Rougarou ranking!

Well since we are like Midway through 2015, I just wanted to gather everyone's opinion of what they thought of Rougarou? I'm obsessed with Rougarou like I am with Shoot the Rapids. Ever since Rougarou Media Day/Preview night, I just cannot get enough of this ride. I feel like Cedar Point did a great job promoting this ride and the ride performance is so much better than Mantis. Based on the last topic before it was deleted, I gathered that 70% liked it, 30% were like meh, or just didn't like it. On my list Millennium Force is still #1, Maverick #2, Rougarou #3, Gatekeeper #4, Raptor #5. If you want to know the rest, just ask me.

I like it! I think this was a great investment for the park. I ride it at least once when I'm there.

I absolutely love it. It was a great move to make an un-enjoyable ride actually enjoyable. I wouldn't change a thing about it (other than the weird blocking system). Front row is my favorite. It just feels so free.

I think the conversion to Rougarou was a great move. They took a ride with a declining ridership and created a good ride that attracts more people. I always liked the track layout and elements but never could find a comfortable position to ride as Mantis. I definitely ride it most visits to the park now. Plus when the crew are hitting their intervals, its a people eater on capacity.

I dont ever remember CP saying what they spent on the whole Rougarou conversion, but assuming they spent $5-$7 million, it was a great investment over spending $25-$30 on a new coaster. Now what other coasters at other Cedar Fair parks may get a makeover?

I think the project was a success from the park's perspective, but I also think the ride was only marginally improved. While certainly more comfortable to ride and with improved capacity, the restraints still beat the hell out my head, far worse than Raptor ever has.

But so long as more folks ride it than did Mantis, it's a pretty efficient win for the park.

1.) Millennium Force

2.) Maverick

3.) Top Thrill Dragster

4.) Gatekeeper

5.) Rougarou

Prior to the conversion I think Raptor would have been #5. If they would have been able to use the vest restraints on Rougarou I probably would have ranked it #4. Heck, maybe even #2 depending on the day and how many rides are in operation at the park.

^^ Agreed. I really like Rougarou, but it would be much better with the vest style restraints. The discomfort of Mantis seats is gone, but still some headbanging onto those bars if you're not bracing yourself

Yes a top 5 for sure. I just think the original track layout is just a tad bit too intense and the tight turns after the MCBR lead to some crazy head banging towards the front of the train. I love my old Dominator at Geauga Lake with its long high speed turns before and after the Cobra Roll much better. Man, I seriously miss that park!

Love the back seat. Very smooth but intense with barely a head tap. The front has too much uncontrollable head banging. Just glad I prefer the back seat on most rides.
I also love how people don't have to pay attention to instructions when they load which made loading Mantis take forever.

It isn't a ride that I would wait over an hour for like Millennium or Maverick. But I do enjoy the ride. It really is a good layout. Especially the first half. Compared to Mantis it's 100% better. I would agree that this was a win for CP.

This season - CP visits: 9 KI visits: 2 Total Rides: 217

I haven't seen Rougarou exceed 1 hour waits. They got a good crew this year that are good at loading the trains. I see alot of trains leave as soon as the previous one clears the MCBR. And since they dropped those dumb IROC procedures, capacity is great.

I think it is speculated that the Vortex coasters at Carowinds and CGA will be converted. Many of us hope Mean Streak will get an RMC makeover.

I enjoy Rougarou much better than Mantis! I rode Mantis once and never thought about going back on it. I was hesitant about riding Rougarou, but I've been on it at least once every time that I've visited CP this year. I think it was a great idea for the transformation!

I have to ride it every time I go now, love this ride now!

It's definitely in my coaster line up when I go. Maverick, TTD, Millennium, Wicked Twister, and Rougarou are my must rides.

1. Maverick

2. Dragster

3. Millennium Force

4. GateKeeper

5. Raptor

6. Magnum

7. Rougarou

It's my 7 but I do like it and think they made a great investment.

I really love Rougarou! It is my 2nd favorite coaster, and the whole floorless experience is amazing!

Yeah I agree Alex, the only area that I notice a little headbanging is after the Mid-course brake run in a couple spots. Other than that, so much better experience. I will always look back at the 2014 year as the year that Cedar Point proved a lot of people that it can be done!

I've only had the chance to ride Rougarou once, back in May. Despite that, I agree that it is a much improved experience over Mantis, and a wise investment by the park. I would have it in my top 5 at Cedar Point, but probably not my top 5 overall.
