Awesome midway vision pictures!

Boy, that small straight slope up sure does look perfect for a ROLLER COASTER ACCELERATOR aka a LAUNCH, doesn't it? ;)

hehehe :)

Mine care coming soon, don't worry Ben.

One thing I've noticed is that's a little steep, so it could possibly be a brake run that happens to be similar to XCelerator's.

bholcomb's avatar

Doesn't Volcano launch steeper than that? Who says it has to be hydraulic?

e x i t english's avatar

Well, I never said it was Hydraulic at all. :)

Volcano's launches are both flat, but the 2nd one has LIMs in places going up the vertical spike to boost it/keep its speed going up, so I guess you could call that a vertical launch.

The Midway Vision pictures are excellent! Good work guys!

Love it or Lump it.

Pardon my stupidity if this is obvious, but what is that piece in the picture? It looks like track can run on two sides?

Owner, Gould Photography.

It does look that way, but the would mean the track would have a piece that puts you totally on your side for a straight piece of track. That wouldn't be very comfortable. I'm thinkin there is something strange about these supports. They'll most likely be connected to other supports, so that the track doesn't go directly on these supports.

They've got to be the smallest supports I've ever seen:

Oh, and I loved the midway vision of the staging area!

Hey Walt, you're almost to 4000 post! But look out, I'm right behind you! ;)

My guess would be those connect to other supports.

My guess would be those connect to other supports.

I kind of doubt that they would make a support that short, just so they could connect it to another one. They'd be a lot more likely to take the length of the final support, and cut it in half, giving two supports that are about equal in length, or just adding on that foot or so to the other support. Adding on an additional support to a support that short just doesn't seem likely.

Hey DBCP, you should send some of your pictures to walt. Some of the shots you have of the project area are really nice.

I thought you guys might like that piece. I found it pretty interesting too.

Also, I used the panoramic assist this time and still had the same results with varing brightness. It wasn't as bad as last time, but these shots were taken at midday vs. sundown. Perhaps my camera just isn't sophisticated enough. Or maybe I need to learn how to use some of the other functions in photoshop.

Glad you guys like the pictures.

Yeah, that piece is interesting to say the least, but I'm sure once it's up and connected we'll all go "Ohhh, now I get it."

Oh and thanks for the updates guys, it's really cool for us people who can't get to the park as often. I can't wait for my trip next month :) *** Edited 7/24/2006 9:33:42 PM UTC by airee85***

Yeah. :)

BTW, I havn't been following the Project 2007 thread lately, so sorry if this has been said already.

While taking the pictures in the staging area, I saw quite a bit of the flat track, or track with no spine. How ever you care to classify it. I'm assuming that it would be for brake run and possibly approach track to a lift hill or launch area.

This "vertical s-bend" piece (as I like to call it):

http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4406

has intrigued me since it arrived. I originally figured it would be like a 'final hop' into the brake run... but, now I'm not so sure.

I do believe that there will be a lift hill based on what I saw yesterday July 23 at the park. Look at the orientation for the large footers here:

http://www.pointbuzz.com/midwayvision/project2007mv34.jpg

They get further and further apart from each other as they get further away from the WWL station area.

Even if its not for a lift, I do believe that is where the highest point of the ride will be. And it will be done with A-Frame supports.

Also, I think that the strait vertical supports that are running down between the large footers are for the brake-run which will run under cross supports for the lift hill which would make for some nice "head chopping" effects.

Yep, that's the consensus regarding the spineless track, which (I think) has been commonly referred to as "2-rail" track around here.

Brandon

mk522, I also found that piece interesting but I doubt it will have two tracks attatched to it. I agree with Bodes. It will most likely be attatched to other supports, although this seems like an odd configuration. Very interesting...

Gravity, I also found that "vertical S-bend" to be very interesting. I agree that it looks like a hop into the brake run.
