Police

These cops sound familiar. This will be the second time for me living in dorms since college (2001-2002). I went to a small school in southeastern Ohio. The college itself was located in a dry village. But the dorm I lived in was 21 and up so drinking was aloud. Anyway, the village cops would always know when a party was planned in our dorm and would park their cars right outside of the doorways. Then they would check everyone who walked out to see if they had been drinking and ID them. They would also walk the hallways of the dorm and if they heard music playing and laughing in a room they would knock to check things out. That's why everytime someone knocked on the door people would hide their bottles (bottles were illegal) or the underage girls and guys would hide their beer period. The cops would still check IDs though if they suspected underage drinking because us above age people would answer the door with a beer in our hand. Being it was a small school they knew which one of us were consistent partiers.

One thing that I can't recall them doing was stopping people walking to their dorms and IDing them. I bring this up because I've gathered from others on here that the Commons cops will do this if you are walking back from the bar and bust you for public intox. I don't know about you all but I'm 29 (30 in Sept.) and if I want to go drink at a bar and then walk home I'm going to do it. I could understand if you were acting like an idiot and destroying property, but just walking back? If I were driving it would also be a different case.

I honestly have never seen the CP Rent-a-cops bust someone for P.I. just for walking back from the bar. Like you said, if you destroyed property or drove, it would be a different story. I wouldn't worry about it, at all.

When I worked there in '02 we weren't supposed to bring in alcohol to the commons area. So, what we would do is catch someone who was moving in, and have them stuff the alcohol in their suitcases. (it was an easy way to make a quick a friend, and a bar buddy).

Commons police don't search employeees who are moving in.

Well they may now....

And for you Auditor07, if you walk up to Commons looking like you do in your MySpace pic, you might have some issues with the cops... haha

I believe that CP Police are real police officers.

Yeah, they have a full functioning police department with OPOTA certified officers sworn in by the City of Sandusky.

Haha. My profile picture is just a goof. Pretty cool though, huh?

But only the ones with trapezoid shaped arm patches can arrest you. It's comical to remind the others of this fact.

Last time I checked all of them have trapezoid shaped patches.

No, All CPPD wear the same uniform. The ones that arrest you, are the ones with the guns. However, you must listen to and obey ALL of them, regardless of whether they are bonded or not...remember, a bonded officer is just a radio call away.

Word of advice to new employees, just because mommy and daddy are not around to tell you how to behave does not mean you can act like a moron. You are a Cedar Point employee and you signed a contract in which it indicates that you will adhere to the rules and regulations put forth by Cedar Point (this includes behavior on CP property, which includes housing and the EVC lot).

Trust me the officers are very nice guys but it gets a bit old dealing with the drunken, stupidness. Bottom line is you can get as wasted as you want (if you are of age) as long as you can still walk without telling the world "hey look at me, Im drunk."

Having the Cedar Point Police at the park keeps line jumpers down. Its funny telling them that they are there when they try to line jump. It keeps them from doing that its been said.

If you are an idiot you will get busted. Busting teenaged smokers in the park seems like chump change at first glance. But these are usually the folks that cause problems. Cedar Point is a family park, teenagers smoking is not...

well i worked as a commons officer this last summer 2007 and all i know we had tones of crap we had to deal with and as long as your not screwing around we leave you alone, cuz one we dont want to deal with you and two were tired from going to all the stupid calls over arguments of he said she said

The police should start standing guard in the skyride station more often...you know, up in the actual station platform where the cars come in and out.

Well, I'm glad I didn't have to run into you Huronpopo. With your attitude, I can see how people don't like the Cedar Point police. The only reason you had tons of crap to deal with is because you treated it like crap. When you took the CP Rent-a-Cop oath, you agreed to deal with it. Have you ever watched COPS? 75 % of the calls they get are he/she said arguments. If your "tired" of dealing with it, then it's obviously not the right job for you. But I heard Dunkin' Donuts has an opening. Btw, welcome to pointbuzz.

well they never had as many officers in/around housing as they had previous years so I'm sure that they were short staffed and thats why they were sick of dealing with the calls. You can only be caring & empathetic so much. Although it seems they had like all their cars being used at night for some reason so maybe they were doing more vehicle patrols.

A lot of people don't like cops until they need one.
