Rougarou ranking!

When Jason McClure was talking about the ride during the off season, he said you'll want to ride it again at night because if the effects. I never rode it at night. Does it actually have cool lighting effects or is it the same as it is in the day time?

What he probably meant was that you'll want to ride it again and again in a futile attempt to find the effects that they never bothered to install.

The only effects I ever saw were the mist and the howl at the beginning of the season. Haven't noticed the howl at all lately and the mist has been on only sometimes. Neither is noticeable when on the ride, also haven't noticed any lighting effects at night.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I rode it for the 2nd time this season Sunday. I enjoyed riding in the front this time, that was way better than the 1st time. No smoke only howling I heard was in the middle of the day I was walking by it.

But the head knocking continues, and for that it ruins what I think is a great layout and way better as a floorless.

Seeing the videos for ValRavyn it's really the same kind of coaster train except it's wider. Yet I see that these trains will have the new restraints Gatekeeper,Banshee. I think IMO if Rougarou had these type of restraints this ride could be one of the best!! Instead they have these huge OTS restraints with thick hard rubber. I don't understand this at all. These are all B&M coasters, the other Dive Coasters have the older type of restraints. But not this new one. The new B&M restraints are awesome. The new restraints on Maverick rule!!

Change the restraints on Rougarou and that ride will be full every year not just part of it's 1st season.

By the way I'm new here 1st post. Love The Point!! I forget who said it earlier, but riding in the front on Rougarou is like flying!!

^ When you felt the head banging, was it the second half after the mid course brake run? That's usually where I find it. And am I the only one that doesn't notice it that much?

I don't notice much headbanging either. I only did once on Media Day. I usually stick my head out anyway. I'll be riding this during Fall Freak Out ERT on Sunday.

I'm still not experiencing head banging. Definitely not saying it isn't happening to others though. I just can't help but love Rougarou. It's a completely different experience.

I seemed to only notice head banging during the second half.

Thanks guys for the support. Yeah I Love Rougarou too Twisted Wicker! This conversion to Rougarou will go down in my book as the best ride announcement ever!

I stick my head out a little, so Rougarou gives no headbanging to me. Of course, neither did Mantis.

Absolutely love Rougarou.

I had several folks with me in June from Florida, all of whom would fall into the "general public" category we so love to refer to here on this forum.

They loved Rougarou. I asked them if they felt headbanging or if the ride was uncomfortable and none of them expressed any of this. We rode several times.

Great addition.

So since we're midway through October, has anyone been obsessed over Rougarou? When we had Fall Freak out back in September, me and Thabto(Brian) rode Rougarou 10 straight times! Every time I go to Cedar Point, I have to ride Rougarou!

I think Rougarou was underwhelming. It was much more intense as Mantis, and intensity is my favorite part of a ride, as long as it's decently good.

I'd put Rougarou 7th.
1) Maverick
2) Millennium Force
3) Raptor
4) GateKeeper
5) Top Thrill Dragster
6) Magnum
7) Rougarou
8) Gemini

It's certainly more rideable now, but still isn't a top-5 ride (at cedar point) with the lineup they currently have. Magnum, Raptor, Millennium, Dragster, and Maverick are widely regarded as better rides.

The biggest problem with Rougarou is the 2nd half is quite uneventful outside of a stand-up ride. The long figure-8 finish feels out of place on a big looping coaster.

^ You have a point CP Maverick. Maybe they should have added an Interlocking corkscrew like Dominator at Kings Dominion. Either way, I'm still a huge Rougarou fan!

I dislike it. The slowdown makes me zany. Everybody says it is faster, but it is not. The trains are vastly lighter, so the speeds are lower. It does not change speed as much as Mantis, so it seems faster. It isn't. The heavier trains scrubbed more speed on the uphill portions and in the turns. But they were WAY faster in the downhills. A full Rouga train weighs about as much as an empty Mantis train. Hence the need to not trim the train on the first hill. I'd rather ride Mean Streak or Pipe Scream. Any day. The lack of line post new-buzz shows its long-term popularity as not much...

I do like the ride, but it was more exciting as Mantis. Rougarou is a front seat ride, where you get the visuals of the floorless trains. The back is fun but I don't notice the floorless aspect of the ride unless I sit in the front seat. The second part of the ride, after the trim, is too slow. It worked better in the stand-up configuration where it seemed more lively through the turns. But, overall, I think it is more rideable for many people, so it is a plus for the park. Personally, I would like it as Mantis again.

Lines have nothing to do with popularity. If a ride fills every seat on every cycle, it doesn't magically move more people because it has a longer line. Long lines only affect how many extra people it moves after closing time, or reflect the capacity of the ride relative to others.

Actually Jeff, I'll take you to task on your comment.

I did not imply with my comment that rides somehow managed to ride more guests if the line was longer...

Marketing here takes into account RPH (Riders per hour) at interval (that is the average "best" speed the ride can operate at) and then compare average season-long wait times versus park population to calculate relative popularity of major rides.

By your implication, MF has long lines because it has low RPH at interval. It has long lines because it is popular.

If every rider that wanted to ride MF suddenly by magic wanted to ride Rouga instead, the lines would be epic. Perhaps the perception is that the average guest is like you, a very serious park fan, believe me they are not.

So, relax Jeff! I think you are awesome and so is the site!

It might be epic for a little bit, but Rougarou would eat the people in that line so much faster than MF does, then they'd all go over to MF and have to wait in line anyways.
