anyways...im prolly one of the youngest people on this forum , but people are makin me feel old...
Okay, so how about that TTD day to day status?????
So i went to CP on both Friday and Sunday (today) and both days I DID NOT get to ride Dragster. On Friday, a massive downpour erupted before we got to ride TTD (or MF for that matter) and my group left before it cleared up. On Sunday, we entered the line and made it all the way to the ramp before the station and then it closed. So we waited about a half-hour and then my friends decided to leave. I kept telling them "it will open in 10 minutes, guarenteed," but they didn't listen and so I was forced to leave the line with them. Of course, 10 minutes later, it was back up and running and I will never let my friends live it down. We had to leave an hour later so we could not make it back to the ride. I instead had to settle for a second ride on MF (which really isn't too bad i guess ;) ).
However, the thing is, on both friday and sunday, the ride was very inconsistent. It would break down for long periods of time every so often and I haven't seen it that bad since 2003. I was told that it was like that on Saturday too. Whats going on??? Is it the heat?? When I went late June it was running near perfectly.
It could very well be the heat, but the A/C system in the hydraulic room is susposed to be huge, but I can't see that being an issue.
We are nearing the halfway point in the season and TTD has shown it has what it takes to run more reliable than it has previous seasons, but it is still far from perfect, I'll say 60-65% there.
Adam (TTD120mph) and I are still being very positive about the ride's running status this year and we've yet to see a period of downtime last more than day. knock on wood
The rest of this month, August, September, and October are the ultimate test for TTD. I'm predicting it will run like a champ, but only time will tell.
Finally, I'm taking this time to give a BIG THANKS to CP's maintenance staff and the TTD crew for making the ride's forth season the best so far!!
My glass always half full! :)
Do you have anything to add Adam? *** Edited 7/17/2006 2:23:59 AM UTC by Gomez***

I agree with you on everything Craig.
My answer to the higher amount of downtime is indeed the heat. It affects the ride in more aspects than just the hydraulics.
I have more confidence in Dragster than I can shake a stick at. Its performance so far has been great (not 100% perfect by still great).
And all I can say about the crew is that they sure have outdone themselves. The Millennium crew has been outstanding this year with their loading times (as has Dragsters), but the Dragster crew has been the most fun and most upbeat.
::holds out a jug:: Here’s to the Dragster crew for their great performance and to the continuation of a great season!

I don't think the bulk of the downtime this past weekend can be blamed on TTD, it was due to the weather. I was there on Friday from about 5pm til close. It was running great when I got into the park, so I hopped right in line. As we neared the station, the rain moved in. People started leaving in droves, and luckily I made it into the station before it really started pouring.
As soon as that downpour had stopped, they got the ride running as quickly as they could. Unfortunately only 4 or 5 trains got launched before they had to shut it down again due to incoming weather. Since I was in the station, I decided to wait it out (better than running through the park in the pouring rain).
After this second downpour (around 8pm), it started again. The rest of the evening it ran great, and no more rain. I was really hoping for another rollback, as I was in the first train launched after the rain, but it didn't happen.
It was running great on Sat. morning. It even opened early (before 10am).
Not sure about Sunday, but I can imagine the extreme heat had something to do with any downtime it experienced.

So, let me get this straight... you waited for 3 hours to ride TTD one time?
Well, considering that almost 2 of those hours it was was raining, and nothing else was open either, it wasn't a bad decision. I was under the shelter of the station, while those running through the park were totally soaked. The rain cooled things off, and cleared out the crowds. In the remaining 3 hours that the park was open, I managed to get a ride on MF, both sides of PT, one on WT, one on Maggie, and two on TTD. Not bad for 3 hours.
Not when it was raining as hard as it was. And I was staying dry, so I decided to stay put. It's not like this was my only trip to CP for the year, so there wasn't anything in the park that I just HAD to do.
Just because you wouldn't wait for TTD doesn't mean others don't mind.
So, when it rains they close all of the shops, arcades, eateries and so forth?
And living close enough to go often gives you even more of an incentive to see the less-obvious attractions. Its those that live far away that are making the most of their time by hitting the bigger attractions first.
Brandon
I prefer to duck into an arcade during a rain shower. That is if I'm not still riding.

I do take time to see the "less-obvious" attractions. And yes, the shops, arcades, eateries were all open, but as I said, it was POURING rain, and I was under shelter, so I decided not to go out in the rain. That's really the only reason I waited. If it had been sunny, and the ride was down, I wouldn't have waited.
