure after a first ride on MF there was never a person that said "Hmmm that sure was boring." I think after you do something over and over again 500 times it may tend to get a bit lackluster. Last I checked MF was either the #1 or #2 coaster in the world rated by people that have been on far more coasters then most of the people here sure have, myself included.
To me its like eating Velvetta shells and cheese for 7 years and then trying Kraft shells and cheese twice and claiming its better because it has much better "cheese" time.
I think the people who, all of a sudden think MF is boring, have a negative biased toward the ride.

Or we just like a ride with Substance.
Magnum is my #1. I've ridden it a lot more than Millennium Force.
I think Millennium Force is awesome. I think it has plenty of substance. I think anybody who disagrees is a schmuck.
