Vertigo being Dismantled

Also, it's interesting that there is absolutely NO information on VertiGo at the official website. Even puting Vertigo in the search returned '0' items.

"The dismantling of the VertiGo rides will begin immediately."

Sounds pretty serious.

Why couldn't they bring it back then as a regular park ride then? No fee.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never even got to do absolutely insane :(

I am so going to miss Vertigo. I only got 4 rides on it, everyone of them was incredable, and left me with a bigger adrenaline rush than MF and Magnum combined. I kind of feel a little tear comming on...*sniff*. :(

Oh, so they read the statement released yesterday (see news section) or read it on any of a dozen Ohio news sites? Wow, they're really on top of things.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but in the Sandusky Register today (www.sanduskyregister.com) it is stated that VertiGo cost 2.5 million to build.

This upsets me a lot. I never got to ride it because I only went to the park once when it was operational, but it was down because of wind. Does anyone know if was still under warrantee? I think their air towers have a year long warrantee, but I'm not positive.

If you went to the park when it was finished, you'll have a picture in your head that not many people got to see since it wasn't finished until half way through the season.

If you got to ride it, I envy you because I won't be able to have the pleasure.

If you want VertiGo merchandise, something tells me there will be a lot to be auctioned off at Ebay.

I hope they put in a kick*****ride to replace it like a Fun-gee.

I also never got to ride it or see it run. It was always closed when I was there. I can't believe I never got to see it work. I was really looking forward to that.

On the discussion regarding SFMM..Yes they really do have a HUGE decision to make. If SFMM leaves Vertigo alone, it is a gamble because if anything happens at all, even a 1st year law student could build the case the ride should have been removed due to KNOWLEDGE about a structural failure in similair version.

Also, SFMM opens themselves up to public perception of NOT caring for their guests...Unless a TRUE final answer can be provided for why Vertigo snapped, SFMM is playing with fire.

Unlike the Chaos incident at MA, for which the exact cause has been determined, I would venture to guess, SFMM will not reopen their Vertigo any time soon. If an exact cause can be determined and fixed, then and only then will SFMM reopen. I find it hard to believe this type of attraction will survive.

I can still hear the hissing of the air and the sound it made when you go up. Or the, "wow's," from the guests as they see the people flip and the towers move in. I can still feel myself hanging in the harness as you came down.

For those of you who were there at VertiGo most of the time at Mania, we know that those nights were unforgettable! Those 32 rides on those two days just weren't enough. I wish VertiGo was still with us, but I think Cedar Fair made the right decision.

The only way I see SFMM doing anything is if S&S issues a recall calling for dismantling. Otherwise, it'll be just another monument to their history of ride problems (S:TE, Deja Vu, X, etc).

Fear the Mullet!

I was never able to ride it, but watching it from Soak City was mind boggling. It looked incredible. It was yet another ride that towers over the CP skyline. My Dad said he would've ridden it, but was not willing to chuck up the amount of money it cost. Dad, if you changed your mind about the cost, sorry. It's gone.

VertiGo Rides - 82 Farewell my good friend..

Must be tough for you Rob. I remember the excellent behind-the-scenes you did last season. It looked fun, but I made my last trip of the season when they started to build it.

I don't know what I would do CP announce they would announce the dismantling of Magnum. Dan would probably take it worse than me, heh
