Processing

When you process in (depending on when) you can pretty much choose whatever area you want to live, and possibly whether it's smoking or non-smoking. It's first-come, first-served, so whatever's left when you process in is what you get to choose from. You're assigned a room in the area you choose by the Housing staff.

At that point, you can ask if you can reserve additional spaces in that room for friends who you know are coming...you need to know their first and last name and the date they're processing in in order to do this. The closer your dates are to each other, the more likely this reservation will be upheld; however, if you're processing in in early April and your friend is coming in late July, there is a chance that Housing will override the reservation and put someone else in the room if they're hurting for spaces.

Since there are so many spaces in each apartment, if you choose to live in the apartments you will most definitely be roommates and/or housemates with people you don't know -- a great opportunity to meet lots of fun people!

What's up with getting your room? They assign it, you get your key and whatnot, go up and put your stuff in there. Is your roommate(s) going to be there or working? I'm thinking working with the hours I was told we would have. That would be weird, coming into my room and askin my self, "Who's stuff is in my room?"

I know when I processed in, it was pretty much everyone who was processing in was being placed in the same apartment (I was in Commons apartments at first). If you come later in the season, you might have it where you put your stuff in your room with someone already living there, or you might get a room and then while you're working, someone will move in.

Well I want to live in CEDARS. I know you think I might be crazy, but I think that that would be fun. Is CEDARS full up by the 20th of June? I would figure it to be the last to be full.

I'm really not sure. That's around the time a lot of the the foreign workers come, so it might be full. Chances are, if it's full, try back in a few days because there's always openings from people moving or quitting. Living in Cedars isn't crazy, I lived in Gold! :)

I think that the on-point housing is the last to fill up, so I do not think you will have any problem at all getting into Cedars.
Does anything actually ever fill up? Last year, we had at most 3 in our 4 bedroom.. There was a few on our floor had that!

I remember one day that they said Gold was all filled up, but maybe they were lying! ;)

Yes, all dorms used to be packed full and lounges turned into bedrooms (Gold and Cedars) before they built the addition on to Commons dorms..

What kind of information goes onto your Cedar Point ID? And will I have to pay for parking my first day when I go in to process?

Just tell them your going to HR and they'll point you in the right direction and not charge you anything. On the front of the ID there is you name and your hometown or college. On the back is your picture, barcode, ID number, and whether or not you're in CP housing.

It also will indicate if you are 21 or older.

Thanks for the help! What does the barcode do?

Even if you did manage to get a nickname, it'll probably get changed during the summer. Some of our guests don't like shortened names.
