^^ - Just for the record, I'll say the same things to your face. We would be going in circles, but the rest of us keep hitting a brick wall when trying to explain common sense to you.

this argument is going in circles because you refuse to believe the facts i have shown you.
The facts you showed us don't prove your point. Over and over again, the articles state the the vegetarian lifestyle is likely the reason for the health benefits and not the diet.
I did not see ANYWHERE that meat was bad for you. I saw that some meats were high in saturated fats but that is only bad in excess and not in moderation.
A vegetarian that eats mostly fried foods or never gets protein is not going to be as healthy as someone who eats well balanced diet with meat.
Is anyone else as frustrated with cpfanatic2006 as I am?
No, not at all... :-D
Also, for the record, I would act the same way toward you in person as well, Alex. Especially if you act the way it comes across in your postings.
*raises hand ---- VERY VERY HIGH*
ME ME ME ME ME ME
Better watch out lladnar, even though you have only 39 posts, you are going to be one of those mean, evil veterans that properly punctuates and capitalizes their posts, and doesn't ignore Rule 1.

thats where your wrong. A vegetarian cant get away with eating all fried foods and the junk food. Thats what I said before, there diet is better because they cant get away with eating that stuff. thay have to eat the good stuff so they dont get sick. and isaid this before too, its impossible to not get enough protein if your eating the right amount of calories per day.
And as has been said countless times, if you are eating right (enough fruits and veggies, non-fried food, no junk food) it doesn't matter if your protein comes from a steak or a pile of beans.

Who is to stop them, the diet police? A vegetaian can eat anything they want, fried or junk food; one can still be a vegetrain, but not healthy. As I said, I know this because I simply don't like the taste of meat (shocking as that may seem) and I was an unhealthy vegetarain for many years. Then when I had my daughter I changed my habits. But for the first 28 years of my life, I was an accidental vegetarain.
The whole point that everyone is trying to make is that a person CAN indeed be an unhealthy vegetarian just like a person CAN be an unhealthy omnivore. Suddenly delcaring oneself a vegetarian and eschewing meat does not make one a healthy eater. Additionally all the studies that have been posted here seem to indicate that it is not truly the absence or presenence of meat that contributes to health, but rather, attention to diet, proper nutrtion and greater consumption of fruits and vegetables. If an ominvore, like e x i t english, for example, paid close attention to his diet, ate lots of plant matter and then added some lean meats, he will be every bit as healthy as a vegetarian.
Let's take this back to context. The entire thread is about Lady Jerrico's battle with weight so that she can ride the coasters this summer (you go girl!). But she has also told us she has a somewhat restricted diet of a daily salad and a can of healthy choice soup with an occasional additon of some lean baked chicken once or twice a week, IIRC. You suggested she become a vegerian becuase vegetarians are healthier- a blanket statement and one that I know from personal expereince is not always true. Based on what we know from Lady J's posts she does not eat a balanced diet out of commitment to proper nutrition, she bases her diet on what will effectively help her loose weight and what she can easily do/afford (like many of us). She does not sound, to me, like she has the intention or inspiration to do the requisite research into vegetariansim or the desire for that lifestyle. Also, there are things she knows are healthier (i.e. eating breakfast in the morning) that she doesn't do becuase they do not make her comfortable (like many of us, Lady J, don't think I'm dogging you here). Does this sound like someone then that will eat what feels like "too much" or will eat what is nessecary to meet nutritional needs regardless of whether she wants to eat it? Not to me. That is why I took issue with your post. It was too general.
You are working on the assumption that vegerians will always do what they have to to eat the required nutrition and I'm saying not always. Some people, especially young people, don't. They just abstain from meat and continue eating junk food or not enough veg or not enough protein. Meat isn't bad. Vegetarianism isn't bad. But there are no univeral truths.
All that said, how is the diet going, Lady J?
Thanks Pissy,
Your right, I choose to eat meat, I did try going to just pure veggies and fruit, but found that I lacked something that meat had in my body. I gained a few pounds over the Easter holiday (my mom fed me too well), but I'm losing a little bit of what I gained over the weekend.
I'm having a hard time finding support groups on the internet, so I post my progress here and on myspace.
As far as excersize goes, I walk fast-paced for about 20 minutes (that's all I can really do right now) 110 situps a day and 25 pushups (I can't seem to do more than that), but I noticed that I lost 3 inches off my waist since I started my diet back in January, and I am losing weight.
I have a friend who is pure veggitarian, she's skinny as a pole, but it's her choice. Most of us I think were brought up on eating meat (just my opinion) so I think it's a major lifestyle change and one that I won't be able to get accustomed to.
I've stopped drinking caffiene since the beginning of February all together and mainly just drink water and 1% milk. I drink decaf coffee on occassion, I love the fact I can drink that and not have the shaky caffiene effects.
Thanks for the support Pissy. I appreciate that :)
I'm not sure how I did this but I lost 4 pounds between yesterday and today. I ate like a horse too, so now I lost 18 pounds total since Jan. 1st. I'm walking outside every chance I get, the weather hasn't been all that bad here in Michigan in the past couple of weeks.
I couldn't believe what the scale said this morning when I weighed myself. I'm doing something right I think.
Your body needs energy to burn energy. when wrestling in high i would have to lose about 10 lbs to get to the weight class i wanted to be at. believe it or not sometimes i would have to eat more to lose more. when i wasn't eating a lot my metabolism wouldn't work nearly as fast and wasn't burning as fast. So when the it came time to be on weight i could eat a little more than i thoguht because it would jump start my metabolism into high gear, burning off what i ate and then some. that may explain why you lost the extra weight. also, if you weigh yourself at night, then do it again first thing in the morning you will notice you could weigh 1-2 lbs lighter. that also could have been a factor in you losing the 4 lbs so quickly.
Let's not forget how much weight you can pack on one day from drinking water. I drink well over a gallon a day, and my weigh difference from AM-PM can vary by as much as 6-7 lbs easily.
I'm happy for you LadyJ, the most important think is to stay positive and not get discouraged.
This is true, which is why I weigh myself in the morning, not at night. But from time to time I find myself using the bathroom more often than not when I'm drinking tons of water. (not to be gross or anything).
I also lose water by sweating when I'm working out, so I'm losing water when I drink it.
Thanks English :)

