Police

Not wanting to stick my foot in it, but packs of fifteen-year-olds standing around chain smoking may not be the image Cedar Point is trying to convey. It's within their right to enforce those laws.

Exactly. You can already see the headline, “Cedar Point allows underage smoking!”

Not something the park wants to read on the front page of the Register.

A main point on why you like CPPD and why you don't:

During park hours, they are enforcing park rules and helping you.

During closed hours, they are enforcing their housing rules and "ruining" the "fun".

Its totally different. You love them while at work because they are defending you and maintaining peace. You hate them after work because they nag you and enforce laws. Its only their job- if you were one of the "nice" employees but sorry to say after a while, of being nice, all the crappy piss poor attitude employees ruin it for everyone.

And about underage smoking- that opens a huge can of worms.

Its all about making CP money. You'd be suprised what people get away with. Sometimes I like to say CP is the only place in the U.S. where you can get away with some things.

And while we're at it, I wish they'd profile people in airports more often. Old ladies aren't blowing up planes. Stop making them take their shoes off. It's a waste of everyones times.

So if the old ladies aren't blowing up planes, then who might these people be? No wait, I know what your answer is gonna be. Haha, damn, this is what I like to call typical American ignorance...

What if airport security decides to profile (like they already do, but they slip in random others) and only double-check those you speak of? Don't you think that just maybe the "terrorists" would catch on and send some old ladies to "blow up" the damn planes? What does airport security say to that? Whoops, didn't see that one coming, she didn't fit into the "profile" of a terrorist. Oh well... *** Edited 2/25/2007 4:40:00 PM UTC by ramboozle***

Hail to the Victors

I personally think people should be fined by the police if they see people littering in the park. I just can't stand litter bugs.

They would need to hire about 100 more officers.

I'm sure that college kids are a lot cheaper to pay to go around and pick up the garbage than to add Officers to the staff to hand out citations. I haven't seen a large problem with people littering at CP since they have garbage cans every 10 feet.

There's MANY more issues they would need to address before they started adding staff to hand out littering citations.

I wasn’t serious about that.

Obviously sweeps are cheaper and make more sense. But then again, NOT littering would make even more sense.

And if you spent a day in the park picking up trash (make that 20 minutes in the park) you would agree that there IS a problem with littering. You could have trash cans every 2 feet, people will still do it. You just don’t notice it because of the sweeps.

Oh no, I knew you weren't serious. I was just making a point that the kids picking up trash do a fine job and there isn't a need for citations and more Police.

CPPD rarely hands out ANY citations, even if caught going 60mph on the causeway.

^There are a few employee's that would disagree with your post. So rarely, is not the word I would use.

I'm mainly speaking of at the park. And few employees do get citations. Rather than punish with a citation, most just get fired and escorted off property.
Hardly EVER do guests get citations as well.

Mainly its getting kicked out of the park, or fired.

I used to get my ID pulled on a regular basis for speeding on Perimeter Rd. in a Food Service truck. Does that count? I'd get the obligatory speech from the Chief and one from Albino - then get back to work.

I got my ID pulled once for disrespecting Bill Spehn. (I told him his zipper was down, and he told me I embarrassed him in public)

Thats what I'm talking about- thats no big deal at all. Think of it this way- if you were speeding on I-80, it would be alot bigger deal. The officer wouldn't just have you talk to the Chief.

Basically, you got off like everyone else, and thats what I mean- CPPD rarely hands out citations- rather warn or just fire.

Does CP have it's own jail?

Yea,

It is called the Commons Apartments now I believe. They were built in the early 1980's and housed two to a room. Some genius decided that they could have 4 to a room...

There is a stove top, but sadly no oven. Cedar Point employees could not be trusted with an oven. Which at the time did not surprise me. The drinking age back then was 18 and public intoxication was a joke. I did get written up by a fire marshall because my room was a fire hazard however. It was filled with a months worth of trash. McDonalds wrappers and beer cans..

The trash is still in the attic somewhere in the commons apartments I imagine. I found out that you could open the attic from the bathroom...

I was working a sipper cart and I was telling the park guests that they you could feed the little plastic tops to the carp. A cop overheard me and ratted on me to my zone manager. Boy did I get yelled at!
