But Intamin thought it had a solid design. It was a design that was working on Xcellerator and Intamin said they could scale it up without a problem. They were apparently wrong.
It is my understanding that Xcelerator was tested extensively so that Intamin and CF could really understand how the ride performs. This was in the spring of 2002, which is after footers for TTD had been poured. Apparently, Intamin and CF were well aware of the potential problems TTD would have after testing Xcelerator, but it was too late to postpone the project. I'm confident that Intamin knew quite well TTD would be full of problems but they had no choice but to continue with the project. *** Edited 6/1/2006 10:36:22 PM UTC by lettuce***
Lettuce, excellent point! I am sure both CP and Intamin had full disclosure with potential problems and I suspect this honesty paved the road for Project '07. Back in the very beginning, very few people would have guessed CP would install 4 Intamin coasters in a row! CP is turning into an Intamin showcase IMO, and I for one could not be happier.
Conversly, I'm not so sure Intamin knew there would be so many issues with TTD. Dragster's opening could have been postponed beyond opening day.
We also need more blog updates imo.
I highly doubt Intamin "knew" anything...it's not like we're talking about the Challenger explosion here...it's a rollercoaster.
I am, however, under the opinion that the problems with TTD have a LOT to do with why CP is installing a new Intamin coaster. It isn't hard to connect the dots here.
For all bitching people do about Intamin, they simply build the world's best coasters...period.
Oh...IMO, of course. :)
I have been browsing through some intamin pictures, and with what looks like it could be a double helix looks like the one in Rita: Queen of speed at Alton Towers. That could also explain the sign at the construction site that says "Get ready for some serious sidewindin'" because rita is all about seed and sidewinding and dosn't have much height which could be why almost all of the track in the pics has some kind of curve. Also, the concrete supports in the form of a helix that are 2 next to eachother would be for the supports on rita if you look at some pictures.

That is my best guess on what we'll see in 2007.
Possibly with a few more inversions.

Ride on, MrScott!
Okay, so I claim ignorance here. I have never been on another Intamin Accelerator coaster besides Top Thrill Dragster. If we are looking at a coaster with inversions, are Intamin's OTSR seats more accomodating than the lap bar design? I don't think Cedar Point will deal with another Intamin that many people are unable to ride.

A whole bunch of track and supports sitting in a parking lot is right up there with "Bench: The Ride!" ;)

Oh no, I was talking about the aerial truck at the end of the parking lot.
I think they're just going to give rides in the bucket. ;)

I bet that they figured Dragster would have gone down for a day or two by now and they were anticipating the ability to go into the hydraulic room while it sat dormant. ;)
I don't think the stakes around Antique Cars is for decoration. The announcement of the coaster will no doubt coincide with the closure of that ride as well.

With the amount of room in the staging area do you think that they might be going for a length breaking coaster after the two short coasters they put in... I think the only thing we can say for sure is
1>) It is Intamin
2>) It is red
3> It will invert at least once
4> Water will be involved
5> This one is one that I am going to stick with untill they announce and am proven wrong I am saying that it is going to be longest roller coaster in park // world.....

They still have 3 other sections they can fill with track...
For comparison here is some of the staging from force that I could find...

This is just some more ideas after checking progress and just trying to put the clues togather....
