Sure, being a sweep wasn't the best job at the park, but it was a job, and the memories and the friends, won't fade away. I worked with a wonderful team, from Jenn, to Mike G., to the Zone 4 Crew.
Just remember neo, your job as a sweep is one of the most important jobs at CP or any amusement park for that matter. The first thing guests notice is whether a midway is spotless or riddled with trash. You guys are responsible for keeping it clean.
It may be boring job at times but it makes an impression on the park. To all the sweeps out there, keep up the good work.

Some people make a big deal about when they leave a site or stop posting. Honestly, we could care less about your leaving. What do you want us to say? "Oh no, don't go, please stay."
Anybody want to take any bets that he will reply to this thread again? This might be fun....

He's expressing his disapproval of the forums in that post by saying he's leaving. That is his point.
I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if you decided to leave.

BTW neo, being a sweep would actually be my preffered job in a park. It gives the most opportunity to influence a guest's day. When I workd at Sears, my favorite thing to do was give directions to the bathrooms (I got asked that question at least 10 times a day). Being on the "front lines" is infinitely cool. Kudos to you!

But why?
Some people have a sense of humor and are able to laugh at other people and themselves as well. I thought Jeff's apostrophe post was pretty danged funny.
I've said much worse about Jeremy's use of the English language and he sure wasn't all like That's enough of this I'm leaving all yo mommas he was all like ha ha that's funny. Isn't that like how it went, Hostyl?

how many times did they have to tell you what to do, we have your life in our hands and if you don't pay attention and mess up its our heads because you didnt' listen
Wow... I didn't know that of all rides the only ride where I entrusted my safety and life to the crew was the Ripcord crew.
How many times did they need to tell me what to do? Once. How many times did they say it anyway? As fast and as loud as they could.
Was it busy? What does it matter? If it's busy do you guys get mean? But no, it wasn't busy.
I treated the crew with respect, just as I treat all people I make face to face contact with. Oh, they hadn't had a day off? Lame excuse. What do you call those days the park isn't open? You know, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday?
As for the crew having a bad day, yet holding my life in their hands: If my doctor is performing open heart surgery on me and he's having a bad day my life is in his hands, right? I don't see any difference. If my doctor can be having a bad day and still give me a satisfactory surgery, (which requires years upon years of training) why can't a group of mostly college students hook me up to two steel cables and drop me 152 feet in a safe and satisfactory manner?
I realize that the folks who work at Cedar Point aren't drones, aren't robots and have feelings, etc and some of them are my friends, so I know that they are real people. (That's a disclamer so that nobody tries to flame me about that)
But anyway, if anyone is over by Ripcord any time the rest of the season, find that young lady Danielle (her nametag said she's from Elyria I think) and tell her what a good job she's doing and that people are talking about her on the internet! :)

This is my first time writing on CP place. I came here after it was brought to my attention that I was being slammed on the internet. I must say I was kinda surprised but most of all I was sick. Sick that a bunch of people who have never worked in park op could sit here and judge us on one bad experience. Which, most likely, was an experience made up in his head because his dumb ass wasn't listening!
I would like to thank Adam for putting a level headed opinion on the matter. Working at Cedar Point for too long sucks. Not because you get bored with your job, but because you really start to see how understaffed and unappreciated you really are as a ride op crew member. RipCord , also has it's own set of downfalls. People that come to RipCord haven't listened to any instructions all day...why do they have to now? So we are stuck repeating ourselves 4 or five times for every speil. I'm NOT joking. Not to mention the fact that being out on the flight line for an hour involves more work than any coaster crew member would have to do for a day.
Granted we aren't as busy as most rides and we have a lot of downtime. But I have worked my ASS off this summer, well mostly now in the fall with us having 6 crew members! I will be damned if I let some whiney ass tell me or my crew NOW that we were rude. You might as well have ran up to Dick Kinzel, started crying and said "Dickie, Dickie, they were so mean to me." If you really cared that much Darling, then why didn't you say something to us then. If you really thought we needed an attitude adjustment...why didn't you just say..."hey guys, don't be so rude." Maybe we didn't even realize the severity of it. Honestly, people have said that before and we have solved the problem.
We bark orders because that is the only way people like you will pay any attention to us. Granted, we should take more time and be courteous, but when you have to get 4-5 flights done in 15 minutes...courtesy is the last thing on your mind. I propose that after your ticket is purchased, right before you get suited up, there is a video to watch, something short and to the point. That way people come in with a previous knowledge and we don't have to repeat ourselves 5000 times. Ya know?
Bottom Line: I'm really sorry that it ruined your skycoaster experience. RipCord is my favorite ride in the park and I would be upset too. But just pull your stubborn head out of the ground and realize that we are ALL HUMAN. And if it happens again, on any ride!! Just tell the people there. It's nice to them, to yourself and to future customers! Seriously...I'm not kidding.
