Well I had posted pictures of Sky Scrapers demo, but I removed them because I was asked too. And since the Reflector posted that Shoot the Rapids is being removed this is where Rip Cord will be going. It will be swinging across the lagoon similar to Carowinds.
That would be such a waste of space. There's plenty of better things to do with the space where Shoot the Rapids now sits. That's a huge plot of land with prime access to the lagoon.

That's a very definitive statement...
To me, part of the appeal of these attractions is the kinetic appeal from a midway. It attracts attention from many passers-by and entices some of them to pay the upcharge. Kennywood or Six Flags Great America, for example: there are always people stopping and watching.
Just seems like using the STR space for Rip Cord would tone done that kinetic appeal.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

I will cry the day Ripcord leaves.... I loved being used as test dummies in the morning before the park opened!
Won't be anytime soon. As for right now it will be going where shoot the Rapids is now and swinging over the lagoon. It won't take all of shoot the Rapids footprint up tho which leaves for more expansion.
Hey Twisty, is Ripcord going in Shoot the Rapids' former location?

I would be rather befuddled by Ripcord going there, unless it's temporary while further plans are developed.
Right? I mean, on one hand that area does see significant traffic. But on the other hand, it seems like a strange use of that real estate. It will seem out of place back in the quiet confines of FT.

When was the last time you were on Frontier Trail? Shoot the Rapids isn't exactly bucolic, and Millennium Force travels practically the entire length of the trail. It hasn't been "quiet" for over 15 years. I do miss it being peaceful, as well.

One of the few (only?) things they got right with StR is the theme and landscaping of the area. The rapids look nice, they installed adequate theme in the buildings and such, and planted greenery in every possible spot they could. Had the ride been good enough to last its expected life span, that area would have been quite beautiful in a few short years.
I liken it to Maverick in that regard. It was painful how "scorched earth" they went with the install of both Maverick and StR, but already Maverick's area is filling in beautifully.

Considering that MF is a 300' coaster, I think they did a pretty great job limiting the impact on FT. The only time it's near the trail is the approach to and return from the island, and the tunnel does a decent job (both with regard to noise and aesthetics) of maintaining the tranquility of FT.

If they are really moving skyscraper, I hope they keep the price at $10 per person, or BOGO $10 with season pass (a friend and I split the cost so we each pay $5 to ride. That's all I care about :)
If it's really coming down, well, one less pay-separate attraction. Go karts were not that great, won't miss those!
I am for the expansion of soak city, however. Please let's get a tornado pro-bowl slide like at Kalahari! So many water parks have those, but not SC. Or liquid lightning type slide.
