Update: July 25

It's listed as being LSM, but I could have sworn those were LIMs. Guess we'll find out soon enough, eh?

Hmm...LIM.....

Oh and I just want to point something out about that pic of the prototype hydraulic coaster (cool BTW) exit. Look closely at the end, right where the cable guide wheels are and you'll see that there is a transition from box track to flat track. They probably used the flat track for braking (you can see the fin placements), and because it would have been in the way of the drum if it was box. You can even see it transition back to box track further down the pic.

So even though it IS a hydraulic launch coaster that has flat track on the launch, the flat track plays no part in the actual launching of the train.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you about box track being used as a convenient way to store all the parts for the brake fins, but don’t forget there's also the return cable chute and catch car brakes to think about. There's just soo many components for a hydraulic launch, that box track is the best choice.

and we can watch ALL of those components operating TTD, the hydraulic launch coaster CP has already built! ;)

BGRooDoG

but im to impatient to wait to show you this piece of track so here it is...

That track has definitely earned itself a WTF?!?

Are there any more like it on site? It doesn't make sense that there would be only one piece like it. I think I remember seeing this type of track on another Intamin somewhere...I just forget which one...

...105.956 miles of track and counting...

Adam, I dunno man, here's a pic of it on the launch:

It's possible, but I think what looks like box-track is only a small section for the return pulleys.

<applauds> Congrats, CP... you have by far handed us the biggest "WTF"... ever.

Long time reader, first time poster, I've been following all of the Project '07 construction since the beginning and finally decided to join today because I think I know what BGRooDoG's picture (http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4556) of track is: either the crest of a lift hill, or just a piece of a lift hill. In the center are the holes for where the chain and or cable will be attatched and the sides would be where the anti-rollback parts would go, correct? Not quite sure, but I think that that is a piece of a lift hill. Looking at Millennium Force's cable lift, I think this is even more possible from this photo: http://www.rcdb.com/ig594.htm?picture=11 where there seem to be the holes on the sides for where the steps and the cable lift cover can connect and the center will be where the chain or cable will be itself. Just from looking at other coasters, nothing else really makes any sence, and in my book, that's a piece of lift track, so for those out there wanting a lift, it looks like you got it ;).

Also, in regards to the increasing/ decreasing supports, I believe that that will be a brake run, simple physics makes it impossible to be launched that steep and thus people would be getting injured etc from the G forces.

Well, that's it for my first post, hope I don't get flamed ;).

EDIT: After looking at this picture: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1263, I somewhat retract my statement, but I do still believe that this could very well be for some sort of a lift, but like everyone else is saying, this is a true mystery lol.

You're right about the crest of the hill. California Screamin' has an LSM lift hill we might want to check out ;).

Found what it is, actually, it's for a launch, not a lift lol. See here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keithj/10682497/ The LSM launch parts will be attatched there to the middle of the track it looks, like on California Screamin' pictured there. I couldn't find any pictures of the lift hill of California Screamin' as it's enclosed ;). Well, we'll find out what it is for sure fairly soon anyway, August is just around the corner.

DorneyParkFan: But, a chain/cable wouldn't be 'attached after'... look here at the unassembled pieces of MF's lift: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1263

Edit: Clearly, you replied and corrected the lift comment while I was finding that picture. ;)

Gravity: Notice the edit to my post saying that that isn't what it is, I've come to the conclusion that it's either for the LSM launch or the crest on an LSM lift hill where there may need to be trim brakes etc installed due to the forces.

Yep, I edited... posting at the same time does that sometimes. ;)

Hey DorneyParkFan, you know DBCP and I pointed that out like, a page ago. ;)

Just giving you a hard time brotha.

it is extemely hard to tell with that equipment on there. They do look similar but after zooming in I still cannot tell if they are the same. I wish we had a picture of that piece of track from construction of screamin'.

e x i t english's avatar

Yeah, I know. Good luck finding that, though.

I searched for it the other day to no avail.

Even if we DID have a picture of that track, it would probably look different seeing as it was built 5 years ago and Intamin changes styles for better performance practically with every coaster they build. Also, the piece must serve a purpose to this coaster and not California Screamin', which probably isn't launched nearly as fast and powerfully as Project '07 will be launched.

Oh, and in responce to exit, I have read every page in this thread (yes, I admit it, at least I do unlike most other people who just join and post aimlessly), I saw what you were saying and was offering another opinion as well as some more support for what you were saying.

Wow, roflmao, I wonder if many of the park goers even know what "wtf" is, many adults are not up on the "lingo" and thus we'll be hearing many little kids explaining to their parents on the train what it means and then probably hearing kids get scolded or something.

Hopefully someone else will hear this for me as I've never been to Cedar Point and won't be coming until September for my first trip (I tried to come at 4th of July time, but only got out to Geauga Lake and then had to come home due to an emergency). From what I've read on this site about Cedar Point and from what I've heard, I hope that my three years of waiting to come are truly as great as everyone is saying. Well, at least there's Dorney Park for me tomorrow. ;)
