Pinks hotdogs!

Dragsterboy's avatar

I went to pink's hotdogs for lunch. My experience was mixed. At first we were turned away because you needed to be a family friend or a local politician to eat there. Then we came back an hour later like they said and we were yet again turned away because the fire alarm went off. Then finally 2 hours later we came back, after waiting 15 minutes i was exited to try my hotdog. It was a good hotdog don't get me wrong, but i felt like for 8 dollars it was pretty expensive. So I wondered what all of you thought of Pink's hotdogs!??

8 dollars for a hot dog???

Whomever is responsible for determining food prices at Cedar Fair *really* needs to go take an Econ 101 class at their local community college to gain an understanding of where to price their product to achieve maximum profit (total profit dollars, not profit per unit).

IMO Cedar Fair leaves a lot of money on the table by way of charging too much for their food. I wholeheartedly believe they should charge as much as possible to maximize total profit. I just don't think their current prices accomplish that objective.

Why would someone pay eight bucks for a hotdog? If you really want to eat meat on a bun in the park the brat combo on the midway is around 5 bucks. That is ridiculous pricing. The only food I bought Saturday was a funnel cake from the chippery and it was delicious. Four of us shared it at a cost of six dollars give or take.

I thought the priceS seemed reasonable. Since the more expensive dogs had many toppings like guacamole, cheeses, chili, bacon, onions, relish in all different combinations.

The burger I had was very good

Most of the hot dogs are in the $6 range, not $8. And these are hardly the "hot dog on a bun" you get on the midway.

In a world where Five Guys charges $6 for a cheeseburger, I'm not seeing the issue. There are valid pricing complaints in the park (Subway, beverages), but Pink's pricing is not out of line.

Yea I know most are around $6, I should of added that in the description, however I found the casing to be kinda weird. I would actually rather have a hot dog from the stand right by dragster. I'm not saying Pink's isn't good, it is! Although its just not for me. I also agree that it isn't terribly priced, but for what you get its a tad much.

Yeah, as Walt's picture shows, most of the dogs are slathered with toppings. I actually didn't even see where you could get just a plain hot dog, but now I see you can get *two* for $6.25 (the "Double Feature").

I got the 9" Stretch Chili Dog for $6, which is a hot dog topped with a generous amount of chili, and mustard and onions (both of which I omitted). I tried a bit of the hot dog by itself, and it was nothing to write home about; it was pretty standard. But I *really* liked the chili. I thought it was a fair price -- by CP standards -- and it was decently filling. I don't like the vast majority of toppings they offer, but I'd like to try the bacon/cheese/chili combo next time.

I actually like the Johnsonville hot dogs over by the Good Time Theater better as far as the hot dog itself is concerned, and considering those are thicker, they might actually have the same amount of meat as the 9" Pinks ones. :)

I think the pricing is pretty decent for Cedar Point. I paid $7.40 for a 9" hot dog with a ton of chili, saurkraut, mustard, and onions today. Enjoyed the hot dog, and didn't feel too terrible about the price of it.

We walked into Pinks at 11:45 for lunch today and was out in 15 min, the owners were their as well as Cp brass. I just had the 9 in 6.39 chilly cheese dog and it was very good, as others have said the dog does not have much flavor but with all the chilly it's delicious. I will be going back to try some of the other offerings as well as the chilly cheese fries. As for the dogs, the more you pile on the more it costs.

For compariasons sake, here is the menu with prices of Pinks Hollywood location http://www.pinkshollywood.com/pgz/menu.htm

If most are 6 buckish then it is acceptable for in park food pricing. I was under the impression that the standard was 8 dollars, sounds like that is just the mondo version. Sounds to be just about like going to the ball park. Perhaps I will try one this Friday (weather permitting).

I didn't try one (probably will on my next visit) but they appear to be all about the toppings. They don't look like your usual hot dog that you can just pick up and eat as you're walking around. I'd say the pricing seems pretty fair for all the stuff you get piled onto that hot dog.

The building and overall location looks really good too.

You have to remember that CP always adds in their "captive audience" service fee.

UpsideDown! :-)

Well when you are trying to make your sales around 2 mil a year for that one location prices are going to be a little steep.

I tried one on Friday afternoon and it was good. The 9" with chili and cheese is really good.

While I don't necessarily agree or disagree with you, why are you assuming CP doesn't already have enough data to make the proper price-demand judgement? Just because you (and I, for that matter) find their prices to be repulsive doesn't mean they haven't settled on what they feel is the proper volume-margin ratio based on some pretty solid data.

I thought the prices at Pink's were in line for what they are offering and for being in an amusement park. Good dog and onion rings.

I found what I thought was a good deal on a hot dog at Joe Cool Cafe. The Colossal Chili Cheese Dog. It's at least the size o fone at Pink's dogs and comes with fries too for $7.19. I also had one at Game Day last year, I think the price was similar there. I believe it's same size as the Mega Dog sold without those toppings at a few stands around the park for about $6.50.

Did anyone try Pink's burgers? How were they?

The best deal if you just want to try the dog is to share the "Double Feature" with someone. 2 dogs for 6.25

I had a cheeseburger. It was pretty good and came with ketchup, mustard, onions, mayo, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce on a toasted bun. The price was $6.39, which I thought was worth it as it tasted good and was filled with toppings.
