Shoot the Rapids - Height Limits

crazy horse's avatar

I forgot about superman because I don't usaly ride the flying coasters. But it's the type of ride that you can't carry anything on anyway.

Nitro has an area for loose articals. I remember, because there was some kid with a stuffed monkie with a bannana up it's butt(I kid you not)that had to leave it on the platform.

What are you planning on bringing on the coaster with you anyway? At most, I have a fanny pack with me. All I need is a place for my camera, wallet, and car key.Anything else can be left in the car.

There are no bins on disaster transport, m force, top thrill dragster,or woodstock express. I am not sure about mine ride eather.

Someone asked earlier in the thread about the Red Cross Riders...I was one of them and my son was supposed to ride with me. The nice people at the Red Cross assured us that the height restrictions were still the same, and they were until after 9:30 Saturday morning. My son (along with one of management's grandchildren) is 44.5 inches, so he could no longer ride. For those of you who think that the kids don't really care, perhaps you would've liked to have been there to explain to a 5 year old why he couldn't ride when 2 hours earlier he could. Did he get over it, absolutely. It didn't hurt that the higher ups at CP gave him a GIANT Snoopy doll. I think the big issue here isn't that the ride requirement is 46", but rather that it was INITIALLY advertised at 42". All in all, the change SUCKED, but it is what it is. CP management handled the situation as best they could (see above mentioned Snoopy), the Red Cross offered to refund the donation (we insisted they keep it), and he got to keep his swag bag with all the CP stuff in it. The one other thing I asked is that when he is tall enough (most likely next year), I get to move him to the front of the STR line, baby ;-).

I agree that CP isn't the best park for families with smaller kids. I took my 2 boys to Kings Island earlier this year, and it is an excellent alternative to CP for the kids. A lot of the rides were 44" and up, but we made that cut off. They have some great "starter" coasters that the kids loved, and I was actually comfortable in. Just another option.

Same thing at great adventure. There is maybe 2 rides that don't. El Toro, and kingda ka.

Superman: Ultimate Flight, Batman: The Ride, El Toro, Kingda Ka, The Dark Knight Coaster, Bizarro, & Nitro are all rides that can not have loose articles left past the entrance to those rides.

Also Skull Mountain, the log flume, rapids and Scream Machine. I hate them, and am glad Cedar Fair with a few exceptions doesn't have mandatory lockers.

They dont have manditory lockers there eather. Where did you hear that?

What can't you bring on a ride at six flags, that you can at cedar point?

Btw...

If you look at the wecam right now, the parking lot is 3/4 full and str is a walk on. They are sending out half empty boats and no line. Not a good thing for a new ride.

^agreed. CP needs to get back to what it's here for, mega thrills...hopefully with empty queues on StR we won't have to hear about how much CP needs to focus on "the family".

^Sorry to burst your bubble but he wan't more family friendly attractions.

Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc

Actauly, I want both.

The problem is, they have nothing for the 42"-just under 46" crowd. Except for kiddie rides.

I would love to see another 500 foot mega coaster, but at the same time, I want something that we can all ride together as a family.

Most other parks have both types of rides.

I think that the problem is that cp is known for big coasters, and that's why there is not as much of a variaty.

Actually, it's here to make money for its shareholders. And families spend far more than thrill-seekers.

Certainly looks like a full queue and full boats to me.

I see a bunch of people on the exit stairs. Can't come to any other conclusion than those people are rushing to get off because they didn't want to ride.

Actually, it's funny you should mention "full boats", yet another issue, the mysterious empty back row that surely can't be another problem with the ride.

JuggaLotus's avatar

No. The park put it there solely so you could whine about it.

Thanks for the link to your homepage. I'll make sure to check it when Beck can't give me enough uninformed opinion for the day.

I understand what you are saying. They do offer passes for parents with young children to wait at the exit and exchange the child off. As for little rides. Little little ones are out of luck. But I am sure it is for safety reasons.

Ok, learn how to spell "either" and multiple other words while complaining. You are old enough to have a daughter and bitch about what she can't ride, you should be old enough to write in friggin english.

Disaster Transport lets you take pretty much any loose article with you. It just has to be on the floor of the train. Obviously Millennium and Dragster can't have bins because they were designed with separate load/unload stations. Woodstock and Cedar Creek Mine Ride lets you leave your crap on the station platform.

Let's Get Weird.

I believe that should be ...friggin' English:)

Friggin is a word? I think you need to learn english.

Wrong...

Disaster transport does NOT let you bring anything with you. How do I know this? I used to work on the ride. We had a few issues with people bringing basket balls on the ride and throwing them at the scenery. Not to mention, if anything got dropped into the track it could stop the shuttle.

If you actually stopped and read the whole thread, we were talking about bins. I said that I was not sure if mine ride had bins or not.

Call me silly, but I never paid that much attention to the bins because I don't bring much with me to an amusement park where I am going to be going on rollercoasters all day.

Same thing goes for any amusement park that I go to. At the most, I may bring a fanny pack. I can never understand why some people feel the need to carry backpacks around with them all day.

So what your saying is that because cedar point has a few more rides than six flags does that lets you leave things on the platform, cedar point is so much better?

I think some of you need to go to the doctor and get a cure for "fanboy".

I love cedar point as much as a lot of you do, however, the park has really gone down hill the past few years. Is it hard to grasp that there are parks out there that just may be better or just as good as cedar point?

I used to be the ultamite fanboy as well, but I started to do some traveling, and I found a lot of really nice parks out there. I learned a lot from going to these other parks. For one, it does not have to be the tallest and fastest to be fun. There is no doubt that cedar point has the biggest coasters out there, but that does not make them the best. Name any coaster at cedar point, and I could tell you one that is better or just as good. Cedar points coasters are fun, I am not saying that they are not.

Anyway....

Got to start packing because we are going to holiday world this weekend.
