Wow....

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Kind of a 1 foot/mph winner isnt it? Well it was expected to be like this. could be worse, could be 121 421 lol. Alright im done for the night.

I figured about 450' after I found out it really was a record breaker. Thought it would go about 140mph though instead of the 128mph.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

IT IS OFFICAL, It was just on FOX 8 Cleveland @ 5:39 AM Darn, "Move over Top Thrill Dragster for a new coaster, set to open next spring, the Kingda Ka Launches riders from 0-128 MPH in just 3.5 seconds & climbs 456 feet into the air" Directly from the news room...

Did anyone else see this, it should also be on Fox 8 news @ 6:00, *** Edited 9/29/2004 9:42:25 AM UTC by Joe@cp04***

Just to point out some flaws in this rumor. TTD has trouble making it over 420 ft. with 122 mph. What makes you think 128 will make it over 456 ft.? To add onto that 129 ft. hill at the end. MF has a hill similar to that and it flys over it at 93 mph, are they really going to send you over that hill at 128 mph? That's suicide!

Before the back and forth goes any further, understand that this isn't a rumor.

I don't think we needed a new thread for this (especially WITH ALL CAPITAL LETTERS !!!11!!! w00t! in the title) given we already had a thread, but since it's already on page 2, we'll leave it for now. I can see it getting out of hand, so consider this a friendly warning.

The track for this coaster looks alot longer than TTDs. And from the look of these renderings, we are going to have Over The Sholder Restraints.

Really historic....Still trying to figure out how they are doing this with like 400 feet less track, but I guess its possible. I wonder how long before they actually get it running, not to mention when TTD was built, they had a good chunk of the tower going by now. I've seen some of the construction reports for this and they only recently got footers done, so it should be an interesting build from here on out. Whoever it was that said the difference between 456 and 420 is negligible is right, you really won't notice the difference, so the only difference now is that TTD decided to include brakes instead of an airtime hill.

Yeah it looks cool. It has an extra element in that hill that I wish TTD would have. If you think about it though, you won't get too much out of the hill since it isn't all that tall and the brake run comes shortly afterwards. With the teaser poster I was expecting a little more in terms of height and speed. 36 feet taller, and heck - you can argue radar calibration all you want - last year I have seen TTD hit 127mph readings many times. Oh well, good for Six Flags. Let's see if they can keep the bugs out of the system and maintain ride uptime. I probably won't get a chance to ride it anyway and TTD is just fine by me. I get more enjoyment out of MF anyway.

JuggaLotus, TTD is 2,800 feet long, while Kingda Ka is 3,118 feet.

The original stats for KK was 2400, in fact thats what they reported with the city planning department. Maybe I missed it somewhere along this thread but they must have changed the length.

This sucks now I have to go all the way out there to ride the worlds tallest and fastest coaster. Oh well Cedar Point will just have to build something bigger and faster. If they want there stuff back. *** Edited 9/29/2004 12:57:49 PM UTC by Ary***

Goodbye 2005 season!!!!

Ary, Six flags Great Adventure in Jackson NJ

John (jugga) They told the planning board 2,480, and that is what WE believed, but they obviously lied! lol!

I see that now. What I'm interested in is whether the planning board had the truth and published the false report to help SF, or if they were lied to and are now pretty pxssed about it.
I'm glad to see someone decided to step up and try to challenge CP in the coaster wars. It seems to have been mostly the Point the last few years setting the records so that they can break them themselves. I think a good competition like this will be good for the industry.

Thxs. you Sfcoasterguy..

Goodbye 2005 season!!!!

I don't think people are going to take the speed on this ride. I hered people saying that they can hardly take the speed on TTD. Also if they have a hard time getting it over the top they'll have to crank it up to mabe over 130 mph, and that will be hard to take.