yet again you ignore that part in there where i say the fats and cholesterol and sodium from the meat is un healthy!!! I realize that vegetarians eating more fruits and veggies is one of the things that makes them healthier, but not comsuming all of the things in meat is one of the main reasons why they are healthier! I showed you link and showed you facts. thats all there is to it. you have no more argument. your making pathetic excuses.and by the way, of course no deer you have ever eaten has never lived a cruel life or died a cruel death. It wasnt raised in some giant beef factory and chicken farm! it was born and raised in the wild! im not sure what your getting at by bring a wild animal into this picture. Something being raised in the wild is not the same as 20,000 chickens being stuffed into one holding area and their beaks being cut off so they dont peck eachother to death.
Vegan is another word for starvation.

Good for you. Just be sure to have a treat once a week. I say make it a nice juicy all beef Wendys' hamburger! Make sure the fries are hot as well!
Lady J have you been watching "I can make you thin" on TLC? If you have cable you might want to check it out. Its about mindful eating and learning to listen to your body's cues to undo a lifetime of bad habits. The ideas aren't particuarly healthy, but they are helpful for someone wanting to loose weight. I have a looooong way to go there and a lifetime of very bad habits to make up for, so the show has been somewhat helpful for me.
Yes Pissy, I have cable TV, but usually watch movies, not really regular cable shows. I'll have to check that out when it comes on.
I lost another pound in 2 days. I'm eating healthy, not really snacking all that much.
A real bad habit I have is smoking, it was either quit smoking and gain more weight or lose weight and keep smoking, I chose the latter. When I get down to where I want to be (I have 47 1/2 more pounds to go) I'll quit smoking, just can't kick the habit right now.
As it is I quit taking Paxil over a year ago, I quit caffiene and I'm dieting, so I can't really do it all.
Anyway, thanks for the tip about that show, I'll check it out sometime :)
