Honestly, I forget what the sound was.
I think it was just a bell sound like you would hear at a train crossing. The combination of the heavy fog and LED lights near the end of the tunnel were an awesome effect, but I understand why they discontinued them.

I know this thread is about the water bombs but I still also miss the led lights and rail road crossing effects and sound in the tunnel, but we all know the chances of them fixing that stuff is close to zero percent.
Seeing as the "fog" on Rougarou is already missing, I would say it's definitely zero percent.

I couldn't care less about the water bombs, but I love, love, LOVE the new restraints. And the speed taking off from the tunnel is so great. We spent more time on Maverick this week than any other ride.

I should also add, the new restraints were a huge improvement, and I loved the ride before. I never experienced any type of headbanging with Maverick, but I always found them so darn constrictive and overly bulky. The new restraints add a level of freedom that makes for a significant positive change.

Much like the fog/mist in Maverick's tunnel, I heard that the fog at the bottom of the drop was causing problems of the electrical type. Now, take that for what you will but they DO still have it on. It's just not as "voluminous" as it was on media day.

I don't understand why some gentle mist would cause electrical problems anyway. The ride gets exposed to rain and should be able to operate in the rain. What can some mist do? There doesn't even seem to be electrical equipment in the area of the mist.
