"SFWoA Is Better Than Cedar Point"

When you have to state that your better than some one else, most likely your not!

Either she is on drugs or being paid. Generally actors are paid to lie and thats what happened in this situation

it's sad when people say that they're going to shoot someone for saying that their park is better than the other..get a life peoples! While Cedar Point is a great park, it most certainly is not the BEST park out there. Yes, believe it or not, while few and between, there are some parks that are better, granted, Six Flags does stink, but I know that because I've BEEN THERE. People who say it sucks and haven't even been there don't know what the heck they're talking about.

2Hostyl brought up the point that more Cedar Point fans buy SF passes than SF fans buying CP passes.

That's true, but I think there's a different way to look at that.

I consider myself to be a CP butt-kisser, but in a completely warranted sort of way. Compared to the other parks in the area... Um... SFWoA... CP is quite easily the better park, in nearly all aspects of the comparison. By the way, when I visited the SF in Ohio last summer, I tried very, very hard to like it. Two days later, I went to the Point, and the difference was like night and day. I speak trying to be as objective as I can be.

The reason, then, that a lot of people buy SF passes is because, for one, they're much cheaper than the CP ones, and secondly, they're more flexible. Both chains allow admission to all of their sibling parks with one park's pass, but Six Flags has about three times the parks Cedar Fair does. I live in Illinois and bought a very overpriced ($82) SFGAm pass, not only for SFGAm, but for when I go to Ohio, or California, or wherever else I'm going to be.

I also contend that CP is more of a resort park, and SFWoA is more of a city park, but that could just be the point of view from someone who lives two states over. With hotels on property, many people make a weekend of Cedar Point a few times a summer, whereas (and this is how I am with SFGAm) people going to SFWoA just decide to pick up and go for the hell of it.

This theory, of course, relies on a fairly neutral distance geographically from both parks. If I lived 5 minutes away from one, I'd naturally be at that one more.

As for the commerical. Sure... Whatever. Any educated coaster fan will laugh it off, many Clevelanders who know of both the parks will probably see through the statement, especially if they have visited both recently, and all of the others will probably want to visit, but probably not at the expense of a CP vacation.

I just don't see how SFWoA (or Premier, whoever is responsible) expects they're going to sway anyone's opinion. People want to do both, for the vastly different experience both offer, and I don't think a commercial is going to make someone stop going to CP (or, as a more widespread example, drinking Coke) because SFWoA (or Pepsi) says they're better.

I agree with what matt2003 said. It's not the best park in the world, in every category though. I would say it has the best rides anyday. But it doesn't have the qualities a lot of other parks have. For example, you don't go to Disney World for the rides. But it's still one of the most popular parks in the world. Guess why Hersheypark is so popular...

In my opinion Cedar Point is the best park out there, but not everyone will agree. But in the case of SFWoA, at least have something to show for what they said.

Has it ever occured to some of you that most don't care what is said in a 30 second ad, but instead only care about two things:

1)What kind of deals are you offering this year?

2)Are you opening anything new?

Most people are savvy enough to know the rest is crap and filler. Other than that, I'll go with my mom's usual comment. They interrupted The Practice for this?

Come on guys, we take this stuff way too seriously, stop trying to control the world. If you like CP, then continue going.

I tend to agree with Rob in that the parks are very different and attract different audiences. Six Flags Geauga Lake has been a babysitter for a lot of years now, and it's one of the things I don't like about it. You know you're in for trouble when you have a drop-off point at the gate.

Dare I say that the parks have two different classes of people even. One considers a trip to McDonalds as "going out," while the other would consider it "going out" only if you're talking Outback Steakhouse. Both have beef, but which one is really better?

I also agree that for the most part people aren't stupid (other than the high school marketing class that crafted the ad). People want something tangible if you're going to make a comparison, and dogging something that hundreds of thousands of people in the area have a familiarity and history with is really not the way you sway them.

It's kind of like radio these days. Some idiots in New York tell us what to play, even if it doesn't really suit us. In this case, some idiots in Oklahoma City apply tactics that make no sense in the context of our market, and may have the opposite of the intended effect.

I think that Amusement Today's Golden Ticket awards would beg to differ, especially since CP was won the award for BEST PARK 4 straight years. The poll is given to hundreds of delegates around the US and in Europe, so don't just say it's a local poll.

Oh My Lord...I Just Agreed with Jeff!

Personally I think SFWOA could be great. Combining the two parks add for a family atmosphere. However the park wasn't designed to hold so many people. And not to mention the rude staff and trash everywhere. While I think it could be a great local park, Six Flags doesn't see it that way. However if the park keeps going the way it is, I will never return!

When our family went to SFWOA, my dad said, and I quote: "This sure is a poor man's Cedar Point, isn't it?"

apparently you guys missed my second point as well, people here are saying they hate six flags whatever or think it sucks when they haven't even been there, so i ask you this, if someone asks you to jump off a bridge, would you? I do agree with Jeff on some points, but just because we post on his site, does NOT mean we have to agree with him or prove him right...
I have been to SFWOA and I had two free tickets to go back last year that I never used. That should tell you where I stand on which park that I like better.

02 MF Circuts=???

I love both parks but........NO WAY is sfwoa is better than the point...I haven't seen the commerical yet but i'm sure to get a good laugh when i see it.
How do you know who has or hasn't been to six flags matt? Are you stalking all of us? I've been to both many times, and I really think that six flags is lacking in every imaginable category against CP...

Jeff,

My "hobby" (weekend radio voice tracking) is getting very interesting.

New studios! The new boards for the Prod studio and Air studio cost $17,000 EACH! Midwest Communications is not messing around! EVERYTHING is top of the line!

I love playing with the new toys.

I've never been to SFWoA, and I don't plan to. Cedar Point is my home park and always will be. Six Flags can go kiss my booty! Besides, I don't think Six Flags can say they were voted best amusement park in the world, or that they have more coasters, more record breaking events, etc.

No, I'm not stalking anyone sicko....
