I've always believed that Mantis has the potential to be a great ride, but the exact variable to make the equation work was always daunting... Now I know the answer. To make an analogy, it was common knowledge in the gaming community that the the Nintendo 64 would have been better served with a CD-ROM drive as it was limited by its format: the solid state memory cartridge, which prevented richer textures and CGI movies seen on the Playstation from being used in games on the N64.
In the same regard, I believe the Mantis is also limited by its format. The format we are speaking of here is standing up. If riders are uncomfortable from the get-go, they will never truly enjoy a ride.
Also, we know that most of the stacking problem eminates from the riders' inability to situate themselves correctly during the load interval. Retrofitting Mantis for sit-down operation seems like the ultimate solution, as I don't honestly believe adding an unloading platform is feasible. B&Ms are engineered to the same spec for the most part, so it doesn't appear it would take much reworking. (Maybe Mr. Althoff could help us out with any specific problems here.)
In conclusion, you might be losing a ride genre at the Point, but you'll be gaining much needed rideability which could quite possibly change Mantis from "the ride that never quite caught on" to a ride that made good of a second lease on life.
Opinions?

It wasn't a fun ride a all. It just wasn't exciting at all. It felt like there were no forces. Then when I rode it again the same day, I stood up and I loved it. To me, if they changed it to a sitdown, there would be even more complaining then there is now.
But talking about the possibility of making it a floorless, thy wouldn't really have to change the loading station, just add an unloading station with a floor that splits and drops out...just a thought, not that I want it to happen, nor think it will.
