Vertigo being Dismantled

Puts the pressure on SFMM eh..Makes them look like they don't care about their public in a way unless they address this.

Gonne be interesting to see what THEY do now....

Fear the Mullet!

Don't know theirs was still closed also So Maybe they are taking it down also.... Because Their seems to be some sort of problem ... Six Flags Has Height Restrictions on The Six Flags Side and a No Ride Polcey on the Other side

hey I wonna talk to S & S and buy the vertigo from Knotts from them

lol

I don't see any pressure being put on SFMM. The'll either opens theirs, or remove it. What is there to address? They either will concur with Cedar Fair and not take any chances, or they'll come to their own conclusion. I'd personally kinda like to see at least one of these ride hang around.

That's a very good point Jeffrey that I was thinking about. With two of the three rides being taken down that leaves SFMM's PR people with a pretty big job on there hands. I think had Knott's not been in the L.A. this might not be as big an issue but obviously people out there will know because of Knotts.

Honestly...no surprise here.

What was the price for CP to build Vertigo? I never saw the figure so maybe it was leased.

Someone hold me....

Please....

I thought that for a while also, but Red Garter Rob (who would know as much as anyone about Vertigo) said that CP owned Vertigo.

This is really sad news. At least I got to ride VertiGo 4 times and got a now-keepsake t-shirt. I will really miss it though, at the end of the season it was actually my favorite ride in the whole park!

It's a good point that this shows how dedicated to safety CP is. And the SFMM question is a good one as well... but most of the GP probably doesn't even know that thrillshot rides existed at CP and Knott's anyways, so it's unlikely that they will know that the CF thrillshots were removed and for a reason.

Over 1 Million....

And VERY mad I never bought a T-Shirt... of all the ones I have.. I'd value that more than my Employee Big Bash 1996 Banshee shirt..

Don't agree Rob#3..SFMM has a big decision to make any way you look at it..If they don't address it in some way whether they keep it with explainations or tear it down, the coaster republic is watching to a point...

Noooo! VertiGo was an amazing ride, probably my second favorite on the peninsula. I can't say I blame them for removing it though. Who knows, maybe it will be redesigned and we will see a bigger and better VertiGo in the future.

"Mean Streak would be better if they replaced the square wheels with round ones."

Anytime you have a ride with a potential design flaw, it's going to be a big decision whether to re-open it or remove it. But will SF feel pressured into removing theirs because CF did? Doubtful. The'll make their own decision, and then I'm sure they'll put out a press release as to their decision.

OK, now I am mad. I had the opportunity to ride it when I went in September, but my friend that I went with didn't want to ride it, it being his first time to CP, (believe me, I asked) so I didn't ride it. Since I go to CP several times each year, I figured I could just wait unill 2002. But now my opportunity has passed.

I can't blame CP for keeping their safety record, but I'm still mad that I didn't get to ride it.

Could it be possible that S&S is back at the labs perfecting this ride with a more sound steel and putting it through more intense stress tests so that it can return to where it belongs? No doubt it was a very popular ride, and if S&S eats the price, or even a portion of it, would it be out of the question to see the ride back again? VertiGo^2?

I hope they're redesigning it. I really want to go on it!

I still contend that the GP isn't likely to "forgive and forget" nearly as quickly as the enthusiast community. For that reason alone, I would be stunned to see CP bring back Vertigo or anything remotely resembling it for quite some time.
