Web Cam Activity and Testing..Oh My!

OK - now they're back to refreshing every 60 seconds, but at least they're refreshing to the right cams! Geez...looks like a winter wonderland out there. It's snowing here, an hour away, but it's clear there. Gotta love Northern Ohio weather!

I highly doubt they will be working tomorrow on the holiday, but if the weather permits them to work Friday, my guess is they're building on Friday.

Does anyone know if they will be working a Thanksgiving?

While watching construction might be preferable to watching the Lions on Thursday, I personally will have better things to do. Hopefully, so will all of you.

Brian, you get my award for best post of the day. Of course, some people may not be able to make it 24 hours without posting.

Unfortunately, I will probably miss all kinds of thought-provoking posts b/c I won't get back online until the end of the weekend or even Monday.

Does anyone know why the link for the 3rd camera off the CP webpage does not link to the live image. (like the one on Virtual Midway) Is this maybe in case a accident happens so they can stop the camera before it seen by lots of people on the web. Just curious

Otto, I don't think it's anything as sinister as all that...I just think it's a glitch.
would this be the same glitch that just randomly stops the web cam any hour of the night and then it takes till midmorning the next day to turn it back on. Also the same one that use to only load half of the image on the ground level cam

They stop the webcams at night huh? I wanted to see a giant black screen too...

no need to just let them run 24 hours a day. Especial if it you can't get them turned back on at daylight. most people know that when it dark they won't see anything.

i have to say that it angers me alot that these webcams are never at the current moment and they always like go for a while in the morning and then freeze at 11 am and thats the picture for the rest of the day
They do run all day. Just use the direct image url

I just noticed on the ground webcam that if you look closely that it appares to be some new track by the wall but it is not flat track or brack track it seems that it has a box shape so maybe they are going to add that on after the brack track and do some more elements or could it just be for the track to go into the station? Does anyone have any ideas about this?

One other thing could it be possible if that wall could be blocking somthing maybe a turn or anther element mebay that wall is to protect cedar point secret so we would still think that cedar point is still building a Lanch brack tophat so maybe they are doing somthing behide it. What do you think about this?

Live to ride ride to live
What's life without rollercoasters!!!

I noticed that too. You can also see the track from Power Tower (camera one). It might just switch back to box track like Xcellerator does. Twistedrails has some pictures that show that.
Or it could just be sitting there temporarily. Might be for the launch side.

Oh my gawd!!! Is that ice on the bay? On the PT cam, beyond MF to the left and to the left of the Bay Point sandbar. I'm afraid winter is here a little early. They aren't going to be able to pour concrete much longer.
I was under the impression concrete can be poured all year round...providing you can still dig.
------------------
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
Concrete can be poured year-round, but it must be covered and maintained at temperatures above freezing. The majority of the water must evaporate for the concrete to cure properly. If it freezes, it won't cure until it thaws. If it freezes and thaws, freezes and thaws, and so on, well, I think everyone knows what that does to concrete. That's one reason why we have chuck holes. Many projects cannot stand the increased costs of heating the pours for days on end while the concrete cures. Also, the concrete can freeze while in the truck. Many projects are either completed or put on hold once cold weather arrives. The state of Ohio has a requirement that state funded road construction projects that involve pouring of concrete can't be started prior to March 1st (+/-) and must be completed by around Nov. 30th. That's one of the reasons why many roads are being made entirely of blacktop. They can build them all year long.
They are working with the cranes in the snow and high winds today...I'm surprised....Does anyone know from previous pictures what two pieces are making up the 7th catwalk..Or are they just putting the catwalk up in two sections versus previously the catwalk was constructed of the two section on the ground...
Man it's snowing hard. Imagine how windy and cold it is being 350 feet in the air, they're sure earning that paycheck today..
