Its tough to stay keto at CP especially on the meal plan but I am learning. You can ask to skip the bun or the fries but that often does not compute and grinds up the well oiled gears in the food prep machinery.
Yeah, I can generally throw things away. We are a little more relaxed with our carbs on the weekends than we are during the week, so things like BBQ sauce and what have you aren't as much of a concern. But, I think I may be better of without the meal plan and just picking and choosing what I want and not have to try and work around the offerings
Unfortunately tonight was not a great night. Mav walk on. Mine Ride closed for a bit. But SV was pretty much down for the count. I think we’d be lucky if it was open a full hour total tonight so far. The rest of the event surpassed expectations. But the star did not show.
My mom and uncle were standing in line for over an hour and then they were told they couldn't have fanny packs and needed to buy a locker so they had to leave the line. If they don't have a sign in bold letters somewhere they need to tell people before they enter the line...
Ride broke down after another hour and they never got on. I feel sorry for everyone who didn't get to ride it today, seems like the whole thing was a complete mess.
EDIT:
Turns out that the employee was severely misinformed because you CAN take fanny packs on Steel Vengeance. I wonder if that's the same employee that was telling people to go to guest services for a fast lane pass.

That video looks like a better angle than the photos. I've had several laps sitting on the load side of the train and wasn't visible in any of the Funpix photos and heard others had the same experience. The video looks like you see almost everyone on the train.
Otherwise, yeah what everyone else said. I was at the First Rider Benefit and the Hoedown yesterday. Tony and the park went above and beyond to provide the best passholder preview event I've ever witnessed. The new food choices are a welcome change. I enjoyed everything I sampled.
I wonder how the new menu will affect Brew and BBQ. Will the pulled pork and brisket be the same now served at the food stands or will they do something to distinguish them?
SV had alot of issues tonight. I was on the second train of the day and it broke down right after I got off. And some random stranger gave me some ride tickets, so me and my group got in line. Right before we got to the queue, it was down for about an hour. Then about 5 trains went, broke down again for a while, and about 5 more trains again, this time broke down when I was next to ride. We had to leave because someone in my group had to get up early tomorrow and we had a 2 hour drive home. SV was down for about 70% of the time tonight.

The restraints kept getting stuck closed. They had to bring out this box that connects to the back of each car to manually open them.

I think 70% is being generous. I would say it was down over 80% of the night. My partner and I held on for the last bit as the sun was setting and lo and behold 2.5 hours later they were dispatching cars like nobody’s business and we got on the fifth or six car after that final break down. It was interesting being on the ride with the heat lightning. I don’t have words for the coaster except So. Much. Air. It was fantastic.
My brother, nephews and I persevered through the downtime at the beginning of the evening as our main goal was to ride SV, eat and leave.
3 hours of waiting, most of which was spent at the air gates in the station and we got our ride a little after 730pm. I don't rank coasters very often and I don't keep a "top 10" list but this ride is easily up there for me. It's definitely my favorite coaster at CP and could've bumped Fury as my favorite ride in general. I won't get into a review cause there isn't much else to say that hasn't already been said. This ride has lived up to every expectation I had for an RMC conversion of Mean Streak since New Texas Giant was announce and then some. Completely blew my mind.
Now, the food. It was very good! Loved everything I sampled and really looking forward to seeing what makes it on the meal plan as I saw most locations had the Meal Deal sign but the menu boards were off. If this is the direction the food will start going at CP I'm very excited.
Overall, I got my ride on SV. One ride on Maverick and I sampled all the new food. I loved the event and I'm really hoping this becomes an annual tradition for CP regardless of what new attractions are opening. Thanks CP for putting this on!
Now, good luck working those bugs out of SV before Saturday!
Ours was wonderful, I was so thrilled that they had video, I had hoped but didn't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed. If you want to see the video let me know, I have it posted on FB.
I understand people's frustration with the ride being down, but let's also give the park huge props for throwing an event of this nature. Free ERT on other attractions, free food, etc. This was a brilliant way for the ride to sort of have a dress rehearsal all week before the park opens. I am sure they have learned a lot about the ride in a few short days. All new attractions have these kind of kinks that need to be worked out.
Even if you didn't get to ride, how great that many of you had the opportunity to preview Frontiertown and try new food offerings for free.
I have to say between here and even the park's Facebook comments I am pleasantly surprised with the lack of bitching about the event this week. Let's see how Saturday goes now...
I saw a few people in guest services trying to be made whole again last night when I was leaving.

I'm sure some people were complaining, I hope my post didn't come across as it because I generally had a fantastic time. Even my nephews who are 12 and 13 had a fantastic time and didn't mind the wait due to downtime. I'm going on 20 years in this hobby and I knew the ride wasn't going to behave properly. It's just how things are.
Again, I hope this style pass holder preview becomes a annual tradition. It was fantastic and I look forward to it again.
The reason people were going to guest services to be made "Whole Again" is because a ride attendant was telling people that if you do not get to ride Steel Vengeance, to keep your ticket stub and on the way out of the park someone would give you a 1-Time Fast Lane Plus Pass to use on the ride of your choosing in the future.
So when I was leaving, I checked in at Guest Services, and they said they were not doing that and the ride attendant was mistaken.
So I said fine and just left.
Event was good, had a fun time.
Unfortunately, I don't know if they'll have time to fix those bugs with SV before Saturday because they won't have time to do a lot of tests. A nasty storm will be hitting the peninsula today and tomorrow. It probably won't be running much, if at all, during Ohio State Day (my Michigander self is laughing). I'm still hopeful for smooth operations on Saturday, but I will expect a bit of downtime. If I can get a SV night ride on Saturday, I'll be very pleased.
Just Coasting you heard the employee saying that? Wasn’t just a rumor? Wow. That’s crappy. I can see people getting a little upset by that then.
ROUNDABOUND.
Sounds more like a rumor. If they were truly going to address the issue of being unable to ride this way, it most likely would’ve been done at the ride station or entrance.
