Two Trains on Mantis

Many TR'S I have read for this season state only a two train operation is being used on Mantis.

Any reason for this? Is it still running three most of the time?

I have ben to the Point 3 times this year and ever time I was there they were only running 2 trains. It may have to do with the heavy stacking they had in past years.

There is only one transfer track now. It has the third train sitting on it.

I've been 7 times so far and the third train has been on the transfer each and every time.
Is there a reason for this?
I don't know the reason, but man I sure hope they fix it. The line was longer than MF's when I was there last. I really regret waiting that long.

At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs.
Stacking? It pointless to have 2 trains sitting on the brake run. That's why they need an unload platform! I seldom ride the thing. I will only go in if the wait is less than 15 minutes.

It IS funny that the Mantis line has been as long as the Force line as of late!

maybe future changes coming???

I talked to Mantis crew members today and they said that operations has looked at the ride and decided that it is more efficient to run two trains well than it is to run three trains and have the ride constantly stacking. They blame all of the trouble they have getting people into the restraints. They test and run all three trains every day but they park one before the ride opens.
This is random, but "eggs" signature sent me into fits of pleasure...sigh, I do love my MF promo video...

I would still think the third train would have more people, therefore having more people onboard the ride, rather than in line.

Is this going to go on all season?
I agree Brett!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
Yes, there would be more people onboard the ride, which would decrease the line length by about 20 people. That's not much. I think the problems caused by stacking offset the possible increased capacity of 3 trains.

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
Is it just me, or does it seem like there are a lot of empty seats on Mantis when trains go by?
I think the ride ops should try to ask for single riders, a pair of two, etc., to help fill up the trains. You don't really see as many empty seats on Raptor as you do on Mantis. I think that is because you can easily get to an open seat on Raptor, while on Mantis you have to walk through the people standing up if they aren't standing all the way to the right of the train. This will contribute to longer lines. I guess guests not understanding to stand up completely (whoa, it's a standup coaster, let's sit down so the ride ops have to release my seat and let me actually stand up) and the seatbelts being in a place where you can't see to latch them make the trains stack so much. So, I guessing stacking barely occurred from 96-98 from lack of seatbelts, and not so much from guests not standing up. It's kind of sad to see this not run on 3 trains, but with all the stacking I guess it isn't worth it. Any idea if they are going to try 3 trains when it gets very busy in the summer? I thought yesterday (June 12th) was pretty busy, and was shocked not to see 3 trains. Maybe they will try 3 trains once the crew gets really good at sending trains out faster. I hope so.

I was a op on mantis last year....If the ride has a good crew they will not stack any trains...you have to work with the guests over the pa...i can remember when we would be dispatching trains when a train would be entering the first loop...that is the kind of interval you want to be running/
The reason for a two train is that the new crew is trying to get their interval down on the two train. Later in the year they will try three trains to try to get that interval down.

It seems to me, the line moved faster with 3 trains than with 2 no matter what problems they had. A 2 train run last year cost me a final ride on MF.
Couple questions...how much do those trains cost and don't you just love seeing one sitting all the time?
Seemed to me that the line moved faster with 3 trains too. The hourly stats proved it too. Promise the crew a party if they get 1200/hour and i guarantee they'll get it.

First of all Mantis will not be runnind three trains this summer. This is a thing that the higher ups are trying. We have no control over it. We want to run three trains, but they won't let us. It has nothing to do with the crew it self. We can hit our interval fine with no problem.
