The Intamin Diet

like i said before, my girlfriend is a VEGAN. my girl friend suffers from CELIAC DISEASE. a VEGAN does not eat any animal products including, meat, eggs, dairy products, honey. a person suffering from celiac disease CANNOT CONSUME any product containing wheat, barely or, rye. eliminate all those things from your diet and still tell me that a person needs to eat meat?? for amino acids??? please. as long as you are consuming the right amount of calories per day it is nearly impossible to lack protein (which is what amino acids are by the way, in case you didn't know). have you ever heard of someone being protein deficient? no, probably not. the fact of the matter is...most vegetarians weigh less than the average person which bring me back to my point of, if you want to lose weight, become a vegetarian. and one more thing for jeff...if your ex wife was a vegetarian...and a dietitian...isn't that saying something about being a vegetarian? either that or your saying she doesn't know what shes talking about.

First, we KNOW what a vegan is. Second, I am aware of what Celiac is, and have no clue what it has to do with not eating meat. Just because "wheat" rhymes with "meat", doesn't mean they are in the same food group. I am seriously confused as to what you're trying to get at. All I can figure is that you somehow wanted to fit an explanation of Celiac in, while at the same time trying to preach your vegan BS logic.

So, your girlfriend is a vegan, I'm proud of you - but I couldn't care less. I also take offense to the complete lack of capitalization, sentence/paragraph structure and coherence in your postings. Scratch that, you did capitalize certain things you were trying to emphasize.

I eat the right amount of calories per day, I'm physically fit - and OMG wouldn't you know it, I sometimes eat meat.

I don't see any issue if someone chooses to eat one way or another, until they start acting like a pompous, stuck-up, self righteous idiot. Not to mention the mindless, un-necessary attacks directed toward someone's ex-wife and them "not knowing their sh--". When it gets to that, I really don't see a point in listening to what the person has to say.

Case in point, now is probably a good time to cram your cake - err... broccoli - hole shut, before you wind up digging yourself deeper than you already have.

That said, I just finished up at the gym. Going to mix up a nice whey protein shake and crack open this bag of beef jerky.

Wow, the guy was just saying that even though his girlfriend has Celiac disease and chooses to be a Vegan she can still get all the nutrients she needs to survive. Humans don't HAVE to have meat to make it through a day or week or year.

I personally choose to eat as much red meat as humanly possible because I like steak. To each their own.

The capitalization and punctuation thing is a bit more annoying than anything else he said, I agree with that remark. :)

Thank you Loopy, that is what I was trying to say. Also, e x i t English, i wasn't attacking anybody ex wife. What I said to Jeff is that he never said vegetarianism was a healthy thing but yet he still praised his ex wife the dietitian. There was no attack on anyones ex wife there. Another thing is, you can keep bragging about your protein shake, but just to let you know, the most recent studies have found that excess protein is the leading cause for osteoporosis, not lack of calcium. Excessive protein deteriorates the calcium, which eventually leads to weaker bones...

And one last thing, my spelling, punctuation and capitalization is just laziness, but i did it in the post just for you. :)

My vegan former wife is not only vegan, and a registered dietitian, and also has a masters in biology. Frankly that makes her an expert, and you, not. Humans are omnivores, period. They can choose to not eat meat, and that's fine, but you're assertion that it's "not the healthy choice" is not fact. That's talking out of your ass.

The irony is that I personally choose not to eat red meat because I feel it's an inefficient means of food production, and it's difficult to maintain my weight when I eat it, but whatever.

i never said your wife wasn't an expert jeff. but you are saying I'm talking out of my ass when numerous studys have sown that vegetarians are considerably healthier than people who eat meat. you seem to be missing my point. your ex wife is a dietitian, which means she probably knows what shes doing. if being a vegan wasn't something good and couldn't be easily done than she wouldn't be doing because like you said...shes an expert. so I'm still confused on what your trying to say. shes a dietitian and is a vegan, doesn't that say something about what she thinks is the healthy choice?

