Update: July 23 and July 22

Hey guys, I'm new to the site, although I've been checking it out frequently. I got a few things to say, maybe add to the discussion.

My first speculation is that, from what I've seen, it's going to stay pretty close to the ground. There are some taller supports in the staging area, but seeing as there isn't too much room out there and most of the supports that have been placed are short, that is my current conclusion. I also see that there are a lot of supports running side by side, so I think it'll end up like Rita with the track running in line with itself.

Secondly, I think there will be some sort of terrain work or theming done to this ride to make it different. The reason is that they started construction for this ride so early. If it was going to be the same basic ride as Rita at Alton Towers, I doubt they would have started so soon. I think the theming is what they are going to spend most of the winter constructing and what will hopefully take this ride to the next level.

I don't quite know what to think of the launch/brake run. There are two more rows of footers there so I have no idea. My guess is that the lift/launch is going to run parallel to the brake run which is what we're looking at there.

That's my two cents, I know some of it has been said but I hope maybe I gave some people some more ideas about the ride. Speculation is half the fun! ~Kevin

sauceymcrib, I said that about 1 month ago and no one agreed with me!!! I am right there with ya!!! I hope it isn't like Rita though. It doesnt seem like a very exciting ride.

Got to agree with you on that one too. Rita looks boring and I am raelly hoping I am wrong, because something about having the entire ride close to the ground is disappointing to me.

I have to disagree with you McRib. The lines of footings I am seeing indicate the low banked curves with taller curves up in the air. Like the curve by the MS midway. The low curve supports are in. And, if you look at the footings that are left, that would indicate taller supports to me.

I HIGHLY doubt there will be any theming besides what's on TTD. There will be no mountain or enclosure (unless its a tunnel). If there was going to be a mountain like Everest (but on a much smaller scale) they would've built the mountain framework at the same time as the ride - meaning we would see more than just footings and supports going up now.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain they began this project so far in advance because they could. They didn't have to interrupt guest areas, they didn't have to work in the frigid winter months, and the parts were available. So, why not? I'm sure they're saving a LOT of money by building it in the summer instead of the winter.

Whether it means anything or not, when I was at the park today I noticed that those supports in a row behind Frontier Inn, the ones that are very small and then gradually get bigger towards the lake, well they've added a few suppors going towards the Palace Theatre on the other end, and they seem to go up. It looks like there will just be a short length there where it will be flat.

That seems a bit odd to me...Man, this thing isn't becoming any easier to figure out, is it?

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

This question may have already been answered, but is there any box track on site?

I don't think we could have a ride like Rita or even Goliath or S:RoS without box track.

Based on just having triangular track, it looks like an aquatrax. (As much as I don't want it to be)

Well I think it is safe to say it's a red and tan colored Intamin that is mostly close to the ground.

You obviously haven't been reading up on the common sense, so I'll say it again.

You can't tell what kind of coaster it is going to be based on the type of track. Intamin (Intaride) uses different types of track for everything, depending on what need arises. There is NO set pattern for certain rides having certain types of track.

If you tell me that launches require box-track, I will show you otherwise.

No, I've actually been following construction pretty closely.

Can you show me a launched ride that doesn't use box-track?

Here I did it for you: http://rcdb.com/installationresult.htm?column=1,10,3,4,5&order=1,2&model=187

The only one I could find that didn't have box-track was Rita.

Let me save you some work exit...

I hadn't seen unbox tracked launch either until exit pointed these out...

Sure.

And here's the real kicker. The first Intamin hydraulic launch was made out of flat track.

Am I insane or did my links just dissappear?

Yeah, they're not there. It's cool, though - I'm on it.

I wish I could find better pictures of other rides, but those should suffice.

Thanks exit, I appreciate it when people can actually support their point.

I just have a hunch that this isn't going to be very big and will probably disappoint a lot of people.

I, for one, will not be disappointed, it would be nice for Cedar Point to get a mid-level roller coaster that the whole family can ride together.

Yeah, you're probably right. A lot of people are going to be dissappointed. In fact, I can't ever remember a time when Cedar Point actually built a ride that didn't dissappoint. I mean, just look at Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, MaXair, Skyhawk, Dragster, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, Gemini, Mean Streak, Blue Streak, Power Tower...

When will Cedar Point actually start to build rides that don't dissappoint?

Owner, Gould Photography.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that they named a roller coaster Rita? LOL

"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"

You might be.

I would assume that this coaster will at least hit the 150 foot mark.

Yeah, me too, CP4eva.

I still think it'll be between 200 and 300 ft. I'm hoping for inversions too! TTBOMK (to the best of my knowledge), I've never been on an intamin inversion before. If there anywhere near as smooth as the rest of their rides, I'm gonna love it :)

I almost wonder if these pieces wont show up After the announcement is made in order to keep it a secret.

Don't wonder anymore. At least not about that.
