Roller Coaster History Timeline Added to Construction Fence

First, they poured new concrete.

Then, they started to assemble new wooden contraptions on the fresh concrete behind the fence.

Now, they're removing the signs from the fence.

Hmm.. Did they really just pour more concrete so they could move the fence back, maybe to use that raised deck for something? The announcement?

The structure(s) being built behind the fence were almost certainly not for another fence. They were framing something up.

They took down the signs because they changed their minds about Valravn. They're not building it any more since we already know the secret.

The cost of the ride is only pocket change anyway.

I think those structures were for the fence. The fence has two U shaped areas now that utilize the new concrete. All of the coaster signs are down and stored off to the side.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

CP America's Roller Coast (Facebook page) posted pictures of the new fence behind the old one.

Halloweekends- Harvest Fear, Tombstone Terror-Tory
Ride Operations- Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling

IMO they will be selling the cardboard VR headsets that will use GPS and allow you to use your phone to look at what the area will look like when they are done, before it's built. This new cemented area could be like a viewing area.

As part of the announcement ceremony, they will probably have the ride signs on the stage and will add the new Valravn one

When I was on Sky Ride I saw the new concrete pad before they moved the fences back and I distinctly thought that they were already working the the queue line for whatever is coming next year :P

Alex over at Coaster Chit Chat's facebook page posted that is it now located along the marina entrance wall. Picture included.

That's weird how they moved it over there. No one is going to see that unless they're going to the Marina.

What is so weird about drawing attention to what is likely to be an amazing new entry plaza to the park with a towering ride above it?

I am thinking that this is only phase one of bringing an improved profit center to the marina side of the park.

Yes! So glad we have some new concrete for 2016 :')

I was at Cedar Point on Friday and saw them constructing the new fence. It's interesting, the fence is no longer straight, and I'm not sure why they would go through this effort to rebuild the fence unless they also need to construct something in front of it. The coaster signs were still leaning against the fence while we were there, and I knew they wouldn't be able to put them back up in the same location, so it's interesting that they moved them over by the marina. Only a tiny percentage of patrons will see them over there, so that's a bit of a waste.

I was able to see behind the wall while they were working on it, and there's nothing bug grass and piles of dirt at this point. :)

This was my first time visiting Cedar Point since 2007, so quite a bit new for me to see! :)

AlbertY, I hope you weren't expecting to find Dodgem by that fence :)

Nope, found that over by Wicked Twister. :D

I remember seeing a post here last week about wooden boxes being constructed behind the fence. Yesterday when riding CP&LE railroad, I saw those wooden boxes behind Mean Streak being used for storage for Halloweekends coffin props. Not sure if this has been discussed, but thought I'd share.

All these fences. Just for clarification, they 1) took down the signs from the original fence, 2) built a new fence by the marina gate, and 3) put the coaster signs up over there.

Yes?

And is the original fence now gone? Or is that one still there to?

Promoter of fog.

I think what people (including me) assumed were box-like structures actually turned into the supports for the new, oddly-shaped wall. The reason I assumed what they were building were structures, is that they were building trapezoid-shaped... things. Those fences sure look like they're supported from behind by trapezoid-shaped... things.

Brandon

Here's my understanding (hoping to get down tomorrow, even though the announcement was postponed).

It's the same exact wall that stretches the back side of the site along Perimeter Road, up through the marina gate, and around the corner where the timeline stood. Behind the timeline, the wall was brought back in two \_/ shaped notches. The timeline was moved around the corner on the wall by the marina gate.

Ahh thanks for clarifying. I just noticed the shape of the wall and completely bypassed that it isn't a straight wall anymore.