Jeff's avatar

I'm not missing your point. You made a nebulous statement with no proof. That's talking out of your ass. Being vegan or vegetarian and doing it right is not easy to do right. Any dietitian will tell you about the countless "vegetarian" people they see who are malnourished because they don't know how to eat right. You don't just stop eating meat and get a free pass to being healthier.

Not eating meat is not inherently healthier, period. There are areas of Europe where people eat mostly red meat and drown everything in butter, and live to be 95. Genetics, your environment, the amount of exercise you get and your diet are all variables, and every person is different. The common sense interpretation of dietary data is not that people eat too much meat (though many do), but rather that people don't eat enough fruits and vegetables combined with exercise. Demonizing meat is asinine and short-sighted. It ignores the bigger context.

dude, read books, find the facts yourself. you know nothing. its science...you cant prove it wrong.

Reading books written by the ex president of PETA does not make someone an "expert", brah.

did anyone mention a specific author? get over it buddy.

by the way, for someone who is very strict about there punctuation and grammar, you should know that "Brah" is not a word. well at least not in the context you just used it.

have you ever heard of someone being protein deficient? no, probably not. the fact of the matter is...most vegetarians weigh less than the average person which bring me back to my point of, if you want to lose weight, become a vegetarian.

Well, I've been protien deficient, so now you know someone. After my daughter was born I was hospitalized because protein deficeincy caused me to have pulimary edema and CHF. That's what you get for eating too little protein when pregnant.

The statement "if you want to lose weight, become a vegitarian" is patently false. A person could go to McDonalds and eat french fries three times a day and be a vegetarian and still not loose weight. She could consume mountians of cheese, butter, bread and chocolate and still be living a vegetarian lifestyle, and be fat. I know becuase I lived most of my life as a very over weight vegetarian.

I don't dispute your advocacy of a vegetarian lifestyle, but I do think you err in drawing a straight line: become a vegetarian=loose weight and be healthy when in real life its not that easy. One needs to understand the body's requirements and be committed to fulfilling them through alternate resources. Can it be done? Obviously Should it be done? Not by everyone. Since I've introduced meat into my diet I've become much healthier.

One thing I do know from experience is that being a vegetarian without intention and committment is a really malicious thing to do to one's body.

If you want my opinion (which I know nobody does), I think it's the off season and people are completely over analyzing
things more so than if they could get out of the house and go to the park.

I thought my earlier post would at least shed some light on the situation but obviously everyone is blinded my their monitor glow.

you said it yourself missy... it was caused from being pregnant. someone in everyday life being protein deficient is highly unlikely

First: I could care less which side is right on this topic.

Everyone here seems to be taking everything cpfanatic says out of context. He didn't seem to attack anyone in his post and has backed up everything he's said with facts.

Most people on this site seem to either

A) Take things out of context to try and make someone look like an idiot.

2) Say something, get proven wrong, then proceed to claim that the fact that proved them wrong is exactly what they were trying to explain to us "idiots". (has nothing to do with this topic, just in general)

But this is only like my 5th post so what do I know?

P.S. I know about the A, 2 thing. Just tryin to show I have a sense of humor, however dumb it may be.

Just because it's only your 5th post ever, doesn't mean you know nothing. :) Some people who lurk about the shadows know an awful lot but chose not to jump in untill the perfect time.

How do you spell irony? There, they're or their?

So Missy, next time you need to see a doctor, apparently you should see cpfanatic2006 instead. He knows better.

yet again jeff, over looking the point i made. I didn't say it, she said it herself. She was protein deficient because she was pregnant. she needed to consume a lot more protein than any average person. when she didn't consume enough for herself and the baby than yes...she will become protein deficient. but she didn't become protein deficient because she was living a normal life and eating regularly. she had a reason for being protein deficient. its not like she was eating for herself.

on the other hand, i heard this commercial today on the radio and it was trying to explain how to stop internet bullies. they said its people who are to scared to say something to someones face so they feel powerful by saying it over a computer screen where no one can see them. they also feel smarter than others because they think they know what they are doing. constantly putting others down makes them feel good. even if they are wrong. OH THE IRONY.

And all I wanted to ask is if there was anyone struggling to lose weight.. lol.
