Police

I have heard that a lot of employees do not like CPPD. If this is true, how come?

I think its just because they are police. Most people in general I believe don't have a good view of police officers whether it be at Cedar Point or your local town. I personaly have been in many situations with the CPPD and have never had a problem. They have helped me many times.

Darn, Lie got in just before me.

They cannot be that bad.

Your right, their not. But like Lie said, once you get busted by a cop, your view changes cause everyone thinks what they did was not wrong.

But now that I think of it, there was one instance that I did not agree with what they did and still do not agree. And it had nothing to do with me. But that is in the past.

Take care and enjoy the snow (i have been along with my friend Keystone since around 11am)

It depends. I really don't have a problem with police, in general. In fact, I like most of the ones I deal with (in my off-season job, I work with them quite a bit).

The ones at CP are usually pretty cool, at least the ones in the park. The ones who do Commons security can take it a bit too far at times. Then again, people get ridiculous at Commons, and the cops have a job to do. Basically, 99% of the time they won't bother you unless you're being an idiot.

Or doing something illegal. Which most of the time, the people doing it don’t realize what they are doing is illegal.

well, doing something illegal kinda falls within the category of being an idiot ;-). But yes, definitely. Including underage consumption or public intoxication.

Of course, how do you think they keep employees coming back later in the season! :)

I gotta agree with most people that posted here that the guys in the park are some standup guys and the commons ones arent that bad but seem to act a bit less professional that the midway security. I always had a problem with the ones in the hotel. EVERYTIME I was visiting my girlfriend they'd insist on seeing my ID and be lurkin around the employee areas waiting to "BUST" someone. They never checked IDs before and then just started inssiting on seeing them multiple times a night.

Also I've heard that CP does have a "holding" area but not necessarily a jail which would make sense because the city has a jail & thye also have the county prison.

The hotel ones are probably more strict due to guest safety. I do not know know about about you, but when I stay at a hotel, I like to feel safe. It is a place where me and my family and friends stay, and safety is of utmost concern. Guests like to feel safe in the hotels, and by checking people to see if they belong serves this purpose, especially since Cedar Point is a family atmosphere and there are young children running around.

I hear a lot of talk about Commons police. Who are they?

"Commons" is just referring to the housing complex. They are just talking about the officers that are patroling the Commons housing complex.

Interesting. So why are they unprofessional compared to other officers?

What are the requirements to be a Cedar Point Police Officer? It seems like it would be really fun and interesting to work in the park.

I hated feeling like a criminal and having my stuff searched every night. I don't drink, and look pretty far from a criminal. The cops were rude to me on occasion, and it really pissed me off.

On the other hand, I have no problem with any of the police departments around here. I've done extensive work with the agencies in the Lansing area through our RACES program, and they've always been nice, accomodating and respectful.

Either be a bonded officer, or the requirements for security are here: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/jobs/descriptions/seasonal.cfm?id=17#job_50

Speaking of which, since when did the age requirement drop to 15 for security?!
