The Mysterious, possible footers

yes,CP needs more loops.
I am intereasted in seeing how many people there are to run the witches'wheel this summer. If there is anyone working this ride this summer, would they say it in their discussion. Thanks

Arrow? Not a chance. That one I can 100% rule out.

Jeff, what is your basis for saying that it can't be an Arrow. While I believe you, because you know much more than little pathetic me. Im just curious where you get that info from. I want to see a 400' statue of snoopy...lol....two footers for his legs, one in the back for his tail!

That's one that you'll just have to take on faith that I know people qualified enough to give a certain answer.

As to the whole S&S theories... I'd say we shouldn't be looking as much towards how Hypersonic XLC is holding up and performing, but more at how Dodonpa is holding up and performing. I for one havn't heard much about Dodonpa since its opening...

Who knows what got fixed and tweaked between the prototype, and the first major installation.

A B&M flyer (or sitdown) would be nice there

Then again maybe its a statue dedicated to Magnum Dan ;)

I think it'll be somthing to transport people from off the island and onto the island and Vise versa ;-)

Michael Darling, I never said that the people I spoke to were seasonal kids from the park. They are people who have worked there for years, not ride ops or food stand workers either.

I most definitely am not claiming to be "in the know" or even being remotely close. Im just adding to this interesting thread.

People, people, get a clue! Whatever it is, its going in THIS YEAR, which in all probability rules out a coaster. Besides, they JUST FINISHED WT.

I have a feeling its nothing that anyone should be really excited about, posssibly a flat ride or 3D attraction or something....

I disagree.I don't think that this "project"
will be finished by the end of the season. There are many possibilities of what will be put in "Area 51" but not for this year. I think that there will be something big for 2003. Maybe they're getting everything in order and an early start for a project that was designed for 2003 when MF was to be built in 2000. Remember CP is a premier park and they break records with every new coaster that is built, this shouldn't surprise anyone if one is to be built. I know it wouldn't surprise me.

Coaster on island in 2003?
It's not for this year.

CP wouldn't have spent the money on bushes to line the outside of the fence if it wasn't meant to be there for the entire season. Why spend money on very nice landscaping for a one or two month period of time. That just doesn't make sense to me.

Although that does sound like something Disney would do.

Folks who are saying this year-

I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you, just bringing up the fact that there's landscaping around that area that seems to say "I'm here for a while." When was the last time we knew CP to do something like that when unnecessary?

And I don't think this is a make up ride for Vertigo from S&S. The Dodgems were scheduled to be removed before Vertigo fell. The reason? CP had already planned whatever is going into Area 51 and Dodgem 1 was in the way. Cedar Fair could surely afford some Dodgem cars for Michigan's Adventure, they just used the CP Dodgem cars because they were available, and it made more sense than scrapping them.

If this does turn out to be a launched coaster, my money is on a Xcelerator style coaster from Intamin. The S&S launched coaster has had too many problems for CP to buy one IMHO. Intamin has proven hardware and a much more elegant ride system.

2 words....Maintnence Force...Not that Intamin is a bad company...they are puttin out great coasters...but i dont think we should pick on Stan and S&S...It wasnt until Thrust Air and Vertigo that we had any reason to complain...

You can always move landscaping around. That area of the park is in a well travelled and easily observed spot. If they make it an eyesore, everyone will notice it. Most people wouldnt take a second look at it, but GTTP-ers and other fans definitely would notice it.
I think Intamin designs awsome coasters, but here what they need to do: they need to redesign their whole computer system, so it can run like B & M's. Although, I don't know about S:ROS @ SFDL but how many problems has it had, maybe it was just MF cause of all the new technologies, but look for an Intamin launched, Xcelerator style.

I don’t mean to be belligerent, but “semi-permanent” landscaping has NOTHING to do with this. The landscaping costs are completely insignificant compared to the cost of whatever is going in that area (assumption: ride of some type).

We’re talking thousands of dollars vs. many millions of dollars for a ride – if that’s even what it is.
