What are they thinking ?!

Walt, at least the ride op had the testicular fortitude to say it to your face, I guess. Better than an anonymous email.

But, you're right.. Who does that?

You had all of two posts in this thread deleted. The first one I deleted because of profanity. The second one was deleted by Jeff. I can only assume it was because of the trolling nature of the post...

And I'd delete the rest for not following our simple rules if it weren't for the fact that we were trying to make a point.

But, when you post....watch what you say. Like what I believe Jeff brought up earlier; people from the company come on here all the time and read what is said.

Practice what you preach. You came on here saying how the CEO of the company you wish to work for, has no common courtesy, sleeps on the job, and could not do what you do in the workplace.

Spicy, I know what I said was wrong. Thats why I deleted it and I appologized. No need to bring it back up. It was my way of venting; and like I said, I shouldnt have done it on here. It's over.

One thing I thought of (and maybe I read it in here and forgot) has anyone actually called the park and talked to someone in HR to confirm this as the wage?

Goodbye MrScott

2 - Who is government to decide what workers are worth? Working as a seasonal worker, you don't need a living wage, just beer money.

Actually most of us do need a living wage. Now and days CP is all you can get. You come off more than just a little ignorant and, to me, its quite irritating to hear that we are just working for beer money.

Wow. It usually takes till February before we get to this level of bickering on the forums... or wait, never mind. Kuhm-bai-yah anyone?

If you don't like it, work elsewhere or stfu. We start people off at a wage. If they don't like it, they don't have to take the job. We don't hold a gun to their heads, and we've had plenty of people pass on it once they found out what they'd start at.

I don't understand, still, why we even have a minimum wage.

You havent changed a bit Ben.

If you are trying to support a family on minimum wage seasonal work, its time to grow up.
If you are trying to make mortgage/rent and car payments on minimum wage seasonal work, its time to grow up.
If you are trying to make a career out of minimum wage seasonal work, its time to grow up.
If you are trying to make some extra spending money, then you are in the right spot.

Why change what is otherwise perfect?

Wow, eleven pages of a thread about payment at a seasonal destination that only operates from May to end of Oct. Lets count, that is almost four months of full time work and around two and a half months on weekends. Not a carrier builder here, unless you are willing to put the time in and make an attempt to work full time at Corp at some point.

Try working for the cruise industry some day and then comeback and bitch. There is a reason why you see American owned cruise ships with all of those other countries flags (Panama, Nassau, Costa Rica, etc…) on their life rafts and such. This is because that is their port of registry. American cruise ships register the ships paperwork in another country to avoid US labor laws(However they still need to follow US coastguard regulations on other items when porting in the US, thus no Cuban Cigars can be brought back.). I also tipped well beyond the automatic withdrawl for good service and food to them. Some people probably had a base wage much less than minimum wage. However they made up for it on being

Pleasant

, good food and drinks. Thus I gave them extra... I never mind paying and tipping a little more when I get quality.

I talked with a great many of these people, and trust me no one who even has access to read this site has it that bad.

Not to have a long rant, but if minimum wage is what you desire. Please click on the following links. They are also open year round and may provide some health benefits...

I also strongly suspect they are trying to get a new exception and that if they cannot they will pay minimum wage. Why?Well, I hope Kinzel is smart enough to know that even if what they are doing now is completely legal, they would still end up paying more to defend themselves in the class-action lawsuits than the extra pay would be.

^ Maybe it is the alcohol in me tonight, but what the hell are you talking about on a class-action lawsuit? Are you trying to create one and get a few buddy's on board? How hard is it to accept the fact that you do not have to work there if you can not agree with the conditions?

Last edited by Bill2,

Wow weird thought here. Cedar Point will be open no matter what wage they pay anyone this year.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

But, Dickie K sure as hell doesnt want his staff to know he cares. Everytime I walk past the man, I never even get a "hi" or anything. No common courtesy at all. Not to mention, when you walk by his office, he's asleep most of the time. Chief, I may get disappointed and I may get punished...but, it'll all be worth it I guess...for me, anyway. Bleeding blue and red..yeah, ive done that for 3 seasons now...along with sweat, tears, bruises...you name it...and, im tired. A summer job shouldnt be like this. I guess it took me this long to fnally figure out. Theres no way I can take up for that place in the least.

Its fine; I just think that this post was immature, and completely un-called for

I'm going to suggest you stop drinking. I don't work at the park. Never have. But the fact is that Cedar Fair is a major company and every bloodsucking lawyer within 50 miles of Sandusky has already heard about this and is planning on finding some employees to put together a class action. Even if Cedar Fair WINS any lawsuits, they will still have likely spent hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of dollars to do it.

Isn't there a clause in the Ohio legislature that seasonal workers do not have to be paid minimum wage?

Someone said that...if so forget the lawsuit. It is supply / demand. Sucks for some foreign workers where their currency is much stronger then the dollar. But it is also a full time temporary job, and in this economy many people will jump on the possibility of working at a place with such fringe benefits. You do have a bus that carts you around (no vehicle needed here, so uninsure it, park it in the garage, and no high summer gas prices for you). You have inexpensive housing close to an amusement park and multiple water parks.

You have the chance to work 40+ hours a week at $7 an hour is it? Plus a bonus if you complete your contract? And if the clause is true, then this is a great deal. I cannot think of how many under privileged people could take advantage of this kind of opportunity. Not even under privileged, but just people without jobs.

You should be paid according to state minimum wage laws, and if a place like CP thinks they need not apply they better go to court with the books and show the court system how they would bankrupt the company by paying more wages. Because then the court might see in favor of CP that it is better to have 3,000 temporary jobs with many more thousand created because of this park as well, than no park at all. And then you donate to the courts campaign and get yourself some legislature passed.

Let the drink flow like the snow.

When the company you're working for posts the wage on their website, it's common knowledge and open for discussion on any website that decides to discuss it. Once again, if you don't like it find another site that will coddle you and hold your hand.

This is the internet, I'm pretty sure the government lost the regulation attempts they have made on it. Since when was it NOT ok to discuss a publicly posted wage anywhere on the internet?

When those people BRING it to a public forum! Duh!

Your posts clearly make it obvious that you have not read this entire thread. Give it a rest man, no one wants to hear you talk anymore.
