What are they thinking ?!

I worked in just about every possible theme park job during my youth, at several different parks. "Ride Operator", in general", was the easiest (and often time the most boring) position I held.

There were a few exceptions: Working the kiddie rides was great fun but lots of work because of demanding parents. Working the go-karts at Geauga Lake (before there were mechanisms to automatically shut down cars) was quite a chore.

Food services, of course, was a lot of work. Games was a lot of "work" in the sense that I had to talk all day to try and get people to come in and play the games. Guest Relations was tough because you dealt with complaints, for the most part, all day long.

Ride Operator though? Really, it isn't much different than working on an assembly line. The same, repetitive motions, very little guest interaction (in the sense that you really didn't have a lot of time to interact with each guests...even though you interact quickly with lots of guests).

Wow, two employees battling it out for best employee of the year.

Let me ask the two of you this: ever try working as a sweep or garbage hauler?

If not, I suggest you try, and then come back and tell me that being a ride-op is as hard as you try to make it out to be.
