Project 2007 Blog Update

I'll just chuckle when the ride isn't named Maverick, that's all.

I'd say odds are much better than 50-50 that the ride will end up being named Maverick.

I did think this was a little interesting though...

He died in 1870, the same year the Cedar Point's first season was.

Coincidence? I think.... so.

I think so too... just pointing it out. :)

Another legend is beginning before a ride is even constructed...

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

I was coming across a few Intamins today and thought, maybe they're not going to go for Height Breaking, but something different. I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to this with the name Maverick. http://www.rcdb.com/ig628.htm

^I can ensure you they're not going to build a Superman type ride. MF is just like the Superman's, but takes advantage of the speed more so than the airtime hills.

Geewhzz, can I chuckle with you when it's not Maverick? It could be at any Cedar Fair park years from now.

I don't think it will break any of THE records (i.e. Height, speed, most inversions) but since it's being built by Cedar Point whatever it's named it will have some kind of record. They'll invent a record if they have to...

I'm expecting lots of high speed turns, at least one helix, and maybe one or two inversions. I'm glad Cedar Point doesn't go down the inversion crazy path, but to please others it would be great to have a couple this year. That would be some serious sidewindin! ;)
In my opinion it be awesome to have a heartline twist. *** Edited 5/17/2006 8:16:29 PM UTC by CP Tay Tay***

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

yeah, I don't see another hyper going in.

I could see another hyper going, it just won't be from Intamin so that pretty much rules it out for this year. I would like to see a B&M hyper.

You can't invent a record. If you could we'd be seeing more of "Biggest helix on a blue Intamin roller coaster that also has 3 bunny hills somewhere on the ride that was built in between 1963 and 2142 in the Western Hemisphere."

There is: Height, speed, length, inversions. Those are the major 4. If you have to add anything onto the record then the record is pointless. I hate to bash Millennium Force, but tallest full circuit coaster kinda makes it pointless. Of course that doesn't take anything out of the greatness of the ride ;).

isn't dragster a full circuit rollercoaster.. i mean it DOES go in a full circle.....

Tallest impulse coaster ring a bell? How about tallest swing ride? Almost every ride they have built since magnum has been something-est in the world.

The tallest full circuit reference was to Superman at SFMM, it was taller than MF when MF opened. However, i dont think the cars reach more than 300 some feet so it would be like cedar point sticking a 50 foot pole on TTD and calling it taller than KK. Anyway I think a rides drop size is more important than how tall the highest track point. Anyone could build a kiddie coaster and have the lift over a mile deep ravine and it would technically be the tallest coaster. Sorry for the rambling, I'll stop now.

IMO, a full circuit coaster is one that consists of the train(s) going out of the station and returning through the back of the station.

In which case, both Dragster and Wicked Twister ARE full circuit coasters.

Isn't it obvious as to what coaster is going in?

PS. I would like to say hello to Jeff with the hopes of him remembering me from the dark ages of Virtual Midway and what not. I'm back.

well your right about dragster being full circuit. WT isn't though, even by your definition it isn't, it enters the station from the same way it left at the end of the ride. Think of full circuit as an electrical circuit, WT wouldn't be a functioning electrical circuit

i was at cedar point last week and i can't help but think that something is fishy about all this. it doesnt make sense for a park like cedar point to just give it away and show us the track and give us perfect view of the construction site. i seriously think that kinzel is sitting in his office laughing at all of us. This a gimmick and is nothing but a distraction to what is really going on. I don't think cedar point would choose red again for colors anyway.

As far as where is the real stuff, i really don't know. I know that it's somewhere around but we don't see it.

Also, isn't wierd that the platform for WWL is still there? Are they covering something and just using that as a curtain to keep us fanatics from seeing whats back there? or is cedar point considering bringing WWL back? it doesnt make sense for the park to just leave a ride platform and remove everything else. Could the 2 paths mean a duel rollercoaster? i hope so. i asked a worker at the meanstreaker whats going on in that construction zone. he told me he had no idea. CP is tight-lipped. He said that other workers were spreading a rumor that they were building a ride called Phantom. I hope that's not true because that is one ugly name.

There is no conspiracy. Cedar Point is not in the habit of spending several thousands of dollars just to mislead a few enthusiasts. The track is for Cedar Point's new coaster for 2007, which will be name Maverick.

Maybe there should be a new forum rule where anyone who posts this nonsense gets a temp-ban that lasts 11 months.

;)
