Project 2007 Blog Update

I was hoping for a B&M dive coaster too.

I think the layout even looks like that of SheiKras at Busch Gardens Africa. Although sadly I know it won't be anything like it, A verticle drop would be perfect after that turn around which would be after a 210 ft 45* lift hill. I am such a dreamer

Yeah but since BGT has a Universal-Galaxy wide-Cross Dimensional-Exclusivity contract on Dive Machines with B&M, we won't see one for at least 5 years.

Intamin makes some great rides, and some admittedly bad ones. I'm sure that after this coaster is installed, our chances of seeing a B&M as the next CP coaster will increase.

And, yeah John, growing up we must have gone through hundreds and hundreds of bottles of Towne Club on our camping trips - including our trips to Camper Village. Good stuff, and cheap too.

Why Intamin?

IMHO, I like Intamin coasters much better than B&M. I am very happy it is an Intamin.

I think B&M's are ugly, and the wide track gauge makes the coasters appear smaller than they are. It detracts from the "forced perspective" illusion of greater height.

I also don't like the 4-wide trains. I think the Intamin trains on MF provide a MUCH better view and overall ride experience.

B&M makes the best inverted's around. If you want an inverted, don't buy anything else. Their mega-loopers are very good too, and were groundbreaking when they came out- but they are still eyesores and other companies such as Intamin now have the ability to make a world-class mega-looper.

And Raging Bull is the worst Hyper I've ever been on. It just sucks. MF, Maggie, and Superman SFNE are the best Hypers I've been on, and 2 of them are Intamin.

Intamin's coasters from the last 8 years or so have been extremely reliable. The 2 tera-rockets have had problems, but primarily with the prototype hydraulic launch. WT had structural problems, but it was the first of its size, and the structural design was different from the previous impulses.

Other than the Impulses (which have all been fixed with a relatively simple fix) and the 2 tera-rockets, Intamin coasters have been essentially trouble-free.

They look great and ride great.

I think they are a better choice than B&M for most coaster types.

I would have been disappointed with a B&M.

Intamin is a good company but I think should have built TTD in 2005 and MaXair in 2003. But O well it was fun working when TTD came out.

But Intamin didn't build maXair.

I know that maXair was not built by Intamin. I was just saying TTD came out two years too early. Intamin could have worked more on testing the ride before building it. So sides building TTD in 03 put maXair in 2003 in its place. Any who i do not make the plans I just ride on!

I doubt that delaying TTD would have led to Intamin testing the launch system. In all likelihood, they probably weren't willing to invest the money into building their own, when they very well might not have seen any ROI. Remember - the launch system was a prototype.

But Intamin thought it had a solid design. It was a design that was working on Xcellerator and Intamin said they could scale it up without a problem. They were apparently wrong.

Right. I'm not saying they didn't have the best intentions, just that they weren't about to build one themselves to test it before selling it. As an engineer, I find it surprising that other engineers would be as haphazard to think they could scale it up so "easily". It seems as though its fairly straightforward that as you increase the size and capability of something, the potential for problems increases exponentially.

Brandon

I think they thought they had everything covered and just didn't consult with Mr. Murphy before building it.

Well, that's probably because he was busy. He's almost always at my office, sitting across the room from me. ;)

Brandon

So I guess the question is. Do you think the new coaster is gonna find it's way over to where the Antique cars are now?

djDaemon's avatar

I doubt it, personally. From what some have said around here (and most seem to know a bit about it), they appear to be utility markings, used for reference.

Brandon

I work in the construction field(electrical) and I have never seen a job that was marked out have a stack or markings atleast 50 yards away from the construction. I could be wrong, but I certainly hope they do make this thing larger and longer than what we are able to see.

No offense meant, tas, but you seem to be in the minority of those who haven't seen similar markings before.

Although, it would be nice if you were right.

Brandon

No offense taken. I just wish that August would come along alittle quicker so we can all just sit back and laugh at ourselves about what we think is going on, and what it is.

I say we all call it Maverick(that sounds like a good name)

Maverick:
One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter.

So does this mean it will be a reliable Intamin coaster?

Good point Jugga.

CP=Graceland

Haha, that was a decent joke, and I think you found the meaning behind that sign. :)

As for the markings; if FT is going to be getting a major facelift over the next two or three seasons like it probably will, then most likely the utilities throughout the area are going to get upgraded as well. Didn't they dig out to somewhere around the 'Tiques to feed in the electric lines for Skyhawk?
