Roller Coaster History Timeline Added to Construction Fence

After looking a little harder, I predict that whatever they put in will have an entrance to the right of Blue Streak station, where Calypso & Turnpike cars used to be.

Yup. I can see an entrance sign (like the new Rougarou one) going where Calypso used to be. It's also interesting to note that some of the old Turnpike Cars queue rails and entrance are still standing behind the construction fence over by BS. Look over there next time you ride it.

I wouldn't expect an entrance for a major new coaster to be tucked away in the back like that. I can see the entrance being off the main midway close to where the dodg'ems were. I do see a new pathway being contructed to connect to the Blue Streak midway and then a new attraction, possibly a dark ride being tucked back there.

I definitely expect it. How else will they get traffic over there? And I can almost guarantee the pirate ride will turn into something as well for the new midway. Probably a shop or restaurant. Another sit down place over there would be great.

I too would rather the entrance be located along the main midway and have the Blue Streak midway extended. Other rides and shops (dark ride) can eventually be added back by Blue Streak to increase foot traffic.

I feel that way more than just a coaster is going into this section of the park within the next five years.

I would rather see said dark ride be tucked tight against the maintenance building between the sling shot ride and mean streak. I do not want to see a large box anywhere near the newly cleared land.

That would be ideal but I don't have much hope that that will happen.

I will be impressed if they squeeze a 223 foot four inversion dive machine in the cleared land without tearing down the dorms.

^ Here's a dumb question. Would they have to tear down all the dorms for the proposed new dive roller coaster?

I think there's plenty of room. The less space the more creative a park has to get and that doesn't usually end up being a bad thing.

That's a question we can not answer until the ride is officially announced and we get a real layout stats.

No visible signs of anything besides the wall signs and land clearing.

You aren't looking hard enough.

What else is there? I haven't seen construction equipment or footers or even ground work besides planting grass.

The pumpkin patch!

If CP builds the dive machine at 223 feet, I wonder how tall the first inversion will be. Most likely an immelmann. 180 feet? 175? They could break another record for world's tallest inversion.

I just hope whatever it is it has the anticipation and excitment that MF and TTD had. I feel like we haven't had that in a while. It would be cool to see them build a jawdropper again. Fingers crossed!

I was just thinking over the stats published in the paper, 223 feet tall, maximum of 80mph, etc... and looked at the stats for Sheikra (200 feet and 70mph) and Griffon (205 feet and 71mph). If my physics is correct, for Valravn to travel at 80mph, it will need a drop around 250 feet, which would mean we're getting a tunnel for sure, or it will need some kind of launch element, which is unlikely, and defeats the purpose of a dive coaster's 'pause' element. Anyways, either the leaked stats were incorrect or we're in for some kind 'surprise'.

If the park does indeed get a dive coaster, I feel like a lot of the stats from that article are going to be wrong.

Someone commented about the space needed for a big "box" structure for a indoor coaster. I was at Disney in April and rode Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster, from what I recall the structure did not seem to take up much real estate. However, I could have a foggy memory because of the excitement of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, & the boys talking to me.

Like someone above stated, I wouldn't want something too large blocking the view of Famous Daves.

It's not just the size of the box but the placement. With DT finally down, the park doesn't need another box blocking its world-class views.

A dark ride doesn't necessarily need to be a big ugly box. With the right design, it could be an aesthetically pleasing structure. DT was a poorly designed structure, because enclosing it was an afterthought. If it was designed to be an indoor ride at the drawing board, the structure could've been better.

A huge coaster and little space means the world's largest spaghetti bowl.

The building you see is not the show building -- based on seconds of research on Google Maps, the show building and the "tunnel" building would seem to be two to three times the size of that building.

If I'm recalling correctly, a launch coaster allowed them to place the show building out of the line of sight for guests
