Rougarou ranking!

Pete said everything I was going to say.

Mantis was always a ride I would try to get on if the lines weren't insanely long (over 45 minutes). Now, Rougarou is a must-ride every visit to the park. It's a great layout, and my favorite parts are the twists and turns, and not necessarily even the inversions. The figure-8 ending might rival Raptor's helix for me as the second best ending to a ride at Cedar Point (First being Maverick's Stengel dive into the airtime hill).

Big Fan of Rougarou. If I'm riding it the front or back rows, I gotta say I like it more than Valravn. I like Valravn, but besides the drop and the 270 roll, I find that ride to be incredibly underwhelming. Griffon is a 1000x better in my opinion. So yea, I'll take Rougarou over Valravn.

How is griffon better than Valravn in any way, shape or form? They're more or less the same ride, but Valravn has a longer drop, 270 degree roll, an airtime hill, but no splashdown, which you don't even notice on the ride.

Newer restraints, more smooth inversions, great view, actually doesn't stack.

Griffon is sweet, BGW is my favorite park, it's a solid coaster, but Valravn has plenty of brownie points.

I was saying Valravn was way better the Griffon because it does everything Griffon does, but better, there, devarious.

Ah I skim read this while looking through work emails. Long morning so far. Coffee isn't even coming close to getting me motivated.

Four more meetings to go...

Coffee isn't working? Time for a red bull and a shot of bourbon

Bourbon is for lunch :P

Unfortunately I have a short lunch today, so it's City Barbeque really quick and then back into it. So many custom projects to finish by the end of this week...yikes

Rougarou is alright but I think Valravn is better.

Of the B&M's, my list would look this this:

Raptor, Valravn, Rou, Gatekeeper

Just mix coffee and red bull for a chance to see colors!

Yea it's 20 ft higher, which is nothing really and it has the 270 roll which is very cool but the rest of the ride just feels underwhelming. I've been on the ride in every seat, and I just feel the same way. Griffon is an airtime machine. I float out of my seat that entire ride. It just feels much, much more intense and forceful to me. The splashdown is very cool but I do agree, I don't even care that Valravn has one. I thought I would but I was surprised to see it didnt. A good surprise. Valravn is a very good solid ride, I just was underwhelmed. I'm glad to have it at CP though. It's a different experience then anything else there. I want my RMC MS and GCI woodie now. No more B&Ms for a couple rides please!

My order of the B&M's goes Gatekeeper, Rougarou, Raptor, Valravn. I don't just consider the layout, I consider things like ride ops, the line, and how the ride looks. I love Gatekeeper because it always has a short line and is fairly smooth if you pick a seat with soft wheels. It has the best ops in the park by far. One day Gatekeeper had a 20 minute wait, then I walked over to Raptor and it had a 75 minute wait some how. I love Rougarou because of the short line and the back row. The back row is the magic row. It is the smoothest and has the most force. I love Raptor because I love inverts and it has amazing latterals. I don't like some of the rough transitions especially the final break run. It seems to have a line a lot. I rank Valravn at the bottom of my list because it is pretty tame and boring for the line it gets. I'm sure in a couple of years it will have lines around the size of Gatekeeper. I will ride it then, but for now I won't ride it unless its a 10 min wait or less. Its too boring and I only ride it for the views. I know Cedar Point is an amazing park when I have to rank Valravn at the bottom of my list of things to ride.

SV ruins all other rides.

Has anyone been on the Facebook coaster fan sites? Every time they post something about Rougarou, it seems like a lot of people dislike Rougarou. I thought most everyone liked the transitions? Now a year later, you read about different people complaining about it. Uuugggghhh!

Don't listen to them. That has always been a good design.

Just wanted to bring this topic back because today I just rode Rougarou for the 100th time! What does everyone think of that? W00T W00T!

...should we start calling you Rougarou Shawn? Are you going to get a neon green t shirt?

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

I rode Rougarou once when I was last at CP two years ago and was underwhelmed. I never liked Mantis at all, but I was hopeful Rougarou would be better. While it was much smoother and I didn't hate it like I did Mantis, I didn't really enjoy it anymore as far as thrills go.

I would be fine never riding again but this weekend I'll be with my wife who's never ridden it. Any recommendations for the best spot to ride to get the most thrill out of it?

On both rides I always tried for front row far right, but that's merely for the dip/turn off the drop. Otherwise I can't help you, unless it would be to talk your wife into skipping. I'm with you, I don't care for either version.

I'm not really sure why, but I actually like Rougarou alot. Didn't like Mantis at all.
