Vertical Construction Has Begun!

To let you all know, my friend is partnered with the main construction site manager. He knows the schedule, what lights are going to be incorporated in the keyholes and the main ride structure, and all the station info. To answer one of the questions: the keyholes will have spot lights shown on them from each side that will possibly change colors like millennium force. They also proposed the option of just having plain white lights shown on them.

Does your friend know what the lights will be like on the trains? Or on the actual ride structure (not the keyholes) but like the supports and lift hill? If you know of any other cool info about the ride or its asthetic designs, please share. It's interesting to hear about all this stuff.

Also, I was surprised to see how much progress was made today. The track is almost back over the main gate again. Construction is flying along.

Progress seems to go a lot faster when the track is lower to the ground.

I believe he already shared the kind of lighting on the lift hill and entrance plaza.

The lift hill will have just plain white lighting shinning on the supports like dragster. It should look very nice, especially on the beach. The trains will have lighting on each car on the outer most part of the "wing".

I'm sure the lift hill will have similar lighting to Raptor and Mantis, lights along the catwalk railing to the top.

Yes, along with the spot lights on the lift structure

What's the station and entrance plaza going to be like?

There has only been concept art for the main park entrance. I'm sure we will be seeing some art for the ride plaza eventually though. If not, it will be a nice surprise on opening day.

The park is going to release artwork in the spring. I'm sure you'll see some photos of the progress sooner though. I don't know what it is yet, but they said they have something very large coming in to showcase the entrance of the ride.

I just found out earlier that they will be starting the second flyover today if all goes according to plan. They are now ahead of schedule. The origional schedule says that today they were going to finish the dive loop. So they are about 2 days ahead.

A surprise? That's blasphemous! I thought they were REQUIRED to tell us or show us everything........

Nick

In the overhead sattelite view it was stated that large gates were going to be at the entrance. Is that the "surprise" maybe?

This gets me even more excited if its true! I've been hoping that they would go all out on an entrance to this ride. Something like Wild Eagle.

But hats off to the construction workers! They really have been "flying" along the track since the key holes were in place. If they keep this pace up, I don't see why they couldn't finish the track by the end of next week or be very close to finishing! That is of course, if all of the track pieces have been delivered and on site and the weather stays nice.

Caleb S, Track will be completed at the end of february. This is what todays updated schedule states. Construction is 2 days ahead of schedule. Anyone have anymore questions about construction or anything about the ride in general?

Sure, what's the food stands and eating area going to be like? And what are the chances of getting a fountain? :)

There will be no fountain unfortunately. Unless they decide to add that feature. The food stands will remain the same orientation they are at now but they will get a face lift. They are going to have a modern look to them. They are planning it so that they can blend with the towers theme (same texture/ some similar colors). They are also going to install all new lighting to light up that section of the park.

Since you seem to know everything, could you tell us what the crane operators had for lunch today? What about tomorrow?

Nick

I've been surprised with the lack of weather delays on this so far, these guys are tearing into this build. With the exception of high winds/ safety issues this thing is really moving along. Come on spring!

You boneheads need to learn how to roll up the extension cord for the fluggegecheimen when you're done with it!

Kiefz, Can you tell your friend that if he has to relieve himself, that he does so in the proper facilities and not in front of the webcam. :)

Haha I only get updates. Good question though.
