The Mysterious, possible footers

Personally, I think that anyone who thinks it is 400+ footer is a loon. If Cedar Point builds it, you can bet it will be finished the folowing season opening day. Unless they have a multi-phases expansion/renovation or something like that.

I want to drive the Zamboni!

I heard someone saying something about a new wooden coaster. We'll see. I saw some more machines moving dirt on Millenium Isle.

Didn't you hear? They are putting more sand around Millennium Force because it is sinking ;)

I think it was mentioned in here that there were 3 footers. Today while riding Witch's Wheel several times, I could clearly see that there were only 2 footers. They were both along the side of the fence that faces the Witch's Wheel area. The rest of that land is just dirt and a coupple of piles of stuff covered in tarps. I'm still thinking along the lines of a new sky ride.

VertiGo: VertiGone but not forgotten.

Not to yell, but I have too.....THAT'S WHAT I SAID OPENING DAY!!!!!!!!!! There is not going to be an exciting new ride. I love watching this thread though....You guys really jump to conclusions really fast. Jeff said clearly that we would be disappointed when we found out that it wouldn't be anything like we thought it would. Of course he may actually know and just enjoy this chatter. A sky ride from the Witches Wheel to Frontier Trail. I don't have inside info, but this is what makes the most sense. The footers have to be deep for the cableling system otherwise the towers would have problems supporting the immense cable that weighs 10 lbs per square foot and the 200 pound gondolas filled with heavy people. Then they will build a square building around the footers. Notice how the landscaping is rather square around the fence? It is also about the same size as the Frontier Town lift that has been vacated for years. Watch and see. I have money to spend. Anyone want to gamble? Sorry Jeff, but you could make a lot of money from us gamblers. Don't want to burst any bubbles, but they aren't going to spend a ton of money on anything "new" this year. They already dipped deep for WT and the improvements at Michigans Adventure.

I some how have a feeling that Travis has hit the nail right on the head.....

America's Rockin' Roller Coast

I too agree with Travis. This is almost exactly the same thing that I said on the first page of this thread...but with all of the excitement I think the post was overlooked.

Food for thought...

VertiGo wasn't announced until July 21st last year.

"Whose bright idea was it to get him talking about Cedar Point?!"

Interesting... I was at the Point July 18th last year and I remember seeing those towers in the back parking lot. Of course, I wasn't in-the-know with GTTP at the time, so I just forgot about them...

Travis may be correct, but how about this: A conspiracy between Cedar Point and Jeff to test out the new forum software... or not... :)

Don't bother asking anyone who works at CP, we all have our jobs on the line if we speculate about that area, we were told by Mr. Sphen himself, that we are to only say that it is an area for future development...of course, I say that the fact that there are new things in the boneyard by Frontier Trail could lead to accidental speculation too...

While on Meanstreak saw some new wood and machinery in the bone yard!
New wood is pretty sweet to hear about, but it could be for the overhaul that's scheduled for Gemini...

The machinery on the other hand...

I want to drive the Zamboni!

Just looked at the footers on the construction sight...Each footer has 12 beams, while WT'S had only 10. This must be something big and will need to support a lot of weight. I saw even more land clearance on the Isle, up to the rock tunnels for MF. I can see another Sky Ride, since CP used to have two. The Sky Ride would go over the lagoons, but it seems a bit close to MF.

I apologize for that post up there. I never clicked "reply." I never finished typing it. I guess my keyboard went haywire. This is what it was supposed to say:

Ralph Wiggum-

Yes, there are 3 footers. The third is under the tarp which has been moved since opening day.

Pezzmanguy, can you still see the new Boneyard from Mean Streak? I never tried. It's by Millennium Force now.

One thing is for sure, attendance of coaster enthusiasts will be up at the Point this summer with all this buzz...

I'm wondering which will attract more people this summer, Wicked Twister or the Grey Wall. As a joke, CP should paint "Area 51" on the outside of that wall.

I'm still guesing that this will be something very big, not a sky ride. If employees are being warned to keep their mouths shut, then this is obviously a high profile project that CP wants to keep under wraps for competative advantage. Do you see a sky ride having that type of status? I don't.

I'm not certain what the attraction will be, but it would be a nice way to give the finger to the "other park" with a taller version of S:TE ;)

"Proud to be Arrow DYNAMIC!"

It would be pointless to get a version of S:TE. It's just a one trick pony compared to WT. Pete brings up a good point with the "no speculating" by employees...that's very interesting. Why would they be so "hush hush" about a sky ride or flat ride?

Seems kind of pointless to tell employees not to speculate. Employee speculation is/was never (or at least rarely) based in fact. Trust me, your mormal ride op, sweep, foods person at CP knows nothing more than anyone here. And if they did, then they must have fogotten to tell me. :) Of course it's for future development - what piece of land isn't for future development? The fact that there is construction there though indicates that the "future" will be sooner rather than later. :)
