Passholder Preview Night

Learned a lesson about rumors last night. Got in line for SV at 4:30. Ride broke down soon after. Think it was around 5:45 when we did get a ride. During that hour of waiting. People ahead in line were exiting. One guy making the decision to leave said that "they" were saying the ride could be down for the rest of the night. My buddy and I decided to wait. A good thing too. Unfortunately, we were the last train before the ride shut down again. I feel bad for those who didn't get a ride last night. Hopefully the bugs will be worked out soon.

Anyway, love SV. It's just what CP needed. Love all the updates to FT as well. Glad to see they put the skeleton fishing on the dock in Boneville. Great food. We had a great time.

It clearly said in the disclaimer on the back of the ticket stub that SV availablity is subject to weather and maintenance conditions. If you didn't get a ride, the park owes you nothing.

And I also heard an employee at the queue entrance say try to going to guest services.

I saw a few people in guest services trying to be made whole again last night when I was leaving.

I was wondering how one get's made "whole again" out of FREE stuff to begin with.

I’d say anything to get rid of those complainers too.

So as a passholder I should be happy with driving to Cedar Point for a free preview of Frontiertown and some food samples? Mmmmm no. That’s the thing my nightmares are made of.
But I’m a spoiled rich kid, so there’s that. And things were perfect the night I went, so no complaints here.

I did get a Rougarou stamp on the way out.

Does that count as anything?

Depends on your definition of whole.

I think people have a right to complain when an employee tells them false information

The employee I heard say try guest services said that would be your best bet and they MAY do something. They weren't guaranteed anything.

People tend to hear what they want to hear, not what they heard.

That applies to internet posts as well, read what was written.

What blows my mind with some of the complaints is that you were at the park, got to see a preview of FrontierTown with 6 FREE food tastings of the new delicious sounding food. Not to mention, Mine Ride, Skyhawk, Maverick and Antique Cars were operating also. I understand being upset with a ride being down for mechanical, but that is a risk we all take every time we go there because it is out of Cedar Point's control. Get over it!

The only thing to get over is the disappointment of traveling to the park and have that happen. Yes, it comes with the usual disclaimer, but nobody went hoping to marathon the antique cars. So it’s real and I get it.

I don't know what you want me to tell you other than what I've already said. The people who went are Platinum Passholders. If they pitch a fit and don't realize there will be more opportunities to ride throughout this whole entire season, then maybe that says something about them. Mechanical downtime happens! I would be a bit disappointed too if I drove there and didn't get a chance to ride, but guess what...nobody asked them to wait in line during all mechanical downtime. Like I said, there were other attractions open (other than just Antique Cars) that Cedar Point didn't need to make sure got commissioned on time for the Hoedown. Not quite sure how you skipped over the fact that Skyhawk and Maverick were open, but ok.

The key difference here is between being disappointed (and handling it like an adult) and throwing an entitled fit.

I wasn't there and didn't see any of it, but given the behavior of enthusiasts and pass holders in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a good bit of the latter. I'd like to believe there wasn't, and there certainly wasn't the night I was there, but you never can tell

I think I missed it. Where did the whole 'be made whole again' joke get started? Just out of curiosity.

In the Winter Chill Out thread when tickets sold out so fast. It became a running joke here ever since.

I didn’t ask you to tell me anything. I didn’t skip over the fact that other rides were available, but maybe it seemed so because I don’t care. I wasn’t there, didn’t intend to go, and I wasn’t affected in the least.

The only observation I can make is that it must really suck for those that haplessly chose the night to go that resulted in an inordinate amount of downtime. Just like planning a day that results in thunderstorms. Others, like me, chose a preview event that didn’t suck. Wednesday night’s crowd was disappointed and rightly so.
Yes. Everyone was a Platinum Pass Holder. Yes, they had the option to leave the line and ride Maverick. Had I been there in that situation I imagine would’ve stuck it out hoping and praying that the brand new star attraction that I came to ride would revive itself. And I would’ve been really bummed because it worked out for some but not me.
Those people don’t have the right to throw fits and be demanding but they sure have the right to be disappointed. That’s all I was trying to say, and I’m not sure why you’re singling me out here.

PS. Enthusiasts have never been known collectively for making smart decisions. I get that too.

We were there last night (Wed). Hands down the best-run event of this type that we've experienced at the park, despite the extended downtime. The fact that there was much to do (and eat), including the CP&LE RR, shows a commitment on the park's part to a memorable evening, and perhaps even a bit of wise planning, suspecting that--like any new ride--there might be issues.

We can argue about the length of downtime or whether or not there was some sort of recourse; but, I (personally) don't think we should argue that the park went more "out of its way" than ever to show guests an enjoyable time.

I'll echo the earlier comment about the friendliness of all the employees--including food service. A very positive experience.

*Facepalm*. If you weren’t affected in the least, then perhaps understand that the park did what they could to make the 3 day event enjoyable for everybody. Like I said before, the star attraction is going to be there all season long. Nobody was singling anybody out until you clearly got on the defensive. You’re making it seem like I said you couldn’t be disappointed. Quite frankly I made it clear that I would be disappointed also. But what I don’t think you are understanding is that these other attractions were simply made available for the instance of SV breaking down, and now you have options of other things to do instead of sulking and feeling sorry for yourself. Sounds harsh, but what else do you expect if you don’t make the most of the event.

Welp. Do you think for a minute that Cedar Point would be holding this three day passholder event if it weren’t for Steel Vengeance?
Go ahead and yell at those who were unfortunate to choose the wrong night and tell them to get over it. My point is that they don’t have to, and we should expect that for some attendees other rides that will also be there this season and have been there for many seasons prior might seem like little compensation.
I’m happy for those that were able to roll with it and have a good time anyway. I’m sad for those that were disappointed. That’s all.
